Mansion on Forsyth Park

Nowhere near worth the price! (Almost $1,000/ night). To put into perspective, I travelled the next night to a Residence Inn, in a different city, paying a fraction of the cost and it was so much cleaner, more comfortable and better service. As we pulled up and got out of the car 3 valet did not even acknowledge us as they passed by, the 4th one did. Our “upgraded” room was on the first floor by a busy exit and entrance to the hotel and pool area, we could hear all of it while in our bed. This room smelled of mildew and felt damp. The shower had black mold and mildew all over it. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The pillows were not fully filled and basically stuffed with clumps of cotton. To make it better I tried to fold it in half but the end had a big plastic attachment that I kept laying on and waking up. I just didn’t feel comfortable in the room at all. I knew more about the city and where to go than the concierge. The renovations to the rooms were poorly done and worse than when it was the mansion… The pool area is beautiful, it’s nice having Saint Bibiana connected, the driver being available is great. Forsyth park is beautiful and nice having it nearby. Other than that DO NOT waste your money by staying here. Such a disappointment.

If we were just rating the facility-quality of the rooms, valet service, etc. we would give a five star rating. However, food and food service was terrible. We sat at the poolside bar where there were three bartenders and average size crowd for over 15 minutes with bartenders passing us by without as much as a greeting or eye contact. They carry cameras, and while being ignored again, one of the bartenders spent time with the couple next to us taking pictures. I had to stop him & tell him we wanted to order. We ordered bloody mary's and after 5 minutes where he had still not started them, we left and went across the street. We had reservations for St Bibiana that evening. If you know good Italian food this place is to be avoided. First, we sat at the bar for a drink (the only ones there), where the bartender sat two glasses of water in front of us, again without a greeting or eye contact, nor was anything said to us when we left for our table. Once seated we found the table to be quite unlevel so they moved us. We started with the Wagyu carpaccio which should be removed from the menu entirely. My wife ordered the Pappardelle which was unappetizing and virtually inedible. I had the Branzino which could have been good had it not been overly salty. We didn't finish. Breakfast featured a fruit cup with unripe strawberries and cantaloupe, and cold eggs benedict. None of the wait staff appears to be polished or well trained. One waiter was wearing sweat pants in what is supposed to be one of Savannah's best restaurants. When were were preparing to leave the next morning, I went to get change for a $20 for tips & no one-front desk, the bar or the restaurant-had any. We could go on.

When you go on a escape weekend accommodations are important but having a driver who can be attentive show you the benefits of the city be there with a smile be informative is what we had in Franklin from the hotel bardo. He made everything right he was polite friendly and honestly made us talk about coming back
