The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle in Seattle, Washington

When the property now known as The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle debuted in the Roaring Twenties, it marked the arrival of the Pacific Northwest – until then, hotels of that caliber were found east of Chicago. It hosted countless galas, debutante balls and presidential visits – JFK stayed here in 1961 – and, in 1979, joined the ranks of the National Register of Historic Places. Italian Renaissance architecture and Old World style meld into a centrally located Seattle landmark that hosts a AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant and one of the city's oldest oyster bars.

Have a heart-healthy breakfast and traverse Seattle's hills by bike. Cycle the Burke-Gilman trail through the artsy Fremont neighborhood, past Gasworks Park, and alongside spectacular lakefront homes to end at the Chateau Ste. Michelle winery. Sample its signature chardonnay. Back at the hotel, sink into a booth surrounded by original oak paneling and shuck the city’s best seafood.

I stayed there for three nights for my godmother's 90th birthday. The hotel is beutiful inside and out. The room I had was clean, roomy, and well kept. The decors and its motiff are beautiful and well organized. The food are very good. I love their indoor pool.

They spoiled us completely. They provided the requirements I asked for in terms of an allergy free suite with ample space for us to enjoy our 4 day weekend. The room was huge an the service was top notch. The location was perfect. Their gym is great and a heated pool and jacuzzi kept us relaxed everyday.

We had a 3 night stay this January at the Fairmont in Seattle. It's a beautiful hotel that I felt a little out of place in, as most other visitors were a lot older and more well off than I looked! I was blown away by the interior of the reception, dining and function rooms, so definitely a 5 star building. We were put on the 10th floor and our room was lovely. Really nice size and cleaned regularly. Our one small complaint with one set of cleaners was that they moved our bags and dirty laundry - this may not bother other people, but I'd left my suitcase open with the sections unzipped, with dirty laundry in a small pile next to it for me to deal with. When we returned one day the cleaning staff had put our laundry onto laundry bags (off the carpet) and also closed the cases and put them on luggage racks. This isn't the end of the world, but it meant everything in my case got thrown around as I'd left it unzipped. We also thought it was kind of odd that staff came into the room in the evening, as we'd gone out for the afternoon, came back about 6pm, to find that the blinds had been shut and the cushions on the bed put away. In general however, the room was very clean and tidy, the bathroom was great with a huge shower, and I found the bed to be very comfortable. I would also add points as the bedside tables had outlets and USB ports in them - so no searching for an outlet behind the furniture here. I was a little disappointed in the wifi - I'm from the UK and so was reliant on wifi to look things up and connect with home, but at 10 floors up we were too high to get the 24 hour free lobby wifi, and room wifi was $16+ a day, which seems a lot when you're in a 5 star hotel. Since we spent a lot of time out in the city this wasn't the worst thing, but it meant relying on my partner a lot for tethering and racking up his data usage when in the room. We had breakfast on our last morning and this was very nice, if a little overpriced. The staff were all attentive though and it was cooked very well. The doorman (who we saw a lot as we went in and out) was very nice, just as a little call out! I do wish we'd stayed long enough/left some time to visit the pool and leisure facilities, but unfortunately we didn't get a chance. I would recommend staying here, definitely, wifi is the only thing I would be considerate of in case you were expecting it to be free in-room as I was.

We enjoyed 2 wonderful nights and thoroughly enjoyed our room and the bed. The most comfortable bed ever! The updated decor is just perfect for a calm retreat from the fun movement of downtown activities. Very goof location!

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Fairmont Olympic and could not have been more pleased. As the other reviews have stated this is a majestic hotel (the original home of UW) the lobby area is massive and the architecture of the building is jaw dropping. The main reason for our stay here was the very reasonable price I found on Expedia. I had assumed that we would have to Uber or use public transportation to get to the Seattle sights. I could not have been more wrong. This hotel truly is in the center of it all. Walkable to the Public Market, the City Center (where all the shopping is) the Seattle Art Museum, and Pioneer Square. The water front area is a longer walk but you could do it. The only touristy attraction that you would need transportation to is the Space Needle. But right above the Zara store in the City Center you can catch the monorail which whisks you in fast speed directly to the base of the Space Needle at a cost of $2.50 per person. Definitely take advantage of that convenience! As far as the room at the Fairmont we were on the 10th floor in one of the renovated king rooms. While the room is not huge it was perfect for us, there is so much sight seeing to do in Seattle we really did not spend a lot of time in the room. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a restaurant in the hotel that you need to make sure to make reservations for while you are there - Shuckers. We ate a lot of sea food during our stay and Shuckers had the best! It was so fresh and the wait staff was amazing! I know you will have many choices when you visit Seattle for seafood but on a rainy day when you want to stay in and eat a delicious meal, you CAN, at Shuckers! They have a happy hour Monday through Friday with reduced prices on oysters and drinks. ( try the Bees Knees it tastes like a lemon drop martini) We are from Nebraska so we don't have a lot of opportunities to be exposed to all that a city like Seattle offers. We felt so welcomed and catered to at the Fairmont, and if that welcoming feeling wasn't enough, this hotel nails it by being in the middle of the Emerald City! Fairmont Olympic you are a gem! Thank you!
