When railroad tycoon Frederick William Vanderbilt built the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, part of the Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, in 1919 it was Puerto Rico's only luxury hotel – President and Eleanor Roosevelt stayed here, part of a long list of notable guests. If the architecture looks familiar, it might be because the design firm also drew up the plans for New York's Grand Central Terminal. Graceful archways and sweeping staircases remain intact in this fully restored landmark, which presides over the Atlantic Ocean with two guestroom towers that are sumptuously modern.

We have been coming tp Puerto Rico for the last several years. We have stayed at the Ritz Carlton San Juan a few times. The st regis now the four seasons. Which was amazing just not me. I do not like to stay the whole time at the resort. If you do you will love the resort. The Marriott one of the nicest rooms but will never return because of service. Everything from checkin to adding frequent traveler number was a fight. While the Vanderbilt has not been perfect will probably return. Staff is amazing which I really value. Down side to be guaranteed a balcony you need to book a suite. Sorry I am frugal. We requested a balcony and received one. Room was great road noise was not especial Saturday night until 2am. Breakfast was included in our room rate so that was a bonus. To be honest if I was paying top dollar for the buffet I would not have been happy. Very ordinary but great when included. No beach but great views We have found the food great in Puerto Rico.. Some of our favorite restaurants maybe not in order. Vianda, Mario Pagan, Verde Mesa and a new restuarant Santella to our list. Casita marimar was also excellent very large portions. We will be trying 1919 at the hotel tonight because they have just started doing an A la carte menu .

A hotel that tries, but fails at this price point. Kind staff, but a tired property, and a team that seems to regularly trip up - missed orders, forgotten housekeeping, and poor food. Ultimately elements that can be overlooked on a budget, but for $1k+ a night, the Condado Vanderbilt has seen better days. A shame — wouldn’t return.

I attended a conference back in 2015 at a nearby hotel, which was fully-booked by the time I got around to making a rez. The Condado Vanderbilt was not listed as one of the conference's spillover hotels but, after a little hunt, I booked it since it was nearby. To say that I was thrilled, even overwhelmed, is an understatement. It was priced the same as the conference hotel rate. And I wrote a *glowing* review here at the time. But after my experience, I always told my wife that I wanted to go back and take her. This past week, I finally did. I want to thank Pablo for treating us so beautifully and giving us the perfect suite. And I want to give a shout out to Kevin, who was our favorite pool and beach boy. But everyone on the staff was so wonderful and gracious. And the hotel itself is absolutely a jewel. Our vacation was perfect. And my wife now loves the hotel as much as I do! <3

Just returned from a mother-daughter three night stay at this fabulous hotel. The Condado Vanderbilt is the place to stay for a wonderful, relaxing yet fun-filled time. It is simply beautiful. Everything you need is right here! The stunning lobby where you will be greeted upon check -in with friendly smiles and chilled champagne, immaculate and lovely rooms (our ocean view suite was amazing) , several pool areas with comfy lounges and the nicest attendants who will happily set you up (and then move you again to follow the sun if desired), or bring drinks and snacks, and a variety of restaurants serving fresh and delicious meals or cocktails also by the sweetest people! Having breakfast or lunch outdoors at Olas is lovely. They also make the very best pina coladas you can’t miss! STK restaurant was lively and had excellent choices. Tacos and Tequila is a waterfront gem , but best of all was dinner at the incredible 1919. This is a treat that is not to be missed. It was an amazing dinner experience. The hotel setting is gorgeous and the property is meticulously cared for. Each staff member greets you with a smile and warmth. The housekeeping is top-notch and we appreciated the turn-down service and extra care in keeping the suite so clean and stocked each day. Thank you to everyone at the Condado Vanderbilt, and particularly to JuanCarlo Vazquez, Director of Operations, for making our stay so memorable. You all show how pride in your work benefits everyone! This was my family’s fourth visit here over several years and we will most definitely return! I recommend it to everyone!
