About the Hotel
When railroad tycoon Frederick William Vanderbilt built the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, part of the Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, in 1919 it was Puerto Rico's only luxury hotel – President and Eleanor Roosevelt stayed here, part of a long list of notable guests. If the architecture looks familiar, it might be because the design firm also drew up the plans for New York's Grand Central Terminal. Graceful archways and sweeping staircases remain intact in this fully restored landmark, which presides over the Atlantic Ocean with two guestroom towers that are sumptuously modern.

Best beach hotel
Amazing experience overall. Staff cannot be friendlier and accommodating. The guys on the beach to help with chairs and umbrella are great. Especially Diego and John working Christmas Day!

One of the best hotels I've stayed at in a while. Very clean, top-notch service and fantastic food! I will be back in February!

Pools kept way too hot
I would have given this review five stars if not for the two main pools being kept at temperatures in the 90s. Apple Watch can inform the water temps. The large pool was consistently 91-93 degrees. The infinity pool which is right there is kept at 93-95 degrees. There is a very small adult pool on the other side of the resort which isn’t as heated, but it is far and has only a couple dozen chairs total. The lobby is quiet and dark. Our room in the west tower looked out over the city. It was comfortable yet on the smaller side. Good shower and not a combo which we prefer. Beach is a bit of a walk, shared with La Concha. But there is a beach. Water very rough this week. Great 5 star service. Some firsts for us Stocked fridge/ help yourself. Free snacks in the room. And the pools are open 24/7. So while we didn’t enjoy the hot pools during the day, we certainly enjoyed them at 11 PM in the evening.

Beautiful Hotel! Great Service and Location!
We love the Condado Vanderbilt. The hotel is beautiful, with views overlooking the ocean, looks like you are on a cruise ship. The pools is great also, overlooking the ocean with beautiful views. The location is perfect within walking distance to many restaurants. Also, it is very convenient to go to Old San Juan, only a few minutes away by car. The staff is very friendly and love working there. We had great experiences with the front desk staff, Pablo, and Georgette. Great service at Tacos and Tequilla's with Jan. The is a true 5 Star Hotel!!

Worst experience ever.
Terrible, no beach. Beach view rooms are terrible. First night there I was looking for another place to stay. Found another place to stay and checked out and still charged us for days not staying there. DO NOT STAY HERE!. I have no idea how they have such a high rating. Please don't lose your $$$$$ here like I did. Stay at Marriott instead.
