Reviews for Hotel Cala Di Volpe

very very special and extraordinary

This was the third time we have stayed at this wonderful hotel. However, I would like to start with a warning: if you are looking for a typical beach hotel, you could be disappointed. The Cala di Volpe is something special in many ways and not just a 5-star hotel on the beach. Originally built as a private guest house, it has retained a very special, almost family-like charm that is very rare to find in a hotel anywhere in the world. But it doesn't feel like a classic holiday either. Every day you feel as if you are part of a big opera show. It's like going to La Fenice opera house in Venice knowing that La Traviata was once premiered here. You have to get to grips with the history of this house to enjoy it: who has been here, the architecture, that a James Bond film was shot here. The way it is embedded in nature, its own little harbour, where guests arrive to eat at the hotel or to be seen... It is a very unique experience that you should experience at least once in your life. The other points are quickly explained: The rooms are top notch and have recently been renovated, food is exquisit, there is a great kids club, water sports activities, etc. And there is a dress code for dinner, which I really appreciate!

Amazing hotel, amazing service

Not only was the room comfortable and the hotel property spectacular, but the service went above and beyond. A shout out to Annalisa, a concierge, who, knowing I had a gluten allergy, brought me freshly baked gluten free bread.

Indulgent luxury to spoil ourselves because we are worth it!

A few days with friends at this gorgeous hotel. It’s been around since 1963 so they know what they’re doing when it comes to service and hospitality. Our room was fabulous with garden and sea views. Every little detail was taken care of. Expensive and luxurious b

Cala di Volpe -- One of the Finest Luxury Hotels in the World!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

We arrived for a 5-night stay at the fabulous Hotel Cala di Volpe. Our room, 226, was on the 2nd floor at the center of the hotel, above the Atrium Bar, with a breathtaking view of the most picturesque bay in the Mediterranean (check out those yachts), along with the pool (largest saltwater pool in the Mediterranean). The hotel itself has high-end shops like Prada, Bulgari, and Dolce & Gabbana, and unique hand-made furnishings throughout. We arrived just before lunch closed at the Cala di Volpe Barbeque, and ate what seemed like a 10-course meal…everything from Margherita pizza to lamb chops, linguine and clams prepared at the table to fresh sea bass. The bellinis are the best we’ve ever had, and we ordered them at every lunch. We dined at the highly acclaimed Le Grand every evening. Dinners are beyond delicious. Meal courses are prepared at your table by expert chefs, and we enjoyed an array of pastas, seafoods, and beef fillets; every meal was perfect. As great as the food is at Cala di Volpe…and it is spectacular, the staff made the entire trip a fantastic vacation. The wait staff and sommeliers each have years of experience and it certainly shows. Thanks Valerio, Enrico, both Guiseppe’s, Roberto, Luca, Eugenio, Silvia, and Alesandro; Francesca was great as a hostess, seating us promptly; Sergio, thanks for sailing us to the beach (we arrived each day at 10am and had the entire Li Itriceddi Beach to ourselves); Francesco, attentive to setting up the beach chairs. Thanks also for the cake and strawberries with chocolate sauce to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary…a much appreciated and tasty dessert. It should also be noted that I was limping around using a cane due to an Achilles tendon injury, and the staff was on point at all times being attentive to my every need. Cala di Volpe is the absolute jewel of Costa Smeralda and the Mediterranean! Highly Recommended if you are seeking a world-class vacation!

Scandal

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

My friend who is bound to a wheel chair could not do something as simple as going to the bathroom because there is no handicap access. When questioned the hotel manager had no answer why there was zero access. If this hotel was in the US they would be shutdown fior violation of Americans with Disability Act ADA. This SHAMEFUL hotel caters to the wealthy but is horrible if you suffer from a disability. Wow MARRIOTT reallv!! Shame on vou.
