Reviews for Belmond El Encanto
Beautiful hotel, great location, excellent service, great restaurant. A great place for families, rooms are luxurious, a definite repeat when I return to the area. The wine selection was awesome and the by the glass menu extensive.

Spent three nights here in mid March. The service is beyond outstanding and the bungalows are spacious with gas log fire places and private decks. The landscaping is quite beautiful and the restaurant has a nice selection of soups, salads and seafood. Although the bungalows are spread out, there is an intimate "feel" to it. The spa does a brisk business

I could sum this review up one word, Perfect. From the Damien Hirst on the wall upon arrival, to the personally embroidered shams in your bedroom, everything was perfect. And I don't mean the nicest, or most expensive, or gaudiest, I just mean perfect for us. The hotel is a splurge (as I imagine it is for most people,) however I feel like they really splurge on you back (that sounds weird, but it's true) The service is unpretentious and friendly without ever seeming forced or intrusive. The grounds are immaculate, but accessible and unstuffy, and the amenities are peerless. Nobody there makes you feel like you're spending a ton of money with a forced obsequiousness or haughty attitude, and I have the sincere feeling that they treat guests who are staying there with the same graciousness and hospitality as those just coming by for the view.

Decompressing is the precise reason that we arrived at this sun-drenched jewel of California. A rapid flight away from La La Land to my love for sunshine, tacos, boho anything, mountains, vineyards, rugged beaches and last-but-not-least, Old Hollywood glamour. Here we lounge among the tall eucalypts, peach juleps from the club house to the pool while gazing at " Americas Riviera". The Spanish colonial-style bungalow room is private and oh-so lux. Our plans are fluid...Uber15 minutes to Stearns Wharf's crab shack at sunset, to savour a Bloody Mary in the ocean breeze, tuck into chowder, lobster and sea urchin. Does anyone need more encouragement to follow the well-worn footsteps?

I really wanted to like this restaurant more. The view is what you go for! The service was completely inattentive...asked for bread several times (none brought), asked them to light a heater 3 times and was told none were working, but then they lit one for another table and brought it to them, needed to ask to have water filled up multiple times, valet was not around to get the car so had to get the concierge to retrieve it and he brought the wrong car, etc. . Had the Halibut which was completely over cooked (and it wasn't just mine...another had it at our table and it too was over cooked).
