Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia, is one of America's most interesting cities. Its series of squares, coupled with its superstitious nature, makes it a fascinating find. In the heart of the city's Historic District is the magnificently restored 1888 Mansion on Forsyth Park, a AAA Four-Diamond property. Mansion on Forsyth Park gives southern comfort new meaning with its collection of lavish guest rooms, an extensive art collection featuring more than 400 original pieces, and opulent public rooms including a lobby cloaked in onyx marble. Classic décor along with modern conveniences create a historic and indulgently luxurious hideaway.

Mansion on Forsyth Park's restaurant, 700 Drayton, is a stunning dining destination with a menu of savory specialties and an extensive wine list. There is also Casimir's Lounge, located on the second level of the restaurant and featuring live jazz and blues on the weekends, as well as the Bosendorfer Lounge. You can also visit the Poseidon Spa, hone your culinary skills by enrolling in one of the Mansion's cooking classes, or relax poolside. There is never a shortage of things to see in "America's Most Haunted City" - do a little ghost busting on a haunted history tour, or take a trek on foot to admire the splendid architecture, with many door frames, porches and window sills coated in "Haint Blue" to ward off evil spirits. More conventional activities might include shopping along the riverfront, slipping into a jazz club, or dining at The Pirates House, named for long-ago patrons who frequented the eatery in the late 1700s, which was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island.

Great staff who were knowledgeable and competent. Interesting Art work within the hotel. The room was spacious and well maintained. The Location was perfect right off the park and quiet at night. There is a well appointed restaurant attached which had great food and great service. My wife and I used the spa services within the hotel's dedicated spa and found it to be a relaxing and restorative experience. I really have no complaints.

This was our first trip to Savannah, and we loved the cool vibe of this hotel. All of the public spaces feel dramatic and inviting. The room itself was clean and nice, but the bathroom layout is poorly designed with a very small shower and a clear glass door to the toilet area. There is no privacy if someone is using the sink at the same time. The location is fine, right across the street from manicured Forsyth Park, but it is about a 10 minute walk to the heart of the historic downtown area and about a mile (25 minute walk) to the riverfront. The staff was very helpful and friendly, from the front desk to the doormen to the valets (parking is valet only). Wish the breakfast that was included on the concierge level had more variety. Overall, a wonderful stay!

I was shocked at the poor cleanliness of our sleeping room. Outside windows were dirty, mold in the shower, and furniture in bad need of replacement. Dirty green velvet material hanging from the bathroom sink and vanity area. And frankly - it isn't close to anything so we spent lots of money on ubers and cabs. I was disappointed in the front desk who kept giving inaccurate information. One of our rooms was not cleaned - and at almost $400 a night - it should have been. I went to the front desk who told me "it had to be requested". I said I'm not talking about turn down service - my room was never cleaned all day. He kept insisting you had to request it. Our final bills were messed up too. Concierge was never there - so no one to ask questions about the area. One of our rooms we couldn't check into until 4:30pm. Overall very disappointing - would never return. Don't let them give you a room next to the interior patio. You can hear people on the patio day and night. I asked to be called by management, but of course no one has ever reached out.

Overall, our stay at the mansion was good. The staff could not have been more friendly, including the waiter in the bar area as well as the doorman. Breakfast in concierge lounge was good and had a nice variety. Fresh flowers in the elevator were a pleasant plus. While I noticed that there were a higher percentage of older (over 50) guests, the hotel had this odd techno-pop music piped throughout the hotel. While I realize you can't please everyone, mixing up the Muzak might be a step in the right direction. Beds were comfortable overall, but there was dust on chandelier fixtures in bathroom as well as bedroom lamp. Shuttle service to downtown area was very convenient.

This hotel is a gem. It's very art and design-focused, with paintings filling all of the walls and corridors. The lounge is cozy and trendy at the same time. The rooms, and the entire hotel for that matter, are filled with character and very well maintained. The spa is a bit small but very relaxing, with highly attentive massage therapists and estheticians. Every staff member I encountered, including Gloria the concierge, spa staff, the front desk receptionists, wait staff, housekeeping, and valets, were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful.
