Highly recommend the El Encanto when visiting Santa Barbara. Beautiful water & city views from terrace, great rooms, and outstanding service.

MY ROOM TYPE Deluxe Room ROOM VIBE Old Spanish with flair. SPACE FOR YOUR STUFF Generous enough. Suitcase out of sight. THE GROUNDS Super atypical, a few buildings along a few paved trails on a gentle hill. Gives more the vibe of a cute village than a standard hotel. Pool overlooking the Santa Barbara bay has a breathtaking, unexpected view of the whole city. You can even spot the pier. STAFF Friendly and attentive. FOOD Not my favorite. Looked good on paper but everything was super sweet (savory dishes included). SOMETHING I WOULD CHANGE Keep the pool bar open longer?

We booked thru Amex Platinum and were excited to stay here. The front desk attendant was a jerk and did not listen to physical problems one of us had and gave us room 3006 which is up 2 flights of stairs, at the very back of the property and next to a loud road, also with no outdoor space. it does have a fireplace which was supposed to be the prize according to the fornt desk attendant but who needs that in summer?

We came back here to celebrate our anniversary after meeting here 9 years ago at a wedding. We had the most amazing time. The staff and the grounds make you feel so taken care of and at home. The property is so well cared for and there is so much care put into all aspects of our stay.
