If you are going to stay in Sausalito this is the place to be. The prices are high because you are paying for the view. And a lovely view it is, Sitting on the balcony and looking over the bay was very peaceful. And even though it is right next to the Sausalito ferries-- that was of no disturbance. The location is truly in the heart of Sausalito. The breakfast spread was very nice, even though the room where it was located was a bit small for the number of guests. In the afternoon, wine and cheese was served in the same room. We wish that the hotel had more of a common public space, but it was not to be found, so go for the rooms with the balcony. They will gladly serve breakfast or wine to your room. We had a queen room with a balcony. It was smaller, which was not a problem but the way it was laid out there was no room to open two suitcases, a problem that too many hotels do not think about. The night tables were cluttered with magazines and the minibar items, making it even more difficult to place your items. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were fine. Of note for older folk, it appears that none of the rooms have stall showers--and the tubs were very deep with a ledge next to it--so for those with any mobility issues climbing into and out of the tub to take a shower could be a real issue. It was a climb in for two older but mobile adults. The valet parking was very convenient and cars were brought to you immediately. The staff could not have been nicer and exceeded our expectations.

What a wonderful place. This hotel, although pricey, is well worth it. The views from the room are spectacular. We didn’t really want to leave the room just so we could soak up the vista, human and wild life passing by. I’d fully recommend a room with an outside balcony. Each evening there is a cheese and wine tasting. This can be taken in your room if requested. This is a highlight of the stay. Breakfast is continental, but the quality of the offerings was at the very highest of standards. Fresh fruit and bakeries plus freshly brewed coffee and teas. This can also be requested for the room. Point to note: the volume of supplies is limited so your favourite cake or croissant may be taken if you have a lie-in. The rooms and furnishings are top notch. The bed was comfy and there is seating and reading material provided in the room for consumption. The bathrooms are well equipped. There was no noise to affect our stay. Parking is limited, but it’s all valet and the hotel are very accommodating for both leaving and arrivals throughout the stay. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. If you are looking for a higher end stay location you can’t go wrong with The Inn Above Tide. Highly recommend.

Love this hotel!...You have to reset your expectations here... it is not a full service hotel, but a bit more like a Bed and Breakfast. With simply the best views of the bay, and you are literally over the water...[that is why the prices are higher than comparable nearby places]. The bed was so comfy and the place was spotlessly clean.... Bvulgari products in Bathroom.. We spent two days completely holed up in our room watching whales and sailboats, with the occasional seal raising its head for a look around. Just next door is a great restaurant [Barrel Tavern] and a short walk is Sushi Ran, one of the most well known and regarded sushi places in the San Francisco area. You are also immediately adjacent to a ferry, so you can hop into the city without worrying about your car... Breakfast is fresh fruit and perfect pastries... The staff is spot on, with special note to Maxamillian and Tommy! We have stayed here many times, and this last visit we chose the penthouse, which was worth the upgrade... views, views, views... and a side room with gigantic jacuzzi tub looking out over to San Francisco!

Simply a spectacular property with an amazing staff and management. Candidly, we had an issue in our room, the kind of issue we'd prefer not to be confronted with on a relaxing afternoon in a premium property. Max at the front desk exhibited exceptionally helpful customer service providing an immediate room change and other accommodations. Despite that blip, my wife and I had a wonderful time and I strongly recommend The Inn Above Tide it's a fantastic hotel.

Beautiful facility with wonderful people, but I can't give it 5 stars because upon checkout we were charged $24 a day for parking...We paid to stay at their hotel and since they didn't have room inside they parked us in the public parking and charged us for the parking. That was ridiculous!, otherwise great place.

Just returned from a four-day stay at The Inn Above Tide and can't say enough good things about this jewel - a truly enjoyable and quality experience. The quiet room couldn't have been more comfortable or of higher quality. And the view across S.F. Bay - spectacular, especially at night from the balcony. Also, how many places offer complimentary wine and cheese at night? All in all, a delightful place with an intimate, upscale ambiance and very friendly staff.
