Marvelous hotel in the Grand style. It would be difficult to fault anything in the hotel, the rooms are well maintained, the service is polite, breakfast buffet very good. Lovely position with great access to the beach. Highly recommended.

This hotel is rated as a 5 star so perhaps we expected too much ? The staff were very attentive and polite but the overall upkeep of the complex leaves a little to be desired. The breakfast was okay but again not 5 star, doesn't compare with other hotels visited on the Amalfi coast and Sicily. We were expecting a private beach but I think you have use of a section occupied by a independent restaurant if you arrange with reception. We haven't eaten dinner in the restaurant so should not comment but if breakfast and other guests feedback is to be taken into account it is overrated and overpriced, there are plenty of excellent establishments within walking distance. We would not return or could recommend this Hotel.

This is a delightful luxurious hotel very well situated in Sanremo. Rooms are large and well appointed though the sheets could be of better quality. Service is courteous and friendly. Breakfast buffet is excellent and the pool area is very nice. The spa with health club is excellent and definitely worth visiting. All in all an excellent choice in Sanremo.

This is the third time we have stayed at this beautiful hotel but we have a few issues. When booking we made a particular request twice and when we arrived they had ignored our request eventually we were given a room to our requirements but only after a fuss. Think the translation they do from English to Italian gets confused rather than just plain unhelpful. We love to relax by the swimming pool and swim but this year the water was freezing for over half of our holiday which kind of spoilt it. Is this an attempt to cut costs by not heating the pool to its previous warm temperature? Halfway through two coaches of a certain Spanish bank stayed. This completely changed the character of the hotel - not in a good way. Noisy behaviour late at night. If The Royal are going to do this on a regular basis we will not go again. Had an appalling experience in the restaurant. The food is not up to standard. The execution of the menu is awful. When staying in September there is no alternative to their 'fine dining' - sometimes during a weeks stay it is nice just to have a simple meal. We ate out in the town because of the lack of choice. But it is a brilliant place to stay, we just hope that the drop in their usually high standard is not going to be permenant.

We stayed 2 nights in a room with a wonderful sea view and balcony. The check in process was fast, people were courteous and respectful. Beautiful, quiet surroundings. We loved the salt pool! Breakfast buffet was more than fantastic. Service at the pool was good. We chose to have dinner in the lounge area and enjoyed the live music. Room furnishings were quaint--agree with others about the bathroom needing a bit of update. Overall, we enjoyed the old world charm. Superb views. Fine service.
