Reviews for One&Only Palmilla

Best Resort for Families in Cabo

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I can't say enough positive about this resort and their service. Overall, the entire facility is extremely clean and organized. The service is truly unbeatable. Have stayed now three times with our family and make life-long memories every singular time. Pro Tip - stay over Easter - the mass they have at the little church is magical, and the Egg Hunt for the kids is off the charts. Overall, this is by-far the best resort to stay with family that I've ever experienced.

Spring Break Getaway

Well, a few things here for our stay at the Palmilla. My wife, my 14 yo and I all stayed at the Pamilla for a week. Overall, a great stay but there are a few things that can be approved and I know they will because between Nicolas (Resort GM) and Sergio (Americas head for One & Only) they ask the questions and love the feedback. We booked a Jr suite - so more room, a plunge pool, amazing views and larger deck. Will start with the needs for improvement: Needs for Improvement: Gym my son is 14 and looks like a college student. Plays loads of Club level sports, has a trainer and works out. The rule here must be 16 or older but now they can sign a waiver. However, he can't work out before 10 am. This is silly because there are people in there doing nothing or actually working out in sandals and not taking seriously. It should be the skill and focus of the person more than the age. Beach/Pool Chairs we have stayed at Aman's, Rosewoods, Four Seasons and one of the best things about those is you have 'earned' the right to not have to even think about people reserving chairs at 6 and 7 am in the morning and then not showing up until 11 am. This is not a Hilton or Marriott. They do 'allow' this, but they said they are working on it. it is hard when people bribe and drop an old book on a chair at 6 am and then show up at noon. It seems they are working on this, but this will take the ability to push back on those that are used to staying at those types of places. this is really something the 5-star brands just don't even come close to allowing and they just need to tell guests they are not ready to stay at this type of hotel. Transportation we went into San Jose Del Cabo old town a few times. Best restaurants, charm, shops, galleries and evenings for families. Uber - as safe and clean as anywhere in the US and maybe even more. $11 usd each way including 20% tip. It takes 4-minute wait at most. Palmilla - $350 usd RT with a three-hour limit. we went across the street to a development where are friends are living for the year. Uber - $9 usd each way Palmilla - $250 usd rt Airport Private SUV service with drinks, store stop and everything you would expect - $185 RT Palmilla - $300 usd Drinks at beach service is great but $35 for margaritas and $60 burrito for kids for lunch is a little too much. Four Seasons is about $18 margs and lunch would be about $30. very fair for the service and location. Now the really great things The staff - all just amazing. For us it started with Nicolas and meeting Segio. They run this place incredible and openly admit a way to go. The Palmilla future is so bright with them at the helm. Thanks to Isaac (check in), Karol, Damian (Hosts), Alejandro and staff (Gym), Isabel and the staff (breakfast), Beach team - Jose, Jesus, Modesto, Wilber, Giovanni, Gabriel - cleaning staff and just everyone else there. As happy, cordial and amiable staff as any resort in the world. THANK YOU ALL! Breakfast - at these types of resorts the beautiful buffets and breakfast are so important when you are paying 000's per night. Palmilla nails it. You get both the buffet and the menu. We all enjoyed the staff, the food and the view every day. Gym - once we got over our son being allowed to work out the facility is great and run so well. Pelican beach - great views, swimmable, lunch - while expensive - the chef is amazing. We will be back for sure. The Palmilla is right on the cusp of being that 5-star or 6-star hotel. Just a few tweak's needed and some updating to the rooms. They know all this, and the leadership there today will achieve all that and more. Thanks Nicolas and team for a great family week and we will be back later this year for sure.

Great but expensive

Just returned from a 5 night stay. This place is awesome...think Ritz Carlton on steroids! The staff, the grounds, the rooms all fantastic. The one gripe...the stupidist pricing I have ever seen in a world class hotel. Shrimp cocktail, $50.00, Glass of wine $40.00, 90 minute massage $500.00, couples massage $1500.00 and trust me the list goes on. Just silly pricing. So would i go back? I could get over the $2000.00 per night but the on site dining and drinking prices were just insulting. Never the less this place still gets 5 stars from me because the 5 days were great!!!

Pretty location, but doesnt have the management team to create what should be an amazing stay!

While we have been fans of One & Only, previously Palmilla for 30 years...and have spent many many vacations there both with friends and most recently family (3 rooms!) This visit fell very short of previous experiences. The property lacked serious attention to detail, a rather drab style of primping for the holidays, and in general, really left us frustrated and underwhelmed considering the expense to stay there. The staff worked hard...but corporate doesnt "have their backs." We wont be back....even though we will miss the best pool side tacos. And lastly....back office is unable to do the most basic of stuff in regards to room charges. Time to experience the alternatives. Adios!

Gorgeous, but..

This is a hard review to write. It is absolutely a 5 star hotel and I want to rate it as a 5. However, we had some things that didn’t work for us. Our pre communication with the hotel stopped abruptly and we received no post stay survey. What happened? Spa is extremely expensive and it is gorgeous and flawless. We did it all and loved it. I just think that when a person or couple spends that much, a glass of champagne offered or a little something special is in order. The staff are extremely warm and well trained. They also know how to sell product so be prepared. The food is good. It is not out of the world. And it basically all tastes the same throughout. Had a great steak at SEARED, but or bread was stale! The breakfasts are very good. A glass of champagne cost $100 anywhere in the grounds. This was problematic. It was not Dom Perignon. It was good but not $100/glass good. The buildings are just incredible. Such craftsmanship and beauty everywhere. Our room was very comfortable. Bed extremely comfortable! Beach is nice. Pools are lovely. Views are unbeatable.Love having hosts for our rooms. Really it’s one of the prettiest places in the world. I just can’t get over the $700/hour spa treatments. We are luxury travelers and we are savvy.
