They Didn’t Keep Their Promise For refund of unused one night

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

Very disappointing experience — poor handling of an agreed refund I booked a stay at Hotel Colón Gran Meliá in August for two nights, from August 15 to August 17. Unfortunately, due to an urgent family situation, I had to shorten my stay and requested to change the reservation to one night, from August 15 to August 16. I fully understood that the booking was originally non-refundable. However, given the exceptional and urgent family circumstances, I contacted the hotel and explained the situation. The hotel initially agreed to the change and to refund the unused night, and I was specifically told to contact Agoda so that Agoda could send the hotel an email to process the refund. I contacted Agoda as instructed, and Agoda sent the requested email to the hotel. Unfortunately, the refund was never processed. Every time I followed up with Agoda, I was simply told that the hotel had not responded. This was extremely frustrating because the hotel had already indicated that they were willing to accommodate the change and refund the unused night. What made the experience particularly disappointing was the lack of follow-through. The front desk was aware of the situation and the reservation team had reportedly been informed, yet ultimately nothing was done to honor what had initially been agreed. I appreciate that policies exist, but when a hotel makes an exception because of an urgent family situation and then fails to follow through, it leaves a very negative impression. Agoda’s handling of the matter was also not helpful, as I was repeatedly sent back to the hotel without a meaningful resolution. Unfortunately, despite the hotel’s reputation and the fact that I had expected a much higher level of service, this experience left me feeling very disappointed and poorly treated during an already difficult family situation. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves communication between the front desk, reservations team, and booking platforms so that agreed arrangements are actually honored.

Connect Family friendly rooms.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed in the connecting family suite, which was the main reason we booked this hotel, along with its wonderful location. The suite was a great setup for our family, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They even brought a special treat for my children when we arrived, which was such a thoughtful touch. Because this is an older hotel, the rooms are quite dark, which may not appeal to everyone. We also had young adults staying across the hall from us who repeatedly slammed their doors throughout the night, which kept me awake for much of the night. The hotel should consider installing something to make the doors close more softly and quietly. The rooftop pool was a wonderful perk and a beautiful feature of the hotel, although it wasn't especially well suited for my kids. Overall, we really appreciated the location, family suite, comfortable beds, and especially the friendly staff.

Fabulous Hotel and Staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed at the hotel last weekend for 3 nights on my first but certainly not last visit to Seville. I can't recommend this hotel enough to anyone contemplating going. The staff were so welcoming and kind and went out of their way to make sure i stay was perfect. It was my Girlfriend's birthday the day before we flew and as a surprise the hotel kindly delivered to our room a bottle of champagne and a cake free of charge. The hotel was spotless as was our room. We will certainly be returning and have already recommended the hotel to friends and family. Thank you once again to all that made our stay special.

Can improve on service and breakfast was horrible!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The room at Hotel Colón Gran Meliá was beautiful, comfortable, and exactly what we expected from a hotel of this caliber. Unfortunately, the service did not live up to the same standard. On two separate mornings, we were not properly attended to at breakfast. Despite breakfast being included with our room, the service was so disappointing that we ultimately chose to leave the hotel and have breakfast elsewhere. Our arrival experience was also disappointing. During check-in, we felt there was an excessive focus on upselling us throughout the registration process. Once we declined the room upgrade, the warmth and attentiveness seemed to disappear, which made us feel less valued as guests. For a luxury five-star property, I expected a much higher level of hospitality, especially when it comes to making guests feel welcomed and cared for. The room was wonderful, but unfortunately, the overall service experience fell well below our expectations.

Little Concern for Guest Health

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

At this hotel making $$ is more important than the health of the guests. Water was dripping from the ceiling in our room so I put a towel on the floor. When we came back the towel was gone but during the night water started dripping again so I pushed the ceiling panel aside to see what was going on. The towel had been put on top (now soaking wet) of the ceiling panels. Attached pictures show what I found. For the amount you pay they don't bother changing/maintaining the air filters. The filer was so plugged that air has bee bypassing the filter for months which means all the fans and of the ducting was full of ??? When we went out in the morning I left both the ceiling panel and the dirty air filter off. When we came back to the room both the ceiling panel and the dirty air filter had been put back in place. For 3 days after this my throat felt like I was getting a cold. They tried to tell me it was an issue staff wasn't aware of which is impossible. 1). there had been multiple attempts to repair the leaking pipe 2.) It takes 2 minutes to replaced the filter but management has to allow it.
