The Wilde Resort and Spa

First, please allow to introduce myself so you might be able to better apply my subjection to your personal search! I am 55 years ‘young’, and have a very high standard for accommodations and restaurants (compared to most). In fact, my best girlfriend from childhood –who I met up with for this 2night/3day girl- hiking adventure— says I am quite critical with expectations. But it doesn’t mean I’m wrong to be so, just keep in mind that you’re probably not any pickier! I’m giving the WILDE 5/5 bc of the exceptionally friendly + accommodating staff, the ease of checking and check out, our wonderfully clean and terrifically QUIET room, and the over all value, aka “bang for the buck”! ❤️ 😁 ♥️ ⭐️ The caveat: both my girlfriend and I are fairly conservative, so the more-than-subtle ‘new age’ value-system being promoted (and even requiring of us to “navigate” at times) was initially a reactionary put-off with which one is required to not to let interfere with an otherwise terrific property 👍 More than that at the moment, but first the awesome aspects— awesome enough that I fully plan on returning w/my husband😎 Upon my arrival, a woman named Robin was extraordinarily friendly and informative – I called ahead to ask if a microwave could be provided in the room and they had it waiting for us when I arrived 45 minutes later! * Apparently, some rooms are not equipped with them so ask in advance* My friend drove from Phoenix and I from St. George Utah so after my nearly 6h drive I was delighted to open the door finding a fresh, cool, and very clean room offering a serene view from the sliding doors. (My gal pal was equally delighted!) I should explain that at this time the reason you won’t find photos of the fact that matter of our hikes is bc there was nothing wrong anywhere on site (I wasn’t thinking about posting photos for a review), -and historically I’ve taken photos only if something is wrong for documentation purposes. Instead, the WILDE was a personalized sanctuary for us to rest and prepare for the challenging hikes that we had traveled to Sedona to embark upon – proof-positive that we were exceptionally pleased with our choice to stay here; not a moment was wasted on extenuating concerns! The beds were very comfortable, the pillows and sheets so crisp and Refreshing… truly the cleanest accommodations I’ve stayed in many years. It even rivals the 5-star hotel my husband and I stayed in earlier this year in downtown Washington DC’s Dupont Circle neighborhood (-and at $350-$500 a night!)! The property has many Beautiful ‘gas fire pits’ Plus, there’s a nice hotel enough bar at the pool . As hotel pools go, it was a bit small. But it is saltwater, and it was quiet enough during the 2 hrs we spent poolside (other than the bar’s sound system which I could’ve done without). I had injured my knee a week earlier and needed to continually ice it before, and after every hike. The lobby staff was marvelous and accommodating, taking my ice packs in and out several times a day to accommodate this. If you have medication that needs to be in a freezer or an ice pack like what I’m describing, this is your ticket to make that happen. They were very kind about it. The Restaurant: the crème brûlée was so terrific that my girlfriend and I had it both nights! The one dinner we ate there shot us both with the very high resort town dinner price tags. She did like her salmon, my ribeye steak was the worst I’ve had in my life. That’s not an exaggeration, and the $64 price tag attached to the ribeye was nothing short of robbery. The only reason it’s not impacting the 5/5 review is that the tonight package we booked provided a $50 credit each night which was applied to restaurant charges. Had the food been exceptional and/or the portions aligned with the price tag, we may have eaten there more, but neither was the case. Furthermore, although everyone on the hotel staff deserves accolades (Mr. Donald from New Zealand at checkout was amazing!), I suppose I don’t mind stating that I would not include the restaurant staff in the same category of exceptional customer service as the hotel staff. Our waitress was friendly enough, but a bit neglectful in attending to us during dinner, and on the second night when we decided to order a crème brûlée “To go” — wanting to sit just outside the restaurant at a fire pit adjacent to restaurant’s outdoor seating — they removed the crème brûlée from the ceramic ramekin it had been chilled in and sugar topping torched Firmly already, placing it in a plastic box! Well, if you are crème brûlée person, you would never eat the crème brûlée outside of the ceramic , Bud in a plastic container – it looks ridiculous and half the fun is the presentation with this particular dessert (Even my girlfriend agreed with me on this)… When I said that it simply must be in this original container, the manager looked shocked and certainly irked with my request to have our crème brûlée ‘properly’ . Then a concern was stated about how far I was going to go with they ceramic ramekin — Something I’ve never been asked at all my hotel experiences around the world. Restaurants that you take the food to your room if you like, never mind, then the silverware or the ceramic plates. So definitely not in love with the Restaurant – which is named Rascal fyi. The only other negative - which is barely with mentioning as it is on a very personal level—, is their new age mantra clearly adapted in all facets on site. When we selected the property, we were excited about that a spa was offered as part of the WILDE resort. However, when we browsed to shop and book some services — as a Massage or Facial, — their offerings were so deeply new age in their descriptions that we didn’t want anyone to touch us …or our “chakras”…or “cleanse our energies,” etc., bc we don’t believe in that narrative. Further, a crystal -along w/ a description about the power of said crystal— had been placed in our room - albeit as a well-intended souvenir, but both of us literally rolled our eyes happening upon it as we’d rather not have had someone else's “faith” about such things forced into our sanctuary experience. We actually threw it out of our room and into the garbage. This probably seems extreme to most of you -especially if you are ‘all-in’ about the crystals and the new age, etc. —but consider if you were to say someplace Equivalent, but found a Bible, a Quran, Torah, or other things of that nature like a crucifix. Cross of David (or you fill in the blank—) you may [or may not?] feel a little interrupted in your desire to have a safe space of relaxation. Still- The WILDE Resort & Spa was wonderfully positioned in Sedona for us to venture out all kinds of hikes, easy, moderate difficult and strenuous. Because of the staff and how clean and peaceful the property was, I will definitely be returning. I’d like to see them, expand their spa offerings, and tone down the new age jive. I’d also like to see their gift shop be truly expanded to include clothing and accessories with the WILDE Resort’s logo available for sale. I had no expectations of the workshop before two desk attendants Separately raved to me about how great the gift shop was at the spa. It was not terrific on any level – lots of crystals and “energy” + skincare products for sale, but other than some bathrobes there wasn’t any clothing. Still – what a marvelous 2 1/2 days!!!

