Stunning hotel in Savannah Georgia with amateur check-out experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

Let's start with the good. The place is stunning and smells better then anywhere I've ever been before. The decoration is beautiful, the pool is lovely, and the pool bar has a great menu. The lighting in the rooms is particularly impressive, with soft highly adjustable lighting in both rooms. The location is quiet but not too far from the downtown- just a 35 minute walk or 10 minute drive. I came on my honeymoon and it was extremely romantic. We did have 2 complaints that marred our stay a bit. The first was the food. I had heard great things about the food before coming and when I saw a room service menu on the desk when we came in, I was excited to try. We ordered breakfast. I called around 10:30am, clicking the 'room service' button, and the person who picked up wasn't sure if it was too late to order. This was very strange given the menu stated breakfast ran until 11am on the top in bold letters. Then the food came. It was all good, but nothing was really special. Somewhere less nice that would be fine, but when you hear sourdough on a fancy menu you don't expect toast. It was very nice how they set it up in the room though. The second is checkout. Check out was a complete disaster for a place of this caliber. We had set up an hour late checkout and were ready to leave at 11:45. We had 5 large bags since we were here after our wedding at the end of our honeymoon, so we called down to have a cart brought up to bring our bags down. They confirmed that our bags would be brought down and our car brought out since we used Valet. 30 minutes later we are still waiting in the room starting to get pretty impatient. There is a knock on the door, and it's someone from the front desk telling us it's past our checkout time. We told him we had been waiting for a cart to bring our things down and he radioed housekeeping 2x without a reply. Then told us he would go downstairs to check. Another 10 mins later we are getting very antsy. I called down again and they were pretty unconcerned. We had now been waiting about 45 minutes and the response was that the place was busy with checkout and we couldn't get an estimate for how long it would be. We ended up lugging our bags downstairs ourselves. We got to the desk and the woman there asked how our stay was. We said it had been good until checkout and she said okay that's great. Surprising response. Then we went our to valet where our car was and no one offered to help load despite the $60 per night charge to use Valet. Disappointing end to what was otherwise an amazing stay.

Dinner at the hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We had the pleasure of private room, dining at Saint Bibiana located in the hotel, the attention to detail and professionalism did not go unnoticed, this was one of the most enjoyable experiences I had during my Savannah stay. The service and the food deserve a five star rating, I want to thank the staff and owners for providing tourist and business associates this level of service

Birthday at Bardo

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I stayed at Hotel Bardo with three other girls for my birthday weekend and had an amazing experience! Sean and hotel staff went above and beyond! From a complimentary birthday surprise to the immaculate jobs the cleaning crew performed daily on our room, we couldn’t ask for more. The hotel offers complimentary rides within a 2 mile radius and we loved having Franco drop us off places. Highly rec renting a moke as well! The pool, the people, the property made this stay 10/10! Oh and the water on tap (still AND sparkling) on every floor was the cherry on top!

An unmatched experience in Savannah!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Hotel Bardo is unlike any other! The property is absolutely beautiful! Not only is it located on, and overlooks, Forsyth Park; every space within the hotel is so thoughtfully designed. I feel like I’m in an Architectural Digest magazine! My room was pristine (thank you Yuri), and so cozy! The staff is so warm, and welcoming. They’ve offered fantastic recommendations for activities and dining throughout Savannah, and they were so kind to leave a personal note in my room on arrival! A stand-out experience was dinner at Saint Bibiana. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere of the restaurant was just right, and the service staff nailed it across the board. Special shoutout to Hans, Trystan and Leo for answering my endless questions! My new favorite hotel in Savannah, and one you certainly don’t want to miss!

Coolest hotel in the South?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Very tasteful, design-forward, cool vibes in a beautiful historic building on Forsyth Park. Service is impeccable - attentive and quick to respond! The pool scene is almost too good — you’ll want to stay the whole time. Delicious food and the servers are so friendly (shoutout Andon) / give great recommendations for places to see around town. Highly recommend!!

The Mansion delighted our senses and whetted our appetite to return again soon. The art, ambiance and atmosphere are simply stunning and thoroughly sensational. My wife and I are seasoned travelers with a preference for the very best – Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, St. Regis, etc. We now anticipate a long and memorable relationship with the Mansion on Forsyth Park.
