Reviews for Esperas
My wife and I stayed at Esperas for 7 days, and loved everything about it. The rooms are perfect and quaint, the breakfast they serve each morning is delicious, the location of the hotel gives you the best sunsets in Santorini, the pool is clean and ideal temp with a view of the ocean, the service from the front desk was phenomenal with great recommendations for restaurants. We will be back, and highly recommend!!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Esperas! There is a bit of a family feel to the hotel, and the warm knowledgeable staff make you feel like their long lost family member connecting you to their beautiful home to be sure you never want to leave. We initially booked the superior suite (room 117) liking that we could sit in the Jacuzzi to watch the sunset.. The room was lovely and we especially loved how the master bed faced a large window so the first thing you see as you wake up is the Caldera view. The space also has 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette, a huge patio, indoor sitting area and a second bedroom with twin beds. This space would be perfect for a family vacation. Unfortunately since it was late October (right at the end of the season) the beautiful stone tub could not warm enough for our high standards of heat. When we asked if anything could be done with the tub they first tried to raise the heat and then offered to move us to the honeymoon suite which has a plastic tub which retained heat better. The honeymoon suite was also lovely with 2 smaller balconies, indoor sitting area, bedroom and 1 large bathroom. The space feels incredibly private and cozy and was wonderful for us honeymooners! Katerina had wonderful suggestions for tours and was helpful when booking. We loved the yacht tour around the caldera. And when my husband left his glasses in a taxi as we hurried to our tour Katerina was able to track them down and return them! The breakfasts were lovely as was room service which we often ordered to our little balcony as we watched the incredible sunsets. There are quite a few concerns about stairs, which are necessary to the structure of Oia. Unfortunately this space would be difficult for someone with major knee/ hip or mobility challenges. Some may need to take them slow and pack shoes with padded soles (ballet flats won’t cut it!) and for those I say the beauty makes it worth it! Esperas feels like a bit of magic!
From the moment we arrived in Santorini, Esperas was there to greet us. We scheduled transportation from the airport to Esperas per their suggestion. We were greeted at the airport and were taken to the hotel in a large, clean, comfortable van. The gentleman talked to us about what we were seeing on the drive. A nice introduction to Santorini. You cannot get all the way to the hotel by car. There are steps and cobblestone pathways which makes this hotel charming and unique. When we arrived to the drop off point, a strong young man, I think his name was Altone lifted our 2 huge suitcases up on his shoulders and carried our bags to the reception area of the hotel. It was an unbelievable sight. Amazing! We were warmly greeted by Stella who checked us in and showed us to our room. The view from our room was nothing short of spectacular!!! You see people gathering in the late afternoon to get a spot to watch the gorgeous sunset in Oia. When you stay at Esperas, you simply go out to your private patio or the beautiful pool area and see the spectacular sunset at your leisure. Heaven! Stella, Nikol, Katerina and Vicky always greeted us in the reception area and were always there to help with questions, suggestions and making dinner reservation if necessary. Breakfast was delivered every morning to our private patio. You fill out a Breakfast preference everyday for the following morning and a time for it to be delivered. Kevin and Dimitris were there every morning with our breakfast. A beautiful way to start your day. Esperas has a wonderful restaurant, Ombra. Maria was our server while we were there. She always made us feel so welcome. She made excellent suggestions and taught us a lot about Greek food and culture. I learned from Maria that I was drinking Ouzo incorrectly. I will always drink it like the Greeks from now on! We had dinner at Ombra twice during our stay. Delicious! We visited the pool bar in the late afternoon where Casey, the bartender took good care of us. A great way to watch the sunset if not on your private patio. We often ended the evening with a nightcap at Ombra where Maria and Casey were there to enthusiastically listen to us share our experiences of the day. If you want a spectacular view of the caldera, gorgeous Santorini sunsets and wonderful service, then you must stay at Esperas!

The other reviews were all right! This place is amazing. It was such a great choice for our honeymoon. The staff is so great which we experienced right away with the driver who picked up us at the airport, to the man who amazingly carried our bags down (and then up) all those steps to the woman who checked us in. The great service continued. The breakfasts were amazing only topped by the amazing sunset view. This was the number one reason we chose this hotel, and it did not disappoint. Warning there are a ton of stairs, especially as we were on the very bottom level, but it was a great workout and worth it for the view and privacy. We also had dinner at the hotel one night which was great. I cannot recommend staying at Esperas enough!

We had an amazing 3 day stay in September. As all the other reviews say it is in an incredible location. There are lots of steps so do not stay here if you have any walking difficulties (100 steps from entering the hotel to our room!!) This does mean you have the most fabulous view. Breakfast was good and served in our room. Service was generally good, but had to ring several times for all our breakfast order as we were missing a few things.Room was clean, however some of the fittings are getting slightly old and generally feels a little dated compared to some of the other hotels we stayed in in Greece. Also nowhere to hang any clothes in our 2nd bedroom. Unfortunately when we were there the sunsets were real none events. We didn't mind this but what did bother us were the drones flying over head whilst waiting for the sunset. Despite signs around Oia, drones seem to be a major problem and annoyance. This comes with being at the "sunset end" of Oia. We did enjoy our time at Esperas, quiet long walks in the morning, relaxing by the pool, walking down to the little port below where we had the best lunch whilst watching the waves crashing. It is certainly a must visit destination. All in all, an expensive but amazing few days.
