Castello di Casole in Siena, Italy

As the crescent moon rises above a sprawling 10th century castle, the silhouette of the rolling hills creates soft shadows, and a gentle breeze envelopes you in the scent of sun-ripened olives. A hint of utopia to some is just the end of another peaceful day at Castello di Casole, an expansive estate in the Tuscan countryside, 1,000 years in the making and lovingly restored with attention to detail by the dreamers at Timbers Resorts. Consisting of an all-suite boutique hotel, lavish farmhouse villas, an on-site spa, and a sumptuous array of fine dining, Castello di Casole captures every aspect of your dream vacation and presents it to you on an idyllic Italian countryside.

Discover unparalleled luxury and comfort as you step onto the radiantly heated floors of your lavish suite to greet the day. With just 41 exquisitely designed suites, the staff at Castello di Casole is able to focus on the needs of each guest with discriminating detail. Savor the opulence of the finest Italian textiles and custom bed linens just a little longer as you enjoy breakfast in bed, courtesy of the hotel's 24-hour in-room dining service. With 4,200 acres surrounding the hotel, set off to explore the grounds with a picnic basket to enjoy a lunch amidst the olive trees. Sample impossibly sweet grapes from the estate's vineyards during a guided tasting tour, or, spend the day getting lost in the breathtaking Etruscan artifacts on the property. With the equally stunning cities of Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano neighboring Tuscany, you can experience the extensive beauty of Italy with a call to the concierge, who will arrange a private car. If you want to stay active during your Italian holiday, make use of the hotel's fitness center and private trainers, or jog through Castello di Casole's acclaimed Model Game Reserve. If the season is right, accompany like-minded guests on a hunting expedition through the lush, scenic reserve. Those who hope to preserve a piece of paradise may purchase one of the 28 farmhouse villas contained within the serene estate. The villas are either restored or reconstructed to emulate their original splendor, and "Owners", as they are affectionately known, enjoy the same services as guests. No matter how you choose to spend your days at Castello di Casole, you will not need to take Italian lessons (which are also available) to know that everything is perfetto.

This castle sits atop on a hill in a remote section of the Chianti Region with the most beautiful, peaceful views throughout the hotel. The service is unrivaled from the general manager to every staff member who made us feel welcomed and special. The Tuscan themed room was spacious, comfortable, with separate bathtub and shower room with a terrific view, as well. Every amenity you can imagine was provided. Unlimited drinks in the refrigerator in our suite was appreciated. The food was farm fresh and gourmet. There was complimentary gourmet full buffet breakfast offered. The Infinity pool with the sparkling colored tiles was a perfect addition to this 5 star resort. Between the comfortable lounge chairs and the complimentary water at the pool topped off by the magnificent view of the countryside of Tuscany was just breathtaking. Two things that would be helpful to improving this magnificent hotel - better signage to finding the hotel when driving and improved air conditioning (more powerful). Highly recommend this for couples, families especially for a Honeymoon or anniversary. This hotel was one of the highlights of our Italy vacation and I highly recommend staying here. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights at the end of our busy trip around Venice and Florence and this was the perfect place to just relax and unwind before our flight back to Australia. The greeting when we arrived was sincere and lovely and as for the rest of our stay all the staff were always happy to assist in anything we asked for. The food was fabulous at TOSCA and the suite we had was fabulous. One day we will be back as it is a lovely place to stay and enjoy with a wine and a sunset at 8.30pm eating on the terrace.

We had a wonderful time at this resort which was suggested to us by the American Express Centurion Service (Grazie a Daniele di Capua in AmEx Italy!). This is such a beautiful and authentic place with fantastic rooms, beautiful landscapes, and top-notch service. The service was some of the best I've ever enjoyed, and we'd especially like to thank Antonio for the excellent check-in, Giovanna and Gabriele at the pool (you're both fantastic!), Roberto and Sabine for their professionalism at breakfast, and Francesco who was our Chef for our cooking class which was a wonderful experience! This place is fabulous, and I can't recommend it highly enough. We had two of the modern rooms (Rooms 58 and 59) which are detached from the main building, and though we were slightly disappointed at first, we loved them because they afforded a lot of privacy, were extremely quiet, and had beautiful views. When we go back, we'll actually REQUEST those rooms again! Thank you to all of the staff -- you did a fantastic job. The manager of this place deserves the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for hotel management. Congratulations!

It is an awesome place and genuine Italian experience. Warmly greeted by the management and staff on arrival, the staff was friendly, accommodating and provided exceptional service. While the stay is pricey, it is well worth it to indulge one’s senses in the beauty and tranquility of the location and service. Secluded, it offers an unobtrusive experience, time to relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery and manicured hills of the property and surrounding valleys. The pool was awesome and offered beautiful views of the countryside with it’s negative edge construction. The food, while a little pricey, was very good especially the pizza and pasta. Exceptional callouts were to Lisa and Jessica who provided service in the restaurants. They were engaging, fun and always looking to fulfill expectations. The full breakfast was outstanding, relaxing. The staff’s presence was understated, but always available to serve. The unobtrusive experience was definitely laid back leaving you to drive the experiences. While the estate and hotel is somewhat off the beaten path, it is still centrally located to get to most of the surrounding hill town villages within an easy couple hour drive. Prior to arriving, the concierges were helpful in arranging activities both on and off the property offering restaurant, site seeing, wine tours, horseback and bicycle riding suggestions.
