When railroad tycoon Frederick William Vanderbilt built the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, part of the Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, in 1919 it was Puerto Rico's only luxury hotel – President and Eleanor Roosevelt stayed here, part of a long list of notable guests. If the architecture looks familiar, it might be because the design firm also drew up the plans for New York's Grand Central Terminal. Graceful archways and sweeping staircases remain intact in this fully restored landmark, which presides over the Atlantic Ocean with two guestroom towers that are sumptuously modern.

We came for July 4th weekend to celebrate a friend’s 50th, and we booked the CV a little late and with very few expectations. But we honestly had the best experience. First, the staff. Literally everyone we engaged with was fantastic- front desk, bellhop, pool waiters, restaurant servers, bartenders, concierge, pool valets, cleaners, everyone. The property is elegant and has beautiful art throughout. The adult pool was great, the chaise loungers comfy. I Food wa delicious. Room was clean, well appointed, comfortable and had stunning views. Can’t say enough about how well treated we felt. Thanks to everyone at Condado Vanderbilt!

The Condado Vanderbilt is a luxury hotel with Spanish charm and impeccable service. The food is excellent and the amenities and location spot on. Gorgeous clean pools and gym, with a beautiful ocean view. Rooms are large and well appointed. Comfy beds. The experience depends on the nature of your trip. Adults and couples will love the stress free vibe. However, this place is not the best for kids. The only pool open to kids is the main one, the others are small plunge pools marked for adults only. The nearby public beach has heavy, heavy surf. While we were there, there was a strong undertow; there are no lifeguards and it is posted as “dangerous for swimming.” We waded, but I would not let my teens swim. There is no game room with foosball or billiards, which would be nice for the younger crew. No volleyball net in the pool. It is just not that kind of place. Which is fine, but know before you go. For me it felt slightly too formal to really unwind, but through no fault of the staff who were so nice and accommodating all the time I started to feel sorry for them!

Excellent hotel. Restaurants were really good, especially 1919. Pool area was good. Staff were excellent, especially Amanda, Aneilly and Carl who added to our stay. Some minor complaints- check in was poor, but the hotel understood and gave us a refund. We had 4 rooms and one had a broken thermostat in the air conditioning unit for 3 days and the room stayed at 60 degrees. Some other minor housekeeping issues. The beach was poor. These issues did not take away from the fact that this is a very good hotel

An exquisite gem! Hotel was stunning. Start to finish our experience was magnificent. Staff wonderful. Room was a dream; ocean view, comfy beds, gorgeous bathroom. Beach staff was great - umbrella, chairs, towels provided. Multiple pools w/adult area. HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

The hotel facility was impeccable. The decor was eye catching and classy. The hotel staff was beyond phenomenal. Every single person was knowledgeable about the property and the city. Everyone's advice for places to eat and things to do were wonderful.
