My husband and I spent five nights in this lovely, tranquil boutique hotel located a 5-10 minute tuktuk or cab ride from Siem Reap's bustling downtown. Our garden room was a welcome, quiet oasis; it was spacious, spotless and beautifully appointed, with high quality linens and towels and a comfortable oversized king bed. We received a very warm welcome from all of the staff, who were well-trained and attentive. Breakfast at the hotel was varied and delicious, with plenty of choices including fresh juices and fruits, and proper coffee. The concierge, who was very easy to work with, arranged our daily outings prior to our arrival . The planning for all of it was perfect, and the itinerary was in the "correct order", which we would not have known had we done the planning ourselves. Our first evening at the hotel, we enjoyed a delicious five-course dinner with wines in the courtyard, and an apsara performance that was absolutely delightful. The instruments and music were fascinating, and the dancers performed a series of themed folk dances in resplendent costumes. Ahead of time, we thought the performance might be corny or amateurish, but it absolutely was not; it was mesmerizing, professional and charming, and a delightful introduction to Khmer culture. For dinner off-site, we highly recommend Kroya. Our guide for all of our tours, Santhou, was extremely knowledgeable and thoughtful, patiently answering our many questions, and Sophal was an attentive and careful driver. We spent three days touring the Angkor complex (including sunrise at Angkor Wat, which we highly recommend), a day hiking Kulen Mountain, and a day touring Kompong Phluk and Tonle Sap, all of which were fascinating. Santhou provided great perspective on ancient and modern-day Cambodia, and we made a number of fascinating side stops on our tours (local markets, roadside stands, a silk-weaving boutique "factory", among others) that gave us a better understanding of the country and its people, who were extremely welcoming and kind. We enjoyed cooling off in the lovely pool after each day of touring, and I even managed to wedge in a few hours of spa treatments (facial, massage, pedicure) from a wonderful, competent technician, who was lovely and sweet. A big thank you to all of the staff at this delightful hotel, who ensured that our stay met and exceeded our expectations. We HIGHLY recommend Anantara Angkor!

Fantastic hotel with amazing service. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff were the best that we have come across anywhere in the world. From restaurant recommendations & bookings to ordering a tuk tuk, nothing was a problem. The spa massages were brilliant. Just what we needed. The restaurant food is first class & such a friendly chef who came to chat with us after our meal. A+++++ all around. Thank you. Darren & Katie

I cannot write enough positive things about our short but impressive visit to Anantara. We ended up regretting that we only planned for 24 hours in Siem Reap, but we will absolutely return (to the city, as well as the hotel). We live in Switzerland where hotels are known for a high level of hospitality, and this hotel experience was on par with anything we have experienced in Switzerland. The staff are the friendliest and most gracious that I have ever encountered. The welcome we received put such smiles on our faces, and the smiles continued once we were shown to our rooms. The small foot pool outside our balcony doors was a true hit with our 9 year old son. The room had every amenity that we needed, was very clean, comfortable beds, and very spacious for our family of 3. The grounds of the hotel feel like an oasis. The pool is lovely and peaceful, though my son was disappointed that no "pool play" is allowed, but this is a definite plus for those who are seeking to relax next to the pool. The restaurant had every western comfort you could want, although I wouldn't mind seeing more options for local cuisine. Although we were only there for 24 hours to see Angkor Wat, the staff arranged a wonderful private tour guide for us on short notice. The staff and the hotel played a big role in helping us fall in love with Cambodia and making us determined to return for a longer visit.
