Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia, is one of America's most interesting cities. Its series of squares, coupled with its superstitious nature, makes it a fascinating find. In the heart of the city's Historic District is the magnificently restored 1888 Mansion on Forsyth Park, a AAA Four-Diamond property. Mansion on Forsyth Park gives southern comfort new meaning with its collection of lavish guest rooms, an extensive art collection featuring more than 400 original pieces, and opulent public rooms including a lobby cloaked in onyx marble. Classic décor along with modern conveniences create a historic and indulgently luxurious hideaway.

Mansion on Forsyth Park's restaurant, 700 Drayton, is a stunning dining destination with a menu of savory specialties and an extensive wine list. There is also Casimir's Lounge, located on the second level of the restaurant and featuring live jazz and blues on the weekends, as well as the Bosendorfer Lounge. You can also visit the Poseidon Spa, hone your culinary skills by enrolling in one of the Mansion's cooking classes, or relax poolside. There is never a shortage of things to see in "America's Most Haunted City" - do a little ghost busting on a haunted history tour, or take a trek on foot to admire the splendid architecture, with many door frames, porches and window sills coated in "Haint Blue" to ward off evil spirits. More conventional activities might include shopping along the riverfront, slipping into a jazz club, or dining at The Pirates House, named for long-ago patrons who frequented the eatery in the late 1700s, which was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island.

The park was lovely, but the location is not the most convenient. The hotel does have a very useful shuttle bus that will take you to their sister hotel down on the riverfront. Nice touch. You do have to pay for valet parking. The decorating in the hotel is apparently their "competitive advantage." My daughter found it attractive, but my wife and I found the room extremely dark. Thus, to me, the decorating was a negative. I called it "Faux Chic." Breakfast was quite good and the staff serving it was extremely nice and helpful. My wife and daughter enjoyed the bar and pianist. In sum, my 26-year-old daughter would stay in this boutique hotel again. My wife would stay again. I would not stay here again. In my opinion, given the price, Savannah Residence Inn is a much better choice.

Valet needs improvement. Did not open car door, it was pouring rain and the attendant used the umbrella for herself while I and my luggage got drenched. Also the hotel did not have any umbrellas for guests to borrow. I had to go buy one and got drenched again walking to the store. Front desk was friendly. Room was nice but clear doors for toilet does not provide privacy. Shuttle to river street was very helpful!

-beautiful old building right on Forsyth park -very friendly staff a check in--gave me great recommendations for activities and restaurants -room was large and well appointed with nice views of the park--careful, though, you can easily be seen through the windows by people in the park! -breakfast restaurant was very nice, can sit outside with nice views of the park (though food was a bit overpriced and just good, not great) -pool was small, but nice to have, and refreshing on a hot day -the bar staff was very nice--and they put out some nice free appetizers one of the nights, though I wish this was more consistent -a wedding was happening there one of the nights, and the noise didn't travel or bother us in our room, which I noticed and appreciated

I was shocked at the neighborhood this hotel was located in. Driving to the hotel was a little sketchy, but the hotel is beautiful. Valet parking is a little pricey, The room was comfortable and we enjoyed the luxury feeling of the hotel.

I booked two rooms at this hotel for a girls weekend to celebrate my best friend getting married. There were 7 of us total. I used the mobile check in to request an early check-in so that I could place gift bags in the rooms before my guests arrived. I received my notification that the rooms were ready at 3pm just as I had requested! When I arrived at the check-in desk, everything went smoothly and I was asked details about my plans and even given helpful recommendations -like the shuttle that runs from the Mansion to the Bohemian hotel downtown where you can visit Rocks on The Roof & being able to buy trolley tour tickets at the front desk which I had already planned as a potential activity for us to do. The hotel interior is ABSOLUTELY beautiful -there is art EVERYWHERE. A for the rooms, we had the Forsyth Park view which was nice. The music playing when we entered the rooms were a welcome touch. We felt right at home. Our walk to most of our planned activities was around 15-30 minutes! You should try to eat at the Italian restaurant just a half block away -Cuocco Pazzo Cucina Italiana. It was amazing and a close choice for dinner on the night we arrived! Make some time to enjoy the pool!! Also, you can park on the street in this area of Savannah -just pay attention to the street cleaning schedules posted on the signs! All in all, just a wonderful stay!!
