When railroad tycoon Frederick William Vanderbilt built the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, part of the Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, in 1919 it was Puerto Rico's only luxury hotel – President and Eleanor Roosevelt stayed here, part of a long list of notable guests. If the architecture looks familiar, it might be because the design firm also drew up the plans for New York's Grand Central Terminal. Graceful archways and sweeping staircases remain intact in this fully restored landmark, which presides over the Atlantic Ocean with two guestroom towers that are sumptuously modern.

My husband and I stayed at The Condado Vanderbilt Hotel at the recommendation of my nephew. It was perfect! We couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and meticulously maintained. The property is easy to navigate. The food, drinks and service are the best, with indoor, poolside or room service options available. The staff couldn't be more accommodating. We had an extremely minor scheduling question about the time of our room's cleaning one day and found champagne and two glasses when we came back to our room! While the entire staff in every area was absolutely outstanding, Deyaneira Rosa in the Housekeeping Department deserves a special shout out! We would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I spent the last week at the Condado Vanderbilt. This was our first trip to Puerto Rico. We had a great time and the hotel is beautiful but pricey! If you are looking to relax and enjoy the sun, this place is for you. Very elegant, several restaurants, great service (for the most part), four pools to choose from and a fantastic gym. A special shout out to our pool attendants Manual and Michael. They were friendly, helpful and courteous! We did have a problem getting our room cleaned most days. It appears they don't have sufficient cleaning staff. However, when we questioned why our room wasn't cleaned by say 4:00pm, they immediately had it done. One other note, due to the hotel's location, right on the water, the pool area can be very windy most of the time. Overall, we had a great time and would stay here again.

Absolutely worst hotel! Be prepared for your room to not be ready until 8pm and given the run around! Do not go there save your time, energy, and money!
