Grand Hotel Continental Siena in Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Originally built in the 17th century by the great Italian architect Carlo Fontana, Grand Hotel Continental Siena is a jewel in the heart of the Tuscan city of Siena. Its transformation from a splendid aristocratic home to one of the world's most elegant hotels inspired a painstaking restoration, and the hard work was indeed worthwhile. With its original architectural features and magnificent frescoes, including a wall painting of St. Christopher dating from the 15th century, the hotel is now an integral part of the city's cultural heritage.
Situated in the Piazza Salimbeni, just a few steps from the Piazza del Campo, famed for its horse racing, the hotel is a place of unforgettable experiences. Whether you are taking a cup of tea in the elegant Enoteca ai Banchi winter garden or visiting the wine vaults for a tasting of fine vintages accompanied by the savories of the Tuscan region, you will know you have entered the realm of privilege. The hotel is the ideal complement to your enjoyment of the region, from the basilicas of San Domenico, built in 1225, to the nearby medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano.

Reviews for Grand Hotel Continental Siena
Located in the centre of Siena, the hotel is convenient and has lots of character. The character however hasn't been updated in over 30 years. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms have updated features. The furniture is worn but still passable. A question arises when the night staff deliver earplugs during the even turndown service. Starting at 6:30am and continuing each 30 minutes until 8am you'll be welcomed to the day by the church bells (and thus the earplugs). The views are lovely and the daily breakfast offers a nice selection of breads and pastries, eggs, meats and cheeses and of course coffee. The morning staff are pleasant and smoothly enter, service and leave without you even being aware they were there. If you stay in the old city, this hotel is the best there is. If you want a more comfortable and flexible stay, I recommend staying at one of the many lovely hotels located throughout the countryside.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Continental in Siena last week (Oct.). We had an exceptional experience, which I have to say was facilitated by their outstanding staff. One staff person handled a issue that occurred when we hired a driver through your hotel to give us a tour. The driver mishandled the credit card payment for the tour and charged us twice. The staff followed through, making sure that this money was refunded to us immediately. Other staff went out of their way to help us—going across the street to show us how to use the ATM machine, walking us to meet our tour guide, changing our room when we asked because of its location on the street, which was noisy. The location of the hotel is perfect - easy access to the town, breakfast was wonderful - a totally great experience!

This hotel is in the middle of Siena which makes it near everything! The hotel is beautiful with a wonderful buffet breakfast! All rooms were different. We had a huge terrace with a great view. Table and chairs with umbrella. Had our friends here for drinks.I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Wee were able to walk everywhere!

The service here is amazing. The location couldn´t be better and the breakfast pretty okay for Italian standards. The rooms are all different and we were lucky enough to have a small balcony with a view overlooking the city. The hotel offers parking but it´s a bit tricky to find the way to the hotel by car. I would recommend using one of the public parking places near by.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in late August. Sienna is a beautiful, small medieval town located halfway between Rome and Florence. The city has a gorgeous piazza along with cobble stone streets with shopping and restaurants. The Grand Hotel is right in the middle of one of those streets. The rooms were large. The bathroom was spotless. Our room had a balcony with a table and chairs where we could sip wine overlooking the entire village. It was incredible. This place has been renovated in a way that maintained the ancient character of the building while adding some modern conveniences like an elevator. The bar looked beautiful but we did not use it while we there. Would highly recommend this hotel.
