We were so impressed by this resort. The hotel's team was unfailingly polite, generous, and helpful. The setting is simply sensational. The choice of restaurants is extraordinary. All that the resort offers, from the spa to the swimming pool to the phenomenal service, is wonderful. We had two problems - the room in which we were staying had extremely poor internet and, much as we loved the main restaurant, we were sad not to have the option to have fresh green salad on a regular basis. The breakfast is terrific - no need for lunch. We are eager to return. You will not be disappointed.

Pretentious and overpriced. Stunning location

Our standard room was just that. Lots of noise from tiled floors, thin walls. You could hear every neighbour and every one walking in the corridor. Bathroom was just adequate. Not even tissues supplied. Free minibar was 2 small beers and sugary soft drinks only. No wine, no spirits. Cheapest glass of wine was €15, 2 or 3 times the amount paid elsewhere on the island. So many staff they watch your every move yet it took 10 minutes to bring coffee at breakfast. Pools were good, location is superb. We weren't given any info about the spa, or the layout or facilities or excursions. We had to ask every thing. We would return to the island but not to Therasia. Difficult to identify why but it didn't feel 5*. Felt like a old hotel that has tried to come upmarket but just misses. Has potential to be glorious

Glorious location with unrivalled service

We saw the amazing sunset! Absolutely amazing location, right at the northern tip of Vulcano, looking out over Lipari over the narrow straight. The location is very peaceful and romantic. Guests are a bit of a captive audience: the two Michelin-starred restaurants are impressive but not cheap and we got the impression that there was nothing else on the island (in contrast to Lipari - no obviously nice hotels but a stunning small town/harbour with lots of food options). The service here was superb and there were four standout people: Maria, the American-Italian front of house person full of useful info and local experience: Lillo, the tireless Bar manager: Ciro, the fantastically helpful shuttle driver into the town/ferry terminus and Michaela, the lovely and incredibly hard-working member of the restaurant team. They made it feel as if we were part of a big family. Thank you.

I’d rather keep it a secret, but that would not be fair. EXTRAORDINARY!

Therasia was a gem and we decided to stay on the Isola Vulcano for our 30th anniversary. Having never been to Sicily before, we did not know what to expect. From our warm and special welcome experience to our needs and desires for the week, the staff was beyond attentive. Full day stays on the island were magical. From luscious breakfasts to picturesque sunsets - simply breathtaking. Day excursions were delightful, but we found ourselves wanting to be back at the property. The Michelin Star restaurants and chefs earned those stars. We swam in the pools and easily made our way to the ocean each day . Maria at the spa made certain that we were delighted beyond belief. Our only disappointment was actually having to check out! Sicily is beautiful, The Aeolian Islands are remarkable, and Therasia Resort and Spa is the diamond within the volcanic rough! Do yourself a favor and go, stay and truly enjoy each and every moment and be sure and buy yourself a little something at Acitavoli - a ceramic studio and jewelry shop. Gino & Robinsue

We just finished a 6-day stay at the Therasia Resort on Vulcano, one of the Aeolian Islands. The hotel was absolutely wonderful. From start to finish we were taken care of and pampered by Nancy and the rest of the super friendly hotel staff. The location was stunning. We thought we died and went to heaven and landed in paradise. Wherever you looked there were the steep cliffs, crystal clear water and the blue sea. We had a wonderful stay and vowed to come back next year.
