The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle in Seattle, Washington

When the property now known as The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle debuted in the Roaring Twenties, it marked the arrival of the Pacific Northwest – until then, hotels of that caliber were found east of Chicago. It hosted countless galas, debutante balls and presidential visits – JFK stayed here in 1961 – and, in 1979, joined the ranks of the National Register of Historic Places. Italian Renaissance architecture and Old World style meld into a centrally located Seattle landmark that hosts a AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant and one of the city's oldest oyster bars.

Have a heart-healthy breakfast and traverse Seattle's hills by bike. Cycle the Burke-Gilman trail through the artsy Fremont neighborhood, past Gasworks Park, and alongside spectacular lakefront homes to end at the Chateau Ste. Michelle winery. Sample its signature chardonnay. Back at the hotel, sink into a booth surrounded by original oak paneling and shuck the city’s best seafood.

The Fairmont is a great place to stay if you want to explore downtown Seattle. Hotel is absolutely stunning inside. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Food is on the pricey side.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and had selected it based on location. Beautiful historic hotel, with amazing staff, including Nancy at the Concierge Desk who gave us helpful tips on places to visit and restaurants to eat. Also Rick at the front door Valet parking who was so helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable with lovely amenities. Would highly recommend.

Awesome location! Easy walking distance to most iconic attractions and just one block from light rail (direct access to airport!!). Staff very pleasant! Rooms comfortable. It is a city hotel so expect some traffic noise from the streets. Offers GREAT happy hour in the lobby bar!

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of our trip before flying home. Have stayed in a few Fairmonts and the consistent theme is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. This hotel is stunning and in a great location to explore downtown Seattle. Everything was walkable within a few blocks. we treated ourselves to a small suite which was spotless and very comfortable. If I had any niggle at all it would be the very shallow pool depth which made swimming a challenge but worked for the kids present. This is absolutely a 5 star hotel and would stay with Fairmont again without hesitation.

Location of this iconic Seattle hotel is great. Front desk staff is amazing BUT housekeeping could be improved. Room was already dark and depressing but every time we went out, housekeeping felt it necessary to come in to room and draw all the blinds--even during middle of day--this was not turn down service. They also took it upon themselves to rearrange our personal toiletries which we had off to one side of the vanity, by arranging them how they thought they should be and placed on a towel. Kind of creepy. Lobby is amazing, valet is GREAT but not sure I would stay again. AMAZING architecture, elegant and sophisticated. Once again though room was depressing and dark. Cleanliness was adequate but hair here and there was indicative that housekeeping did not really clean well.
