Checked in to be told I was upgraded to a suite, yay! Suite is on the first floor. I try to decline the upgrade but "nothing else is available." Um, okay. I enter the room and it looks like something from the midwest. All browns and taupes and cracked leather. Horrifyingly, the light beige (!) couch has two massive and upsetting stains on it. The room smells stale. The bed, which I am paying more than $500 to sleep in has a noticeable and highly uncomfortable list to the left. I thought I'd try this hotel in lieu of the Casa del Mar or Shutters where I normally stay. Never, ever, again. I stayed at the Biltmore in Santa Barbara and it was lovely, but this hotel is like some terrible, seedy Motel 6. And the fees are absurd, $46 for overnight valet parking, $15.99 for wifi...c'mon. And the TV system is antiquated. The room I am in is appalling and if I weren't exhausted from a long drive here I would have checked out and into a better hotel. Give this one a pass if you're looking for comfort and class, and a go if you're looking to spend a lot of money for a seedy experience. There was ONE person at check in. The valet was nice, that's the reason for the second star.

I've stayed at the Fairmont Miramar a few times over the past 3 years. This is a good hotel, with a great restaurant, and a even better outdoor bar area (known as The Bungalo). Love the fact that there are free bikes, a nice sized gym, a pool and several bar areas. Unfortunately all of the rooms I've stayed in have be quite dated (old showers, old carpets) and I have not yet stayed in one of the renovated rooms which are supposed to be much nicer. However, I'd stay here again because you can't beat the location, or the Bungalos!

We stayed here for 3 days. The hotel and grounds were beautiful, but parts of them were closed off for most of our stay due to special events and filming. We had to use the side entrance most of our stay. The rooms are very small and cramped and the pool area was small and could easily get overcrowded. The spa and workout facility were really nice. Finally, the hotel staff were helpful and pleasant.

The Fairmont is by far the best hotel in Santa Monica, and this is someone who has stayed at every nice hotel in the area. I just spent ten days at the Fairmont and had a great experience. They were very accommodating and the crew at the hotel are extremely helpful and nice, specifically Doug Max and Raymond. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful including an indoor/outdoor bar and dining area. The pool is gorgeous and great for kids. I definitely plan on staying here again on my next vacation. You can't go wrong with this hotel, take my advice and you won't be disappointed. Sincerely, Orna.

From the initial quick response from Raymond G on my questions to our last moment on checking out this trip will be remembered with great fondness. Our flight in changed and we were extremely early. The staff was very accommodating and notified us directly when our room was ready. Extra items to help make our celebration memorable were set up by the hotel which made us feel special. All staff we encountered were friendly and very professional. The room was well kept and daily maid service was very detailed orientated. The on site Fig restaurant food was excellent and staff very friendly. The Hotel is away from the Pier which we liked the beach area across from Hotel not as crowded. Pier well with in walking distance ha mile. I know where we will stay again if we ever get back to Santa Monica.
