Avant Garde Suites in Santorini, Greece

With its runway-fresh sensibilities and designer-inspired style, Avant Garde Suites brings to Santorini an innovative departure from the more traditional resorts found on the Greek Island. Located in Akrotiri, about 12 kilometers from the city center of Fira, you will enjoy a secluded location with breathtaking seascape views. The resort's generous use of vibrant color within each suite makes a dramatic statement against a backdrop of Grecian white. Furnishings are bold and whimsical. Bathrooms resemble mini spas and are cloaked in hues of fuchsia and other unexpected shades. Some suites even have their own private whirlpools. You are welcomed with a chilled bottle of Champagne upon arrival, and breakfast delivered to your doorstep daily. En-suite spa treatments, romantic dinners and other indulgences can be arranged at your request.

Luxury knows no limits at Avant Garde Suites. Take a dip in the refreshing pool or enjoy the warmth of the sun from atop a double lounger. Indulge in dinner by candlelight on your private balcony complete with your own server and a menu of seductive edibles. Venture beyond the resort to discover Santorini's rich history and stunning scenery. Akrotiri is known for its incredible and unique red and white sand beaches, stunning views of the Caldera and a fortified Venetian castle that is still standing. Slip into a taverna for a taste of ouzo and souvlaki or shop for treasures along the narrow streets of Fira. The island's rich volcanic soil helps to nourish the many grapevines that are eventually crushed into fine wine. A visit to any number of island wineries makes for an idyllic afternoon.

Amazing small apartments with very friendly staff. One of the loveliest places we have ever stayed Our first time in Santorini. We will definitely be back. Quiet location with a few small bars and restaurants. Not a very long walk to the beach. Quite hilly though

We traveled to Santorini for our honeymoon, and spent eight nights at Avant Garde suites in October. We were upgraded and looked after brilliantly by Zoey and the team. One of the reasons we chose Avant Garde was for self catering. The upgraded rooms do not have a kitchenette, so Zoey offered me the use of the hotel kitchen (mostly used for breakfast), which was absolutely wonderful. The views from Avant Garde are spellbinding, and the breakfast is served in your room and you can enjoy the view from your balcony while munching on great quality breakfast. The location is also amazing. You are very close to Akotiri village, which has several tavernas and a mini market, and also some beautiful views from the town. Red Beach, the historical Akotiri ancient excavation site, and about ten tavernas and bars are a half hour stroll away on the eastern side of the island. Also, there is a bus stop right out the front of the property and a friendly and well appointed mini market just across the road. Facilities include an outdoor pool and bar, an indoor pool which includes a spa, and a small exercise area (fit balls, some mats, a good treadmill and a basic cross trainer). The rooms are well appointed, the wifi is really good (we even hooked our laptop into the TV so we could watch NETFLIX), the mattress is good quality and you have a lovely balcony with an amazing view and a private Jacuzzi. The only thing to be mindful of is the wind as the property is exposed (cant have the amazing panoramic view over the caldera (cliff edges leading to the water where the volcano site is) without exposure to the elements. Travelling in early October we likely hit a period of strong winds. Five stars all around. Great stay!

This was a lovely place to stay and perfect location. You have great views of the caldera and right next to amenities. We initially thought we should stay by oia or fira but after visiting there and seeing the lack of privacy of the hotels staked on top of each other, we're really glad we choose avant guarde. The hotel was spotless, the pool area was never too busy and you can choose to have breakfast delivered to your room at no extra charge. There is a bus stop nearby but we rented a car, this was easiest and the hotel has plenty of free parking. The women behind the desk was very helpful in helping us to book dinner/ excursions and nearly all of her recommendations was excellent.

We planned our Santorini vacation less than a month in advance and could not find anything reasonable in Oia and Fira, which was a blessing in disguise. Totally loved our stay in Avant Garde, Akrotiri. The place has a beautiful Jacuzzi with mountain and volcano views and we spent many hours chilling in the Jacuzzi, pool and sipping Mojito at the pool bar. The staff is very friendly and helpful and breakfast is served in the room or the pool based on your preference. The taxi arranged at the reception cost us 20 euros to Fira and a taxi from Oia back to the hotel cost us about 45 euros (just after sunset). There is also option for a bus or ATV/ car if you have your driving licence. Oia and Fira were very crowded and hot so it was great to return back to Akrotiri and hibernate till next evening. Red beach is about 3 km from the hotel and cost us 3.5 euro for 2 people in the bus (though there is nothing great at the red beach). Overall we had a great time at Avant Garde and were quite happy with our stay!

Visited in September 2015. Great resort, with lovely daily breakfast bought to your room. Great pool with a poolside bar and beautiful views. The bar made some quite good strong cocktails (which is unusual for a touristy island, in use to most hotels watering down their drinks). The private jacuzzi on our balcony was a huge plus and a nice way to relax. The location of this hotel is a little more secluded but was not a problem for us. We rented a quad bike for our stay there and we're still able to go anywhere and explore the island if we wanted. In satin. That there was a small convince store and a couple of lovely tavernas with great food within walking distance.
