Belmond La Residence d'Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia

A stone’s throw from the empire’s legendary ancient temples, this luxurious modern retreat exemplifies traditional Khmer architecture. Here, tranquil gardens – including a pond dotted with floating lotus blossoms - provide a lush backdrop to a pool and spa on the banks of the Siem Reap River. Nearby, open-air markets attract locals and visitors fascinated by the rich colors, textiles, flavors and scents. This is a thriving town with rich heritage.

Before dawn take a tuk tuk ride through Siem Reap to the legendary ancient temple of Angkor Wat. Watch the sun rise in the orange sky over the roofline’s iconic silhouette and tour the rambling ruins – but beware of curious monkeys. Continue your ride past dramatic, centuries-old tropical trees to Angkor Thom nearby. Ride to the historic Foreign Correspondents’ Club for a French-Vietnamese lunch, and tour the Psa Leu markets to pick up silks and spices. Dine on Executive Chef Saul Garcia Ramos’ world cuisine with a Khmer twist at the hotel’s restaurant Circle.

What a place ....such a beautiful hotel! We stayed 2 nights and wished we had more time here! The hotel is amazing from the friendly staff who greeted us with cold towels upon each return to the well appointed rooms, wonderful breakfast buffet, and lovely grounds! Only disappointment...after returning from a hot day at Angkor Wat, our room air conditioning had been turned up so the room was a bit warm! ....... we can not fault them on anything else ...If you can, stay an extra night to have time to enjoy the beautiful pool The rooms were incredible, and the pool a welcome relief from the tropical heat. The Food in both restaurants was amazing so where the little tidbits they pass around the pool for free ....... the Guest Cocktail we where invited to to was amazing,we met everyone and had so many suggesstions on what to do and where to eat ...... amazing. We loved being greeted at the door with a damp cloth after a long day hiking around the temples! The staff was exceedingly helpful, and the cocktail lounge provided an excellent place to relax and connect to wifi between checkout and departure.

My partner and I spent four days at La Residence and would go back in a heartbeat. This hotel has everything you could need and an array of small details to make your stay memorable. From hats and fans by the pool to pool snacks and cold towels every time you enter the hotel. It really was paradise. The hotel staff provide a wonderful family vibe that made it hard to leave. While there we had two cycling tours booked for us through the hotel which were amazing and highly recommended. The hotel feels like a secluded paradise but is still walking distance to Siem Reap centre. We could not recommend this hotel enough and will definitely be going back there.

We arrived in Cambodia after nearly 2 weeks in Vietnam and wanted a combination of RnR with sightseeing (4 days). The Belmond didn't disappoint. Well located for a 10 minute stroll down to the Pub street area and a range of higher quality restaurants eg Chanery Tree, along the river just a US$2 trip by Tuk Tuk. The breakfast options are comprehensive but I did wonder about some of the items being left in the sun. The Al Carte restaurant is a little short of Cambodian cuisne in my opinion but as noted, this is very available nearby. The buffet does have a wide range of Cambodian food options and presented reasonable value for money. We had a room on the ground floor by the pool so had the added benefit of a secluded courtyard and our own day beds.....perfect for our RNR needs but not necessary if you are only here for a few days including the 5 am Angkor Wat trips and other fabulous temples. Rooms have multi plug adapters and the bathroom soaps/shampoos etc are wonderful. Where this property excels is the level of service from the staff which is excellent.Staff around the pool and restaurant were attentive without being obvious. The manager Thomas, seems to have created a friendly atmosphere. We found his advice and information invaluable.

Another delightful stay at this fantastic place, returned after 2 years, they just had a renovation and the new rooms are stunning. The pool is still the best in Siem Reap and with the new touches they have introduced like the cocnut cart, complimentary ice cream as well as the comfort basket with water and sun screen,or cold towels is just great. The new Food and Beverage concept offers a great variety between local food hawkwer style and the great mexican asian restaurant are just heaven. The staff is so warm and welcoming and took great care of us and our 6 year old,no request seems to much and whenever we came back from our tours cold towels and welcome drinks where available. We had a room on the groundfloor directly by the pool, set up every day with local straw hats and bamboo fans the little garden is a true delight to rest and relax. The room spacious with light colors and local fabrics, fantastic matresses with a memory foam cover and the spectacular open bathroom want you to stay forever.... stunning turn down goodies changed every night. We attended the Generals Manager Cocktail that they invite all their guests to twice a week and met the delightful Management Team lead by Thomas the GM,Saul the Chef,Oscar and Elisabeth and Bunrong the Housekeeper, Velra and Jasmin and Long, they all shared their stories with us and we had a most enjoyable evening. The location is great as it is just 5 min walkk from the old market, but still located in a quiet corner to be able to chill and relax when coming back from our daily activities. Do try the complimentary lotus folding class they offer in the morning,so relaxing We can only recommend this Hotel and will definatly be back

The property has got a Character to it. As soon as you enter the Property you are welcomed with a Warmth Smooth & Personalized Check in. The Property has got a lot of pluses. It is a compact Property with Lot of Greenery all around. A Brilliant Good Size Swimming Pool and Spa. i Stayed in Junior Suite facing the Pool. The Room Size is good and particularly the Bathroom with a Tub. It is not a Typical modern modern Property / room. It has got all the major pluses being a Modern Property and with a Lot of Touch of Cambodian Architecture with Wood. You Dont get a feel inside the Property that you are surrounded by all modern Construction in the City. The Service standards are Pretty high and Personalized. Good Buffet for the Breakfast with a Lot of choices Got to know that hotel Does some kinda event every day for its inhouse guest Close Enough from Pub Street . A Tuktuk takes about USD 2- 3 to reach. Super Highly Recommended
