Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia, is one of America's most interesting cities. Its series of squares, coupled with its superstitious nature, makes it a fascinating find. In the heart of the city's Historic District is the magnificently restored 1888 Mansion on Forsyth Park, a AAA Four-Diamond property. Mansion on Forsyth Park gives southern comfort new meaning with its collection of lavish guest rooms, an extensive art collection featuring more than 400 original pieces, and opulent public rooms including a lobby cloaked in onyx marble. Classic décor along with modern conveniences create a historic and indulgently luxurious hideaway.

Mansion on Forsyth Park's restaurant, 700 Drayton, is a stunning dining destination with a menu of savory specialties and an extensive wine list. There is also Casimir's Lounge, located on the second level of the restaurant and featuring live jazz and blues on the weekends, as well as the Bosendorfer Lounge. You can also visit the Poseidon Spa, hone your culinary skills by enrolling in one of the Mansion's cooking classes, or relax poolside. There is never a shortage of things to see in "America's Most Haunted City" - do a little ghost busting on a haunted history tour, or take a trek on foot to admire the splendid architecture, with many door frames, porches and window sills coated in "Haint Blue" to ward off evil spirits. More conventional activities might include shopping along the riverfront, slipping into a jazz club, or dining at The Pirates House, named for long-ago patrons who frequented the eatery in the late 1700s, which was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island.

Terrific location overlooking Forsyth Park. A great location if you enjoy walking and exploring this gorgeous city. My room was comfortable and well appointed. The bed was terrific, and I liked the lobby and bar area. Staff were friendly. The cold water and warm cookies were a friendly and welcomed touch! I'll stay here again and I have recommended to others traveling to Savannah. Once you master finding the elevator bank, it's great.

I hated all the art in the building, was sort of unnerved by it. Also, the signage is terrible; for example there are no signs in the hallway directing you to the elevator. And, when you get off the elevator on the ground floor there is no sign directing you to the lobby. The staff was very helpful and nice. There is a free shuttle downtown. The bathrooms are very odd, starting with doors that open out onto the bedroom (maybe if you are on your honeymoon that is a positive) and glass doors for the toilet and shower.

We loved this property. We appreciated the quiet location across from Forsyth park. Being able to walk the park, go to the Earth day festival and Farmers Market was wonderful. There are beautiful homes surrounding it! Our room-318 overlooked the pool. Beds were comfy and we liked the music awaiting us upon entry. The toiletries are poor quality so bring your own. The conditioner actually made my daughter's hair more dry and brittle and the body lotions was liquidy and provides no true moisture. And there's no shower gel, only very drying bar soap. The relaxation pool is 3 ft. It's nice, but small. Drawback is that there aren't enough lounge chairs or space for many around the pool. Everyday we tried to go it was full. I wish the hotel could remove the tented outdoor area which was consistently empty and not utilized, and instead enlarge the pool size and lounging area. This really was the only negative we experienced here. We so looked forward to relaxing by the pool after a day of touring, however there weren't seats available & the small pool was full of children and families (spring break for many). Also, there's no drink/food service at the pool, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the staff we encountered daily were friendly & helpful. The hotel shuttle was convenient. We used it to be dropped off for dinner at The Pink House & to Vic's on River St. The hotel bar is nice, but only one bartender was present to service which seemed understaffed with such a full house of guests in attendance. The fitness room was average. Concierge level offered continental breakfast. The scrambled eggs were disappointing, liquidy and gross to be frank. I feel like they were instant & they had weird liquid in bottom of the skillet. Also, it's a small room so there wasn't enough seating available for breakfast here. The afternoon service was zip. U had chips or granola bars to choose from and water and coke. Pretty weak for a Kessler property. The artwork around the hotel was interesting. The staff made this hotel a pleasant stay. Next time we will try the Bohemian hotel as it's in the center of the action and nightlife.

My small tour group stayed here, and, boy, were we sorry. Full of contemporary art, the hotel seems cool, but that was smoke and mirrors. Breakfast was weird. The two of us were the only ones in a very large restaurant made up of several different rooms. Mine was delicious, my husband's was not at all. My husband and I extended our stay an extra night, only to learn that the hotel's policy is to clean rooms by 5 pm. Imagine how annoying it was to leave our room at 8:30 in the morning and return around 3:30 to an unmade-up room. The make-up mirror was about to fall off the wall, the nice-sized bathroom window looked very dirty in the sun. I will say the room was nicely sized and the bed was very comfortable. Parking is a joke. They charge $26 a day for valet parking but don't mention that you can park on the street for free. As out-of-towners we had to figure this out ourselves. The wifi was spotty, and our room key which was necessary to access the elevator failed a few times. The people at the front desk could not have been nicer, but my impression is that management is not on the job. I would not recommend this hotel.

I never stayed on the first floor of a hotel before however it was ok.. Just a tab bit of noise however after telling the staff they had the music turned down which was gracious. This hotel was wonderful... Again the staff was great, very accommodating and mannerly. We had breakfast at the 700 restaurant there in the hotel and absolutely loved the cheese grits (I want some now)... The hotel used to be a mansion and you can see that with the small charming rooms.. Each floor has beautiful artwork. There are enchanting mirrors all around the first floor.. We even enjoyed having a drink every evening in the bar. We also loved the fact that they have charming college students working there. Great place to stay.