The Wilde Resort and Spa was a wonderful place to stay in Sedona, AZ. The staff was amazing! Cruz, at the front desk, was extremely helpful with our checkin. The housekeeping staff was attentive to any requests we had and promptly delivered them. We stayed in a room in the Grove. The balcony provided a beautiful view of the mountains. The landscaping at the resort is stunning. We will definitely return to this resort in the future. .

Our experience was outstanding! The property is well maintained and has so much to offer. The spa is clean and sauna is hot! A dog friendly hotel is important to us. Our girl received a welcome amenity! The grounds are excellent for walking her. Cruz at the front desk has excellent customer service skills. He accommodated our specific requests to help us extend our stay. We travel a lot and Cruz’s enthusiasm will be remembered. The fire pits at night are so relaxing. This property is in the heart of the town. So, restaurants are in walking distance and trail heads are close. We will make this property our go to hotel for future trips to Sedona. Thank you to all at the front desk, Rascal’s Restaurant and at the spa for helping make our break from reality a true vacation!

The room was exactly as pictured from booking, the bed was so comfortable, the view was spectacular... Rascal had high quality food... the customer service everywhere was phenomenal... we can't wait to go back!

I must admit when we pulled into the hotel parking lot I was disappointed that it was right off a busy street. My disappointment ended the minute we entered the hotel grounds. It is a quiet oasis. The grounds are lovely with lots of grass and gardens, a beautiful hot tub and also a pool and hot tub in a different area, corn hole and hammocks. Our room had a garden view from a nice little patio. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable! Also the location was excellent and was close to hiking and the town. We had a great weekend!
