Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia, is one of America's most interesting cities. Its series of squares, coupled with its superstitious nature, makes it a fascinating find. In the heart of the city's Historic District is the magnificently restored 1888 Mansion on Forsyth Park, a AAA Four-Diamond property. Mansion on Forsyth Park gives southern comfort new meaning with its collection of lavish guest rooms, an extensive art collection featuring more than 400 original pieces, and opulent public rooms including a lobby cloaked in onyx marble. Classic décor along with modern conveniences create a historic and indulgently luxurious hideaway.

Mansion on Forsyth Park's restaurant, 700 Drayton, is a stunning dining destination with a menu of savory specialties and an extensive wine list. There is also Casimir's Lounge, located on the second level of the restaurant and featuring live jazz and blues on the weekends, as well as the Bosendorfer Lounge. You can also visit the Poseidon Spa, hone your culinary skills by enrolling in one of the Mansion's cooking classes, or relax poolside. There is never a shortage of things to see in "America's Most Haunted City" - do a little ghost busting on a haunted history tour, or take a trek on foot to admire the splendid architecture, with many door frames, porches and window sills coated in "Haint Blue" to ward off evil spirits. More conventional activities might include shopping along the riverfront, slipping into a jazz club, or dining at The Pirates House, named for long-ago patrons who frequented the eatery in the late 1700s, which was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island.

Check in service with Tracey was outstanding. A couple of quirks but handled with plomb and professionalism The first encounter with the hotel and truly a plus because of her service attitude. The decor and ambiance reminds of the old "carriage hotels " that existed in numerous cities at the turn of 20th century. Restaurant "Le 700" had an eclectic menu that I'm sure pleases all the palates. Pricing is tad high but this is overcome by gracious server Andreana. She catered to all our needs and did so with a smile. Breakfast service in concierge lounge was abominable understaffed, understocked, and underwhelming. Could'nt handle 9:30 crowd of guests which a lot of people unhappy. Auto valet was asked to have Car available in 10 minutes (not 8 minutes) ( not 12 minutes). He also served as bellman. Did not arrive at our room until 35 minutes after our request. This last impression, Unfortunately, will be a lasting one. Team cohesion and addition to detail make all difference in hotel.....

We were transferred here from another hotel that had been oversold. It is amazing. Very well appointed. Only thing I would criticize is the bed and pillows. But other than that flawless. I did see dogs around the hotel. If I had known I'd have brought mine. It makes it even better.

Arrived late in the evening and the team working the front desk, I believe her name was Tracy was amazing. She was helpful and welcoming after a long day on the road. The rooms are spectacular as one would expect from an autograph property Can't wait till we come back

Beautiful Marriott property with great special touches. Beautiful decor and room amenities. Location is perfect to great restaurants and cafes without being directly on Riverfront. The shuttle will take you to their sister property on the river which is a great amenity but the walk anywhere is gorgeous. Great hospitality Definitely will return and stay here! Thanks Marriott for a great weekend!

The park was lovely, but the location is not the most convenient. The hotel does have a very useful shuttle bus that will take you to their sister hotel down on the riverfront. Nice touch. You do have to pay for valet parking. The decorating in the hotel is apparently their "competitive advantage." My daughter found it attractive, but my wife and I found the room extremely dark. Thus, to me, the decorating was a negative. I called it "Faux Chic." Breakfast was quite good and the staff serving it was extremely nice and helpful. My wife and daughter enjoyed the bar and pianist. In sum, my 26-year-old daughter would stay in this boutique hotel again. My wife would stay again. I would not stay here again. In my opinion, given the price, Savannah Residence Inn is a much better choice.
