Beautiful hotel and I can sum it up fairly quickly. 1. Stayed in Room 10. High style, high noise. You hear EVERYTHING. The restaurant especially. You can also smell the food, which was great, but it lasted for hours. I heard the people above me doing things I can't discuss here very late. But, good for them, right? Stay in a top level room. 2. House cleaners were spotless. 3. Tried to get dinner reservations twice, never got the call I was promised. 4. Asked for bottled water a few times, never got it. Most places in Mexico shower you with bottled water. Not here. 5. Parking. Park at the door, they will take it and greet you. There is no parking area. 6. I felt the check in and check out was a little impersonal. It was all business. I have stayed in several other places and typically they make you feel very welcome. Its paperwork here. Nice hotel, but there are better, so do your research.

Quick Overview: Very quaint, clean, and comfortable hotel with a friendly staff (most of whom speak English) and a central location. Room: My wife and I really enjoyed our cozy and quite clean room. The bed was firm, but we slept wonderfully. The star of the show was that we had a little outdoor sitting area with stairs leading up to our own private roof-top patio (totally awesome). Bathroom was huge and featured a steam shower. We had plenty of closet space, the internet speed was good, and the mini bar / fridge was well stocked. Spa: Wife did a 75 min massage and said it was one of the best she's had. She loved the products and said the quality of the massage was amazing (saying she's picky about her massages and spa treatments would be a grand understatement so this is really saying something coming from her). Food: We stayed for 3 nights and ate breakfast each morning in the restaurant. The food was great, the service was so friendly and accommodating, and the setting couldn't have been more relaxing. We loved the salsa verde! I do have to mention that on the first day of our stay, while we were having some cocktails and snacks during the early afternoon with friends, we were informed that the kitchen closes at 3 until dinner time, but that we could come back and eat dinner then. Per instruction, we came back and wanted to eat dinner around 6:15 pm but were informed that this was not an option because they were booked solid. Apparently we needed a reservation, as they had been booked for the past week. At this time, literally no one was sitting in the restaurant, and come to find out they didn't have reservations until 8 pm. Needless to say, I was able to get us in for a quick dinner with the promise that we'd be done by 8. Honestly, this kind of irritated me because we could have been told earlier that 1. we would need a reservation (I guess I could have asked, but still) 2. they were full for dinner (if you want to count 8 pm reservations as full). After all this, as much as I hate to say it, I found the dinner menu to be disappointing. Given, I had just left a happy hour and was wanting some tacos... if you're wanting traditional Mexican food this is not the place to get it. Due Praise: Rarely does housekeeping get the praise they deserve, as they are kind of the unsung heroes behind the scenes, but in this case I must say that they were responsible for a great deal of our satisfaction during our stay. They were quick, efficient, and truly did a magical job on our room during our daily cleaning and turndown. I only had one encounter with the ladies when I showed up to our room while they were cleaning, but they were so sweet and accommodating. Our room was spotless (I have a habit of noticing the little things, and truthfully I can't say I found one thing they missed - great job)! To Note: This is not the most quiet hotel. Noise from the restaurant can easily be heard in the bedrooms. There are church bells that you can hear starting at least by 8 am, though I didn't find them to be of much annoyance. You can hear street noise and music from passing cars (a high volume of passing cars have their stereos turned up). Those clean floors you enjoy just outside your room, yea those are cleaned somewhere around 8 am as well (this is definitely a rise and shine type of hotel- which isn't necessarily a bad thing). The door on our room used an actual key, and without actually locking said door it was known to open on its own. And finally, I developed a love/hate relationship with the wall air-conditioning unit. It was very effective at times, slightly effective during sleeping hours, and overall kind of complicated. By the 3rd night I was a professional and had all the kinks figured out. Also, it might not hurt to have any airport transfers scheduled before your trip, as several people in our party, ourselves included, had some miscommunication resulting in delays. Final Thoughts: Please don't let the above paragraph scare you away, as we really liked this property and would definitely consider staying here again upon any return trips to the city. I just call it like I see it.

We stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas vacation. We fell in love with the town the moment we arrived The hotel is right in the heart of the town, just a short walk from the main square with plenty of restaurants and stores all around. The hotel itself is a historic property decorated in a mid-century style. The combination is perfect with lots of warmth and charm, unique and not something you will find elsewhere. We had 2 rooms, one for our teenage sons. We actually had 3 rooms over the course of our stay as they offered to move us to a better room half way through. All 3 rooms were terrific with spacious sitting areas and luxurious marble bathrooms. The best room was on the 3rd floor with a private rooftop deck with gorgeous views of the town. I can't say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff both in the hotel and at the restaurant. There is always a doorman waiting at the entrance to help you. We ate at the Aperi restaurant for Christmas dinner and it was outstanding. Continental breakfast was included with our room and we paid a small additional charge to have full breakfast. Everything about the restaurant is special, from the decor to the service and food. The balcony of our 2nd floor room overlooked one of the restaurant prep rooms. Definitely a "foodie" destination. Many great places to eat in town. We fell in love with San Miguel de Allende and with this hotel! Hope to come back soon.

For those looking for an exquisite hotel with top notch hospitality, incredible food, and all the modern amenities of a top tier hotel, look no further. I just left this hotel BLOWN AWAY by our experience and I can't say enough about this place. Only about 12 rooms in total, it apparently was once a house, then B&B, then converted to a small luxury boutique hotel with the addition of the spa and restaurant only 2 years ago. We were greeted with a delicious passion fruit "welcome cocktail" upon arrival and escorted up to our beautiful room on the second floor by the gracious Demetrio who assisted us with our every need. Heated floors, a very large shower with dual temperature shower heads, plush robes, Molton brown and aromatherapy toiletries, an in-room nespresso maker and large cabinetries were merely the tip of the iceberg with this place. The staff was warm and welcoming, always there to address our every need promptly and without hesitation. With a heavy travel schedule, we were in desperate need for laundry which they had done for us in a matter of hours. Room service was the most reasonably priced and delicious I've ever had- order the tostadas. Having arrived with a head cold, they arranged for me to have a steam in their spa for 30minutes which I did- twice. It's incredibly private, only 1 (or 2 If you're a couple) guests at a time. And the attendant was incredibly kind and professional. I cannot stress how accommodating and doting they are to their guests. I have truly never experienced hospitality so focused and personalized. Having heard so much about the hotel Matilda, I was curious to explore that as well. We arranged for dinner at Moxi (Matildas restaurant) that evening and while the hotel is certainly aesthetically beautiful and well maintained, it lacked the personality of Dos Cabas. Additionally, we had dined at Pujol (Enrique Olvera's world ranked restaurant in Mexico City) the night before and sadly Moxi (another Olvera restaurant) paled in comparison. That said we were pleased to have chosen Dos Casas after that. Last but not least, I have to mention the restaurant at Dos Casa - Aperi. Shame on us for only eating there once for lunch. Some of the best food I've ever had - my words won't do it justice. Do NOT Skip it. I would not be surprised to see it added to the best restaurants of the world list at some point.

The hotel was one of the prettiest we have ever stayed in! We were surprised at how spacious the room was, but it still felt cozy. The bed was comfortable and the extra touches made us feel welcome (chocolates on the night stand, the bed turned in the evening, and the books available in the room to read). The staff was AMAZING! We felt safe, and they recognized us and our group, so we were greeted by name which was very welcoming. I would definitely recommend the spa services - great deals for fair prices. The hotel was conveniently located very near to restaurants (both big and small) and also near the market place and cathedrals so sight seeing was on our agenda everyday. The breakfast included with the room was delicious and filling.
