Absolutely felt pampered my entire stay! I was greeted by Valet, introduced to the front desk and escorted to my room! The room was quite large and gorgeous. it was a walk to get to but it was beautiful out so I didn't mind. There was a gas fireplace in the room and heated bathroom floors. There was a large sunk in tub and the shower was to die for! It was one of those Rain Showers. I felt like I was getting a massage! It was my birthday weekend and they left me a bottle of wine and some chocolate covered strawberries which were delicious! A wonderful way to start my stay! I also had tea at the restaurant. It was very good. The only bad thing is that it was so hot that the dessert part of the meal melted. :( The service was great and the food also was great. I ordered room service as well. I had the chicken Caesar salad and it was really good. the best part though was the bread and butter!! Rich and creamy! I didn't try the pool but it looked beautiful and there were plenty of chairs. I visited the spa retail because I forgot my toothbrush and they gave me a free sample toothbrush. I mean everything you could ask for you received. I had a lovely time and will return!

We have stayed at the Belmond a number of times and enjoyed many memories there however we may now look elsewhere based on the last visit. Upon arrival we had the usual experience of easy check-in and a couple of upgrades which were greatly appreciated. The suite was clean, large, private, quiet, and a delight. Service was our challenge from here out. I don't think I was able to raise the valet on the phone to arrange our car or the shuttle: it just rang. When we did arrange the 'complementary' shuttle, they were great at dropping us off; unfortunately, they strung us along and left us for the pick up even though I called and was told 'they are on their way' and then later 'let me call the driver and call you immediately back.' We stood around for a long time (+1 hr) before grabbing an Uber. Upon check out we discovered some additional resort fees added to the bill which were not disclosed at check-in, and when we were asking about them the front desk was quite understaffed and handling a 'situation' so our questions were basically answered with 'yep that is there and how it is; any other questions?' The staff, front desk, valet, servers, etc (not room service which was spot on) all seem to be local college age and a mix of well trained and then the others are learning as they go. For a five star hotel, one would expect more polish and refinement. It's not enough to have the grounds and the rates without the service, hence why we will look elsewhere for our week long getaways in SB.

Our 4th stay in room 2703, if there is a better Santa Barbara experience I would love to see it...We were greeted with a nice birthday surprise by Macy Weiser. John (front desk), Paul/Benjamin (valet), John (bartender), and Alfredo (server) were professional, attentive, personal and engaging. They represent Belmond very well. We enjoyed breakfast outside and the views are nearly unforgettable. The shuttle to downtown is a real ammenity and we take full advantage of it. Room 2703 is special...We love the balcony and the bed is very comfy... General Manager Shaun O'bryan oversees this staff with attention to detail, work ethic and a sense of humor. We love this property and will be back...
We checked into El Encanto on Saturday September 23 for 4 nights. Upon checking in Jesse offered a glass of Prosecco. Nice touch. There was a wedding taking place therefore it was a bit of confusion but after talking with Michael (one of the resort Manager's) he made our stay perfect. The Spa was such a lovely experience as I spa wherever I go. The property is well maintained, very peaceful and serene. We dined there one night on the deck outside as the sun was setting and it was so romantic. Kelly our waitress was very attentive. Food was excellent. One night there was a pianist playing in the bar. Nice way to end our evening. Highly recommend Belmond El Encanto.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It's a beautiful, elegant property, with a lovely pool area, attentive and friendly service, good food and very comfortable, well-equipped and large rooms. We arrived late at night after a long drive, which made it feel like our room was right on the edge of the property but actually that was nice and peaceful so we didn't mind. We weren't too bothered that the hotel wasn't in town or by the beach, as we were happy to take it easy and chill by the pool. We loved the atmosphere in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner, and the pianist playing in the lobby. The hotel obviously commands premium prices but we did feel that the succession of small charges which get added to the bill were a bit much, and left something of a sour taste in the mouth. For example - valet parking is $35 per day. You have no choice but to pay this, as you will inevitably arrive by car. So valet parking should be free of charge. We also had a ridiculous conversation with one of the waiters when my wife ordered a continental breakfast (which was advertised as including coffee), only to be charged separately for the espresso she ordered - espresso is apparently not "coffee". The menu should have been clearer, or the waiter should have let it go. Unfortunately because almost everything you do attracts a fee, the charges leave too much of an impression and it would be good to see the hotel chill out about similar minor charges because they leave a bad impression.
