Belmond La Residence d'Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia

A stone’s throw from the empire’s legendary ancient temples, this luxurious modern retreat exemplifies traditional Khmer architecture. Here, tranquil gardens – including a pond dotted with floating lotus blossoms - provide a lush backdrop to a pool and spa on the banks of the Siem Reap River. Nearby, open-air markets attract locals and visitors fascinated by the rich colors, textiles, flavors and scents. This is a thriving town with rich heritage.

Before dawn take a tuk tuk ride through Siem Reap to the legendary ancient temple of Angkor Wat. Watch the sun rise in the orange sky over the roofline’s iconic silhouette and tour the rambling ruins – but beware of curious monkeys. Continue your ride past dramatic, centuries-old tropical trees to Angkor Thom nearby. Ride to the historic Foreign Correspondents’ Club for a French-Vietnamese lunch, and tour the Psa Leu markets to pick up silks and spices. Dine on Executive Chef Saul Garcia Ramos’ world cuisine with a Khmer twist at the hotel’s restaurant Circle.

This place is a little oasis in the city. Close to everything yest quiet and relaxing. It's not as large and sparkly (tacky) as many of the other hotels, but it has personality and due to its smaller size is peaceful. The staff are amazing especially Velra and Vang. If you're in Siem Reap stay here!

Stayed for 5 nights in August. What a fabulous hotel. The swimming pool is large and I enjoyed relaxing after sightseeing in the afternoons. My room was on the 1st level overlooking the pool. The room was very comfortable with a lovely big bathroom. The buffet breakfast was wonderful . The Martini Bar was a great bar to relax and have a cocktail. Staff were wonderful, from the Reception to the waitiers, pool attendants and turn down service each evening.

We prefer not to stay in the 5 star chains but rather stay in boutique hotels that capture the culture of the country of where we are staying. The Belmond fits the bill wonderfully. Its design and architecture are inspiring and the staff and food they present are equally so.

This is a wonderful well appointed hotel. The staff is amazing and make every effort help you feel welcome and pampered. The center of the hotel has a lovely pool with free ice cream, cookies, hats and fans. A young man named "Long" is a guest relations manager and really went out of his way to befriend and assist us. You definitely will feel at home here!

Our second stay here this year as we like to escape once in a while from busy BKK, last time was in 2016 before they closed for Renovation and wow did they do a good job on that. Rooms seem more spacious and better lighting, light local colors and fabrics complement the teak wood and other local features. Fantastic service around the Poolside with little treats here and there like small Ice cream cones, mini mocktails and chocolates, just loved it We also participated in some of the complimentary activities and my wive loved the lotus folding class. As we had been to Angkor a few times we asked the concierge to come up with 2 days of activities,I was surpirsed to learn how much other stuff there is to do in Siem Reap. So we eventually ended up with a Heli ride to some other temple complex near the border to Thailand that was completely abandoned and no visitors at all, truly special. We ate several times at the Hotel and met the Mexican Chef who has it all worked out with his Asian/Mexican cuisine at the Pool Restaurant, we loved the Cambodian Chicken BBQ Tacos .......... Wow On friday the invited us for the Managers Cocktail and we had a great time meeting the German Manager and his team who where full of stories and interesting tips on what to do and where to dine in Siem Reap, truly enjoyable All in all a great weekend and we will for sure be back for some more
