Breathtaking view, excellent staff and gorgeous restaurant and sitting areas, fireplace room, and im sure the best hotel in the area. The problems i) not much to do but eat. no spa, pool is cold and small, no gym, no music, Ii) Over priced for what you get, the rooms are just ok and bathrooms are old, iii) the area is boring. Lake is too cold to swim.

This is an extraordinary hotel. The views are among the most spectacular in the world. The hotel is magnificent. It is like staying in a museum with all the owners wonderful Guatemalan antiques and objects d'art from all over the world. We were lucky to stay in the best room, the Cerro de Oro. The suite is huge with many rooms and two balconies, with extraordinary views. The swimming pool which is private for three rooms at the hotel was beautifully constructed. The food is delicious. They have a new chef who is extremely talentless, charming and very anxious to please. Carmen Ochoa is the manager of the hotel and she is a professional of the highest order. She also brings great warmth and skill to the job. This was probably the best housekeeping I have ever had. The entire staff is wonderful in every way. The hotel has a guide named Regie Chavez who was marvelous as our guide for ten days. I would definitely suggest asking for him. Our driver Wilsom, as also very special and an excellent driver in very challenging conditions. The hotel is extremely expensive but, it is worth the money. kudos to a marvelous place. The hotel does not have any TV which did not bother me. the Internet is spotty. A final word- this hotel is definitely not for anyone handicapped in any way.

This is a small, very charming hotel about 1/2 mile from a small lake town, Santa Catarina. Views are amazing, and the large terrace and the dining areas highlight the great lake vista. The rooms are excellent -- our room, #2, could have used better lighting especially in the closet area. Bathroom was great, with a lake view from the large shower. The food is pricey for the area, and the somewhat limited menu didn't change during our stay which was a negative. Luckily, our transport guide had us buy some snacks and drinks before we arrived. Be aware, there is no great walking from the hotel except on the narrow winding road. In contrast to our hotel in Antigua (Posada del Angel), this hotel booked us with a guide for 3 days who was nice but not that knowledgeable or able to communicate with us about what we were seeing. We were quoted prices in dollars, but the bill was issued in quetzales at a slightly inflated conversion rate of 7.6 so our bill will be higher than the quoted price.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels in a magical spot. Wonderful welcoming service and delicious food. Every detail has been well-thought out and the decor is amazing. It was hard to leave the hotel but the front desk arranged some great excursions for us and we deeply enjoyed our swims in the lake and the pool.

The view to the volcanos, the decore and the staff makes Casa Palopó a magical place. The food is although delicious and the gate to the lake so you can see the lake and take a swim it is beautiful. One of my favorite hotels in Guatemala.
