About the Hotel

The courtyard gardens of Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada provide a leafy respite from the colors, scents and sounds of San Miguel de Allende. Here there is tranquility befitting the cloistral surroundings – some of the intricate stonework dates from the 1400s, and individually designed rooms are reminiscent of Old Mexico. Talavera-tiled bathrooms, copper sinks and stucco walls adorned with original art create a homey ambiance, and the quarry stone fireplace is the perfect place to enjoy an evening glass of wine.

Reviews for Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada

A delightful visit to San Miguel de Allende was especially enhanced by our stay at Casa de Sierra Nevada Hotel

This hotel was so lovely and began with a wonderful welcome including a special welcome drink! All of the staff treat you like family and are so helpful! Lots to smile about - beautiful and clean room, delicious breakfast in gorgeous setting, incredible views of the city and in particular, the cathedral, from the rooftop restaurant, and excellent location for walking into the center of the city. Special thanks to Ana who greeted us with the yummy welcome drink and introduced us to the hotel, Jorge, one of the terrific folks giving a hand with luggage, Elisaria at the rooftop bar, who took a great picture of our group for us, Alvaro who was always smiling and pleasant as he served us breakfast, including the best tasting coffee, and Santiago in checkout! Those are just some of the staff names we noted but all the staff was terrific! Wish we had stayed longer!

The Best Hotel We’ve Ever Visited!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had the most amazing stay at the Belmond - Casa de Sierra Nevada, and we already can’t wait to go back. We have never left a review for a hotel but felt compelled to write this because of just how perfect our stay was. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. My wife and I were traveling to San Miguel on a Baby Moon, and when we arrived they had a mocktail ready for her and pregnancy pillow already in our room. This is just one example of how thoughtful and attentive the staff was. We were also immediately blown away by the beauty of the property. The hotel itself is the perfect combination of luxury and authentic San Miguel beauty. The rooms were spectacular and the pool was amazing! Also the view from the Tunki rooftop bar was fabulous. Lastly, the food was delicious. We loved every dish we had at the hotel - they had a great variety of unique foods. While everyone took care of us so well, we want to especially thank Octavio, Laura, Alejandro, Andres (both of them!) and Jorge. We are so grateful for such an amazing trip!

Paradise Away From Home

We came here for a family wedding, with multiple couples and individuals. The staff was phenomenal, they went above, and beyond every single time! The city itself is so magical.

Great location

Location was excellent if you stay on Calle Hospicio because its minutes walk to the restaurants and churches and the center square. I gave 5 stars for the staff, they went out of their way to meet our needs. Look for Ana she is very quick and speaks fluent English and very organized. They will print you out an itinerary for your stay if you have booked other services at the hotel. They will book a car for you to go out to any of the vineyards or a day trip to Guanajuato to see Diego Rivera museum or the Mommy's. Just letting you know the airport transfers are extremely costly but we asked for that because it was our first time going there. SMA is a very beautiful little town, kind and friendly people, lots of good food and architecture. However the photos on the hotel website are somewhat deceiving, If you look for a room that's says balcony, make sure you get one or else you'll be paying for one without it and just an inner common courtyard. We booked for a room with a balcony, there wasn't one, when we arrived and so we were offered a room at the Park which we thought was too far to walk to the main drag, the other room we eventually took was on the same street as the main hotel but there was no balcony which we paid for and a main common courtyard. We were also warned about a bar right behind the room, not connected to the hotel, which played loud music into the night. We felt the price of that junior suite should have been discounted for this inconvenience. This kind of bait and switch isn't good for business if you want repeat customers. The location of rooms for this boutique hotel are scattered around the area due to the steady assemblage of land around so you could be given a room in the Park area and you'll be told its only 6 mins away from everything, but 6 mins is relative, for me it would take 10-15 and to have to do that on the 3' wide two way sidewalks or cobble stones and traffic perhaps twice a day. its a choice we made to stay on Calle Hospicio. The rooms are spacious, a study desk and chair would have been very useful. The housekeeping staff were prompt and thorough, they took care of the rooms and organized everything so neatly. The restaurant at the Park location is also not open everyday of the week. there is a hotel car that can bring you back and forth, just wait time here and there. The food in the hotel is average and not many choices, only eat there if you can't get to the many great restaurants around. We used the spa and the ladies were kind and gracious however if you have any concerns please find Juana, she speaks english and is helpful. Our overall impression is that the charge per night is not justifiable when you have to put up with a lot of things listed.
