This hotel is very small (a little over 10 villas). the jungle conditions makes the experience most unique and unusual. at times it is not as plush ( going to the outdoor bathroom in the middle of the night) but the bedroom is very comfortable. the A/C is ice cold and the mattress and beddings are superb. The food at the restaurant is unbelievably good but make sure you go out and check other dinner restaurants in the area. the spa os amazing and the pool is most useful. the sunsets are the best you will ever see and the yoga studio is also a treat. above all is the people that are working at the hotel. all of them make you feel very special. everything you want or need is provided to you before you even ask for it. we had someone loading our roof rack with the hote's surfboards so we can take it to another beach. on a different occasion we came back at night and while it was raining heavily someone waited for us outside with an umbrella in the dark parking lot. the ocean is very rough but you can find some natural pools or drive to a nice beach 4 min north.

spent 6 days here , not 5 star , maybe 3.5 star accomdations basic, poor finishes , windows need proper blinds , too much sun , doors dont close tight , critters get in , no beach service , even though they say yes , MIA on the beach and pool , basic rooms , spotty wifi , no cell service , the food though is very very Good , excellent menu , should add more sandwiches , grilled fish, pizza?? nothing in room to eat or drink ie snacks , very remote and hard to get to , they discourage going to town , but there is lots in town, over priced in my opinion , not 5 star , basic club med style .

WE had a good room, the bed was very comfortable. We had to have a staff come in and put a blanket over the windows, the window was wide open to morning light, we like to sleep past 5:00 am. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Overall Flor Blanca is VERY expensive for what you receive. WE were disappointed

Firstly let me say that Florblanca is a perfectly pleasant resort located in a beautiful part of the world. There was nothing I found to be outright bad during my six night stay, however my main problem is that this place is marketed as a luxury resort, is priced as such but falls well short of this in my opinion. In the interest of fairness let me elaborate upon what I did like. The rooms are lovely, even the most basic villa will be large and tastefully decorated with natural touches such as lightshades made too look like old insect nests. I really liked the pool and restaurant layout, though with all the trees you will be swimming amongst some a few dead leaves which didn't bother me much. As for the food - pretty much the nicest/cleanest food I ate during my whole stay in Costa Rica, however if you're vegetarian like me you'll literally be eating the same thing every day bar breakfast, even if you're not, the whole menu is quite limited overall. Where this place falls well short of its luxury price tag is as follows. 1) Facilities or lack thereof: the fitness centre is tiny with room for about three people at best. The company through which I booked my holiday (no fault of Florblanca) led me to believe that this place is a health and fitness resort. Well this doesn't extend much beyond the Yoga & Pilates classes (which are charged separately) and twice during my stay the Pilates instructor didn't show up. Beyond that there is no personal training or other fitness related activities available within the resort. 2) The beach: Private beach sounds nice, but the beach at Florblanca is very rocky and not safe to swim in outside of low tide. The resort is however just around the corner from Playa Santa Teresa which is much nicer. 3) The Spa: Don't get me wrong, the massage rooms and décor are high class, though I didn't see other facilities I usually associate with a decent spa like a sauna or steam room. Far and away my biggest bugbear was how this place is marketed on it's website. The viewer is treated to footage of people jumping off waterfalls, mountain biking, snorkelling, horseback riding etc. None of these you can do at Florblanca, in fact the resort is actually very small and all these supplementary activities are arranged in and around the local area at extra cost through the resort though you can always walk 20 minutes down the road and find a company that will arrange such a trip at a cheaper rate than what the resort were charging. Outside of your room, breakfast and use of some of the facilities everything is charged as an extra, so if you don't intend to rack up a chunky bill of extras and don't surf you'll be very bored after a few days. In terms of value for money this place is very very poor, just as a comparison I stayed six nights at a luxury resort in Koh Samui a few years back, for the same price as just the room and breakfast at Florblanca I got a private villa which was just as big as the rooms here, full board including all snacks, a huge buffet breakfast and personalized meals based on my fitness progamme, three personal training sessions, three massages, two sauna sessions, one personal yoga session as well as being able to avail of complimentary group fitness and cooking classes along with free to use facilities such as a better equipped fitness centre and steam room. Oh and few of the day trips were free too.

I did not stay at the hotel but had the privilege of doing yoga with the wonderful Stefano. The shala is in a lovely setting with a view of the ocean and Stefano was a wonderful instructor. Just enough humor to get you out of your head and to distract you from a challenging but thoroughly enjoyable practice. Towels and mats provided as well which was nice.
