We stayed in room 2101 after booking hotel tonight. The hotel was available last minute for a discount for a reason. It looks like a converted apartment building, not a doubletree hotel as someone there on staff speculated. The website is a total lie. No one is mixing awesome libations near the pool. When we arrived on a thursday no one was to be found, the "bar" was caged up, the pool ice cold, no happy hour in the main bar, was totally dead in there, no music anywhere, bathroom "rail" door would not close, so no privacy, outdoor loungers were filthy as well as the purple carpet which was disgusting and tacky. We left early, hotel was nice enough to comp our room becuase of the multiple problems there. Only positive was location and beds are comfortable. Feel bad for staff that has lazy management and doesn't care.

I’ll preface this review by saying I’ve stayed at the Saguaro many times in the past but thought I’d do a new review. I stayed there this past weekend. Overall the hotel is a fun place to stay. It’s located right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale - a perfect location in proximity to all the shops, bars and restaurants. The biggest draw for me is pool areas. The hotel has two pool areas: the main pool is a long rectangular pool with tons of loungers, some outdoor beds and several cabanas. At the far end of the pool is a large warm spa. The pool is surrounded by buildings of room on two sides and the fitness/spa building in the other side. Also, there’s a bar located at the main pool that’s open Friday, Saturday and Sunday but not the rest of the days (because there just isn’t enough traffic those days to justify keeping it open and staffed). During the day, they have music playing fairly loud and it’s a party atmosphere albeit not a crazy Vegas-style party. I’ve stayed there on almost every day of the week and the pool is usually very chill and not crowded Monday-Thursday but busy on the weekend. There is a second pool (Calma pool) is a smaller round pool with a cool waterfall located just across the main walkway. This pool is smaller, quieter and more private. It is surrounded by room buildings on three sides and has several loungers, tables and daybeds. Overall, the pool areas give the hotel a sexy, fun vibe and are great places to spend your time at the Saguaro. The crowd is mostly adult couples and singles. They get a fair share of bachelor and bachelorette parties. On the weekends, there is usually a pool party atmosphere with people drinking and swimming. At night, the pools are great, private, quiet fun places to come swim or sit in the spa or just hang out on a bed and look at the stars. Usually in Arizona, the weather at night is really warm and so the pools are a perfect romantic location or a nice place to relax, have a drink and enjoy the warm night air. The pools are open all night so they’re a great place to come after going out at the nearby bars for night swim. There are plenty of towels out at the pools which a great convenience. Also, the fitness facility is good for a hotel with several treadmills and other cardio equipment as well a decent setup of free weights, resistance machines and a total station. The spa is nice but small with several rooms equipped with massage tables. They adjoining room that are great for couples massages. The rooms at the hotel are basic but comfortable. As other reviews have mentioned, the hotel is decorated with all warm colors like pinks, oranges and yellows. The decor is a bit dated and the hotel could use some renovation. But the price for the rooms is usually fair. Note: this hotel is not very kid friendly. If you have kids, there are probably better choices nearby. It’s better suited for business travelers and adult vacationers looking for a fun, sexy, retreat close to lots of bars and restaurants. The hotel is a short walk to many of these. Also, make use of the golf cart cabs that roam around to get to and from nearby places. Don’t drive as the Scottsdale police are everywhere looking to bust people who have been drinking and driving. A couple complaints: Overall the hotel is well-maintained but could use a freshen up. The hot tub located at the main pool really needs to be hotter and the jets barely work. The cabanas are really cool but the fireplaces need some fixing.

Don't be fooled by the check in and entrance's quality, the rooms derive from a verily lightly refurbished motel with stains on the wall and carpet and a loud wall-unit AC. I've had to call on a number of issues, from the Las Vegas/frat house pool area thumping with a very loud bass from 11am-6pm to the a broken fridge. Calls have been met with apathy if not hostility. This is an okay 3 star hotel at best... I question what state it was once in to garner a 4 star standard. The Pros are the beautiful landscaping/ exterior and location. If you're here for a bachelor/bachelorette weekend, this is your spot. Otherwise, I'd keep looking.

We chose the Saguaro after looking at many of hotel venues. We loved the bright color décor. The location was perfectly situated within walking distance to everything you could want. Staff was amazing. John, Josh, Tyler, Felicia and so many more were so professional, polite and helped us make our event exceptional. Thank you to Jen Lewis and Sarah Wilson for making this conference a success.

My friends who were getting married in AZ booked their block of guest rooms here. This hotel is super cute and very similar to their location to their Palm Springs counterpart. It's a great location and you can walk into town since it's right there. The rooms are comfortable and clean. We had a room looking out to the pool. It gets PACKED on weekends (especially with our wedding guests in attendance). Had I not been traveling with a bunch of people and wanted a weekend getaway for piece and quiet at the pool, I wouldn't have chosen this place. It's always packed with people and just a fun and active atmosphere. That's a pro and a con. The lobby restaurant is cute and has some yummy options. Bar and tv available for football.
