Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
The courtyard gardens of Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada provide a leafy respite from the colors, scents and sounds of San Miguel de Allende. Here there is tranquility befitting the cloistral surroundings – some of the intricate stonework dates from the 1400s, and individually designed rooms are reminiscent of Old Mexico. Talavera-tiled bathrooms, copper sinks and stucco walls adorned with original art create a homey ambiance, and the quarry stone fireplace is the perfect place to enjoy an evening glass of wine.
Let Mexico’s prettiest city enchant you: Take a morning stroll down cobblestoned streets past cathedrals and architecture dating from pre-Hispanic days. Learn why San Miguel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site through unexpected detours. Stop for coffee at a sidewalk café in the shade. Taste a crispy, powdered sugar-covered tumbagone dessert. Return to the hotel for a siesta in a poolside lounger.

Reviews for Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada
Hotel : Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada Check-in : 06th March 2018 Chec-out: 08th March 2018 A BAD BELMOND EXPERIENCE Last month I rented two rooms at this Belmond property for a family visit. I took my wife and the Italian mother-in-law of one of my daughters. Belmond leases a few houses close to the main plaza ( Centro Histórico) , where they operate a few rooms in each house. I had stayed there a few years ago. Belmond also has a larger facility at about one mile from the Centro Histórico. If you go to San Miguel for a short visit the uptown facility is not the place to be. We had reserved at the Centro Histórico and to our surprise when we arrived they told us that our rooms were at the uptown place. After a long discussion we obtained two rooms in the downtown houses with a surcharge of something like usd 1500 for the two rooms ( USD 700 or 750 each) and about a three hours delay in our check-in. Supossedly we were “ up graded “ to a suite which was large, very dark and not what we wanted . I accepted this because of my guest and my wife. The attention of the reservation manager was bad and the general manager never got involved to help. My Belmond experience which is what they sell , was that the management was focused in charging me as much as possible . The hotel staff is friendly . In summary I would not reccomend Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada to any friend ( or enemy).

Situated throughout multiple luxurious properties on a quiet street, and just a 3 minute walk to the town square and the hub of SMA, this Belmond branded hotel exceeded high expectations. Off site restaurant excellent and lovely.(They will run you up and pick you up) Hotel staff solved a medical problem by delivering a highly certified Medical Doctor to my suite within 15 minutes of my inquiry. (She was a value $) Kitchen prepared special chicken soup for my under the weather wife-- Outstanding professional service. Attended Belmond cooking school--a great three hours of shopping, cooking and eating. Hotel made the trip memorable.

I booked this hotel for a couple of nights last minute since many hotels were full during my week. I had a couple of nights and had to move on since they had full occupancy during the weekend. I arrived to a small nice lobby on one of the main streets in San Miguel. As mentioned this is unique since it is a combination of rooms in areas. Like most hotels in San Miguel a small door leads to big areas. The hotel is off the main plaza. It was only a 5 min walk to anywhere you want to be in town and right around the corner was the amazing The Restaurant, which is a beautiful dining option, which I frequented a couple of evenings. I was checked into a nice large suite in the main courtyard. It was absolutely beautiful. It was one with a private patio, and fireplace. It had a full seating area room that you enter with also an inside fireplace. It included a seating area, couches, and the flat screen TV. Then there was a beautiful tiled large bathroom with a shower, nice bathtub and then the main bedroom. The bedroom was large, with a desk and the bed was super comfortable which led to a good nights sleep. I was concerned about hot water and little quarks some mentioned but did not have any problems everything worked just perfect. They have been working hard and getting the kinks out. I met the new manager and he assured me they were working hard. Wifi was fast and did not have any issue. The regular mobile data was slower, so nice to put on the Wifi and have quick access to data. The courtyard was a lush oasis of trees and fountains, that was just the perfect setting. The room I had was the courtyard with access to the pool. The pool was so perfect, a nice warm temperature and found the lounge chairs and area very relaxing. This I would have to say was my fav hotel pool during my stay. I felt more at peace here. I stayed at the Rosewood, and it is a nice pool but it was more a scene and there was always old people there doing laps and make a ruckus of the water. Not here. I had the pool mainly to my self to just relax take in the tranquility of the setting and get into the pool without the lap people running into you. The bar was open late and offered private areas to sit and enjoy a nice, fresh cocktail or sip a tequila. I enjoyed a couple of late night caps with friends and the bartenders were very friendly and offered great service. My breakfast was included with the Virtuoso booking, and was all off a menu selection, not a buffet. The huevos rancheros was amazing, maybe the best I have ever had. I also had the Chilaquiles that were just as good. Options included fruit, yogurt & granola, eggs any style. I did venture to breakfast at the Park location. I loved the gardens and setting but felt it was more isolated and think I would prefer a room on the main street area, closer to everything I think. It was such a beautiful hotel and must admit did not spend a lot of time in the hotel. I was out in San Miguel del Allende exploring all the restaurants, art shops, and all the activities. It is such a vibrant town, full of beautiful sights and colors, and things to see and do. It was nice to come back to a luxurious place, relax, and feel out of the chaos and crowds. I would highly recommend it, it just has a special unique feel. The service is excellent, with very helpful, courteous staff that are friendly and felt like any special request was not a problem. It has it own unique character, and holds to the charm of San Miguel. I shall return....

I reviewed several hotels in SMA and chose Belmond as I knew I would receive lovely, luxurious accommodations. It was more than I imagined. I love a hotel experience that has a main building with several casitas. My suite was large, with a separate living room, bathroom and large bedroom, plus a private patio. The pool area was very inviting as well. The dining experiences at both restaurants were perfect - and they accommodated my need for gluten-free food very nicely. In addition, the location to the main park and ability to walk literally everywhere in the city is tremendous. San Miguel de Allende is a city NOT to be missed and the Belmond is an excellent choice of accommodations.
