I enjoyed my stay at this lovely hotel, for many reasons I'll describe in a moment. But I'm going to start with my negative experience at check-in, because it annoyed me. The young manager at the desk lost his mind when I refused to give him my cell number. He tried to insist that he had to collect my cell phone number, in case of 'damages' to the room (how insulting; I guess even though I was travel-weary at check-in, I looked ready to throw a blow-out party). When I pushed back on that, he said he had to have it in case of 'issues' (his word) with my credit card or billing (even more insulting than being mistaken for a person who might destroy my room). At that point there was no way in hell he was getting that number, when the hotel already had a home phone number and email address for me. Being told no repeatedly seemed to be a new experience for this manager; he had no idea how to move on with grace. It was pretty awful. Mostly for him. That aside, the property is beautiful, and that manager was not representative of the helpful and friendly staff overall. The property a little removed from the Sedona tourist area, which is a good thing; there's a Magic Trolley stop there, for those who want to get out and do stuff. There are lovely water features on the property, and fire pits out back with seats giving a view of the red rocks behind the hotel. The place was quiet, the room I was in newly remodeled, and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was AMAZING - huge, and with two separate counters, each with their own sinks. The towels are actually the softest I've ever encountered in a hotel. The room also had a shared balcony, which looked out onto the red rocks, and over the fire pits. We ate in the hotel restaurant twice, and the food for dinner and breakfast was completely delicious. The spa is also a gorgeous space, peaceful and with great employees and amenities; they clearly want their guests to leave happy, and I did. There's a lot to recommend this place; it was a pleasant stay. But it'd be good if their managers wouldn't attempt to bully customers with incredibly dumb demands; happy customers are better for return business than a database full of cell numbers.

This hotel is right on a busy road, which you can hear from inside the rooms. The room decor/furnishing is a bit dated. There were a number of maintenance issues that I felt housekeeping should have seen and not let go unaddressed, including moldy shower grout, the bathroom sink not draining, and the world's loudest fan that came on automatically with the bathroom light. Even with these problems, I probably would have rated this hotel higher, except for something that happened with the gas fireplace in the room. After having the fireplace on for a few hours one night, the carbon monoxide detector started ringing. We had to open the balcony doors to air out the room. Safety trumps all else, and I just didn't feel overly comfortable in the room after that. I was glad to check out the next morning. On the plus side: The mini fridge actually got cold The bed was comfortable The free appetizer in the restaurant every night was a nice touch, although service was uneven -- one night we were served very promptly and the next, completely ignored

I was a speaker at a recent TEDx event in Sedona. The organizers of the event suggested Sedona Rouge.I had many special requests and every person I encountered was very professional and cheerful. "Management" has done a great job in creating this very positive atmosphere! My room was on the third floor, looking out to the beautiful Red Rocks of Sedona. What a treat! I hope to return someday soon.

We stayed at the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer! Because there are so few negatives, I'll start there- the outdoor pool area is very small and nothing special. We hoped for a full spa experience but the steam room was under repair. That's it. Now let me tell you why you SHOULD stay here! The rooms are huge and come with a gas fireplace! We're from South Florida so this was a treat for us! Yes, there is a fridge and safe, SUPER soft bathrobes, great wifi, and extremely comfortable bed and pillows. It was hard for me to get out of the bathroom because the walk in glass shower stall was extremely spacious and had both an overhead rain shower and a wall showerhead with excellent water pressure! Large make-up mirror provided along with ample number of towels. Do yourself a favor and get a treatment at the spa- if you like massages, request Bobbie. She is excellent at deep tissue. The staff are all so welcoming and accommodating. Cozy up to your honey and enjoy the beautiful sunset on the rooftop which comes with fire pits and comfortable seating! The hotel is well kept and close to the downtown area. Don't miss out on the fabulous food at Reds, their on site restaurant !! You will not be sorry if you choose to stay at this hotel and neither were we!

To begin with, we absolutely loved the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa, so the following comments are not directed at the resort itself; rather at the "Hotels" website that we booked through. We booked our "Hotel" through a website that specializes in "Hotels", but I won't name which "Hotels" website we used, as there are many of them. We liked the price we were quoted by this unnamed "Hotels" website. We paid in full, in advance. However, upon arrival and check-in at the Sedona Rouge Hotel, we were charged with a $22 per day "resort fee". We were told that this fee applies because we booked through a 3rd party "Hotels" booking site. Had we booked directly with the Sedona Rouge, we would have been given the true cost of staying there. So in essence, the price we were quoted by the "Hotels" website was low because they subtract certain costs they know you'll pay upon arrival, but they can claim they're not responsible for. I smell a rat!!! Okay, all of that being said, we positively loved the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa. From its location and plentiful parking, to simple check-in, beautiful atrium lobby, cleanliness of the room, overall layout of the resort, Reds Restaurant, the Spa, the views from the garden and fire pit area; basically everything was perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The overall atmosphere is very serene and relaxing. Having a first class full service spa on site and an excellent restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner at very reasonable prices, the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa had everything we needed for a perfect vacation trip. We took full advantage of both the spa and the restaurant. At the spa, my wife chose to get a West Wildflower Facial and I chose the Swedish Massage. At the restaurant, we at breakfast twice, lunch once, and dinner twice. (See my separate reviews for the Sedona Rouge Spa and Reds Restaurant individually.) Sedona is an absolutely breathtaking location. The Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa is the absolute place to stay in Sedona.
