Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina greets boats arriving from Tortola with hills of thick vegetation and unspoiled beaches, offering guests the opportunity to either get involved in a host of water-based activities or get lost in their own tropical fantasies. Bamboo fans cool cozy guest rooms outfitted in dark hardwoods and understated Caribbean décor. Villas at the top of the hill grant a crow's nest view of the surrounding islands.

This was our 2nd visit to Scrub Island Resort since July 2024. Our Deluxe 1-BR Suite overlooking the marina was beautiful, comfortable and well maintained by the Housekeeping Staff! Transport service to North Shore Beach and by ferry to and from Trellis Bay was efficient and courteous! Ramona at One Shoe Beach Bar and Junior on the Ferry always provided excellent service with a “Can Do” attitude! This IS a Beautiful place! Sadly though, I have to agree with several other Reviewers who discovered complacent if not lackadaisical attitudes toward guests in the area of hospitality and restaurant/bar service! Apparently hiring is done on a basis of urgency to fill staff positions with hopes of training them afterwards! This IS NOT WORKING!! Also, the multiple extra fees that show up on the final check out statement that are not revealed during the booking process is just wrong. (Daily Resort Fees and Daily Room Service Fees when we never ordered anything from Room Service is hard to understand). Sure, I CAN accept the 20% SVC CHG on all Restaurant charges to be split among the food service staff, but this seems to only serve to facilitate a mediocre attitude among the staff who deal directly with the guests! Not sure what the answer is ~ perhaps bringing in Mel Robbins for a weekend of coaching in the offseason. I’ll probably not be back unless I hear of more JOY in the staff interactions with the guests…”Let them!”

Scrub Island is as pretty as the pictures convey. The food is only adequate and the service is slow, curt and practically non-existent. We would not go back due to lack of any type of hospitality, especially considering the expensive price tag of this resort. Another thing to note, if you book 3rd Party, not only do they add the $60 Resort Fee (which is typical and no problem), they also charge $33 a day for tips! These are tips we made in cash every day ourselves and were not told until after we left. Now we know why the hospitality was so bad - they knew they were getting the money no matter what. Do not recommend.

We stayed at Scrub Island in June 2025. It was the 7-night of a 10-night bareboat charter, so we stayed on the dock. This gave us access to the pools, restaurants, marina store, small grocery store, and even the gym. Shakudo greeted my family of six at the dock. He was a fantastic resource, helping us get the boat safely in place and introducing us to all of the amenities. Of all the dockmasters we've interacted with, he went out of his way to make us feel welcome. This is our third time, over 10 years staying at this facility. They are an oasis in the middle of the trip. This time, we had to get two family members to the airport the following afternoon. A great free shuttle boat from the Scrub Island dock, right over to the airport.

After a lot of discussion with the two other couples trying to decide between Scrub Island and Sugar Mill, we decided on a five-night stay at Scrub Island Resort because of the close proximity to the airport and free water taxi to/from Trellis Bay dock for transport from/to the airport. We are very happy with our decision. We had just thoroughly enjoyed a 7-night catamaran sailing trip with Sail Luna to several islands and adventures. We hope to book through Fabi and Nim in the near future because they were the BEST! If considering such an adventure, BOOK 'EM!! Not sure if we lucked out or some reviewers are too picky, but we had a wonderful experience at the resort. Rooms were clean, appeared updated, and had gorgeous views. The staff were friendly, engaging, and helpful. We have to agree with some comments about the 20% added service charges, including a "Resort Service Charge" and dining/beverage service charges. If going to restaurants, be aware of the "service charge" and that servers will ask if you want water (obviously, yes in most cases) that they bring it in a large bottle and then later charge $8 per bottle. In some cases, this cost our group of 6 nearly $50 extra per meal because we were so thirsty after spending several hours in the sun. Upon check out we asked about the service charge. The employee seemed unaware and surprised. Oh well ... live and learn. The Wednesday night North Beach festivities were fun and food good. On other days, the North Beach was quiet and enjoyable. Check out Marina Cay Restaurant. Fantastic experience. The water taxi service is an added plus, but don't forget to make a reservation even though walk-up customers are accepted. If you are physically able, take the challenging hiking trail from resort to the Big Scrub Island overlook. Breathtaking in more ways than one. There is a YETI water cooler on the overlook for refreshing from the tiring trail. Service at the Outpost Market and Coffee Shop is excellent. The pizza was very GOOD! Thank you for the water taxi from/to airport area. Timely and comfortable, Thank you, Scrub Island!

This is a resort experience you do not want to miss. While on site we visited, the pools, beach area, and dining. Everything was top notch. The real service come into play after leaving the resort. I misplaced a bag in the airport with Scrub hats and shirts etc... I called Scrub and Ms. Candice Bryan not only sent video but confirmed sizes and made sure I had what I needed, service with a smile. This is the BVI resort.
