Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia, is one of America's most interesting cities. Its series of squares, coupled with its superstitious nature, makes it a fascinating find. In the heart of the city's Historic District is the magnificently restored 1888 Mansion on Forsyth Park, a AAA Four-Diamond property. Mansion on Forsyth Park gives southern comfort new meaning with its collection of lavish guest rooms, an extensive art collection featuring more than 400 original pieces, and opulent public rooms including a lobby cloaked in onyx marble. Classic décor along with modern conveniences create a historic and indulgently luxurious hideaway.

Mansion on Forsyth Park's restaurant, 700 Drayton, is a stunning dining destination with a menu of savory specialties and an extensive wine list. There is also Casimir's Lounge, located on the second level of the restaurant and featuring live jazz and blues on the weekends, as well as the Bosendorfer Lounge. You can also visit the Poseidon Spa, hone your culinary skills by enrolling in one of the Mansion's cooking classes, or relax poolside. There is never a shortage of things to see in "America's Most Haunted City" - do a little ghost busting on a haunted history tour, or take a trek on foot to admire the splendid architecture, with many door frames, porches and window sills coated in "Haint Blue" to ward off evil spirits. More conventional activities might include shopping along the riverfront, slipping into a jazz club, or dining at The Pirates House, named for long-ago patrons who frequented the eatery in the late 1700s, which was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island.

Everyone was amazingly nice and the hotel is really beautiful inside and the rooms are also really cool. I loved this hotel and the adjoining restaurant had pretty good food especially breakfast. It's right across from a huge park with amazing trees and is also a nice walking distance to the historic district and squares savannah is known for. Highly recommended.

My husband and I spent two nights at this beautiful hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, from the valet to the front desk to the bellhop. They were very helpful with restaurant and tour suggestions. The room was perfect, the bed was extremely comfortable. We also loved the artwork around the hotel. It was a perfect stay and there is an incredible staff.

The valet and bellman upon arrival were quick to help and get my wife and I checked in. The FOM was happy to offer some amazing suggestions and was able to get us into our room early. The room was fantastic. Great views of the park, lots of space. The bed was absolutely amazing. One thing to note where there could be some attention given, the pool area. In previous stays we enjoyed the water fall, however it was not on this trip. The wall where the waterfall came down had rust stains on it. The tiles around the pool were quite dirty and in desperate need of cleaning. There were also quite a few tiles missing. The towel basket needs replacing as it is shredded and falling apart.

I was thrilled when I learned we were headed to Savannah since my first visit was incredible. I recommended we stay at the Mansion because my previous visit had been wonderful - unfortunately that was not the case this time. The check in process was efficient however the staff person wasn't interested in showing us any southern hospitality and knew absolutely nothing about the area. Our room was nicely appointed however we were facing a parking lot (I have Platinum Elite Status with Marriott) and the room had a very bad odor. I called the front desk about the smell and they assured me they would send someone up to handle. When we returned home from dinner we walked into a room with the window wide open - no screen and we were on the second floor. The room still smelled. I called the front desk three times for pillows and spoke to the same gentleman and guess what, we never got pillows!! The breakfast in the lounge was horrible not to mention the room was a complete mess. I love my Marriott points but I definitely would forego them for a different hotel in Savannah. We were very disappointed when we stopped at the lounge and there was nothing available - not even water!!!

I liked this hotel. It had charm, and would make a decent place for a wedding party to stay. I was staying as a delayed honeymoon, and that was a fail. I was shocked that staying for about a week, and dropping about $3500 on the room, got me no one at the front desk recognizing me. It is the personal touch you expect at this level of hotel, but it felt more like a normal motel. It is a bit of a walk to the downtown activities, but there is easy access to the gorgeous park.
