Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa in Sedona, Arizona

With the mystical rust-red rocks as a backdrop, elegant Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is at home in a contemporary adobe-style building. Completely devoid of kitschy clichés, interiors of this intimate boutique hotel pick up on the modern aspects of Southwestern design meshing it with traditional Moorish flair. A mod burbling fountain anchors the lobby while the courtyard is covered in green desert-hardy plants - an inviting pool at its center. The 72 guest rooms and suites are sleekly furnished following along the lines of the Spanish-Moroccan theme sporting splashes of eye-catching dark reds with luxurious bedding and private patios or balconies. Among the standard plush amenities are flat-screen televisions, complimentary wireless Internet, a petite fridge, and gourmet coffee service. The spacious bathrooms are kitted out with super soft cotton towels, large walk-in rain showers and dual showerheads.

Catch some rays while lingering in one of the chaises lining the deck around the heated pool and Jacuzzi. Looking to stay active? Join the al fresco chakra yoga class in the mornings. Or indulge in a visit to the resort's sizable spa where the earthy color palette mirrors Sedona's natural surroundings. The cutting edge wellness center features a Tranquility Room, steam rooms, and, in light of Sedona's famed vortex sites, intuitive services such as Tarot readings and spiritual acupuncture. Expert therapists administer detoxifying herbal wraps, invigorating scrubs or healing massages like myofascial bodywork and Hawaiian-inspired Lomi-Lomi. On balmy nights savor panoramic canyon views from around the fire pit on the hotel's rooftop terrace. Get there early to glimpse the dramatic color spectacle at sunset. Later, arrange for a table in the bamboo garden area at locally popular on-site REDS Restaurant & Bar where Executive Chef Ron Moler prepares upscale comfort food hailing from his native Tucson. Tuck into braised pork Kahrabi ribs with Burgundy fig risotto or butternut squash ravioli to the subdued sounds of live music on select evenings. Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa defies the stereotypical rules of style for luxe desert dwelling like a trendsetting breath of fresh air with a comprehensive list of amenities to boot.

To begin with, we absolutely loved the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa, so the following comments are not directed at the resort itself; rather at the "Hotels" website that we booked through. We booked our "Hotel" through a website that specializes in "Hotels", but I won't name which "Hotels" website we used, as there are many of them. We liked the price we were quoted by this unnamed "Hotels" website. We paid in full, in advance. However, upon arrival and check-in at the Sedona Rouge Hotel, we were charged with a $22 per day "resort fee". We were told that this fee applies because we booked through a 3rd party "Hotels" booking site. Had we booked directly with the Sedona Rouge, we would have been given the true cost of staying there. So in essence, the price we were quoted by the "Hotels" website was low because they subtract certain costs they know you'll pay upon arrival, but they can claim they're not responsible for. I smell a rat!!! Okay, all of that being said, we positively loved the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa. From its location and plentiful parking, to simple check-in, beautiful atrium lobby, cleanliness of the room, overall layout of the resort, Reds Restaurant, the Spa, the views from the garden and fire pit area; basically everything was perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The overall atmosphere is very serene and relaxing. Having a first class full service spa on site and an excellent restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner at very reasonable prices, the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa had everything we needed for a perfect vacation trip. We took full advantage of both the spa and the restaurant. At the spa, my wife chose to get a West Wildflower Facial and I chose the Swedish Massage. At the restaurant, we at breakfast twice, lunch once, and dinner twice. (See my separate reviews for the Sedona Rouge Spa and Reds Restaurant individually.) Sedona is an absolutely breathtaking location. The Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa is the absolute place to stay in Sedona.

This is an independent hotel in the center of town. The staff was polite and helpful. Thanks to Raul, Mario and others. The TV signal was out for a day and the staff removed resort fee at our request without much hassle. The restaurant, especially, served very good quality food at reasonable prices. Again the server staff in the restaurant was just as polite. We were upgraded to a suite on our second night. The upgrade came with out American Express Platinum card.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. But the part that made me want to write a review was the staff at the reception desk. They helped us countless times above and beyond what was required of them. WE made a mistake booking our hotel, but they figured out a way to help us and accommodate us. WE had issues with our rental car and again they helped us even when they didn't have too. WE accidentally left a VERY expensive necklace behind at checkout. They actually called us and let us know so we could drive back and get it. We really appreciated their customer service and would definitely recommend them.

From the outside this hotel looks like a strip mall, but don't be deceived. The rooms were large and gorgeous. We stayed in one of the rooms that hadn't been updated, and it was still gorgeous. Vaulted ceilings, very nice views of the red rocks, and the spa was awesome. I had an amazing massage. The pools and hot tub were also really nice with great views. Definitely one of the best places to stay in Sedona for the price. It is also close to all of the attractions and shopping. Definitely recommend!

This was a weekend trip with friends. The hotel was a good locations. Restaurants & grocery store within walking distance. The grounds were pretty and well kept. Nice outdoor pool area with drink & food service Onsite restaurant has a good breakfast and free coffee. The room was kind of small. But the bathroom very spacious and a small outdoor balcony. The biggest surprise to me was the lack of knowledge of the staff about much of anything in the area. They didn’t know what time shops opened on Sundays or what time the parks opened and the cost to enter. Seems like the “touristy” information would be common knowledge to those in the hotel industry. Most questions we had about the area, staff didn’t know.
