About the Hotel

If youâ€(TM)ve ever wondered where Hollywood celebrities go to escape the bright lights, Montecito Inn in Santa Barbara, California, holds the answer. This historic property, built by cinema legend Charlie Chaplin in 1928 as a getaway for his closest friends, was a prototype for such retreats. Graceful domes, crafted ceiling coves, arched windows and French doors complement the propertyâ€(TM)s Mediterranean style. Take a dip in the pool, relax in your soothingly decorated bedroom or fireplace-adorned suite, and then meander to The Montecito Café for California Nouveau cuisine.

Wonderful Historic Property in a Beautiful City

We truly enjoyed staying at the Montecito Inn. This is an amazing historic property. It was fun being trasnported back to the 1920's and thinking what it must have been like for the guests when the Inn first opened and Charlie Chaplin was the owner. The staff were incredibly helpful. It is an easy walk to great restaurants and stores. Places close early - but we found a fun bar to have a late dinner nearby - The Rodeo Room (not really a cowboy place - but great food, excellent drinks and a fun atmosphere).

Charming

Wonderful hotel, restaurant, service, people, and overall vibe. Felt elevated yet very comfortable and homey. Property has beautiful vintage appeal and hallmarks. I would recommend to a friend. Happiness 😊

Nothing like being right in the heart of Montecito lower village

I spent a few days at the Montecito Inn and it was more like spending a few days with some most excellent cousins. Front desk, Bell service, restaraunt staff, Chef, Housekeeping… all professional and helpful at every turn. I would return.

Small uncomfortable rooms

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Tiny inconvenient rooms - especially bathrooms. Room seating was terrible. Breakfast was expensive and not very good. 35 minutes to get order. Location is great - but that’s the only reason to stay there.
