Grand Hotel Continental Siena in Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Originally built in the 17th century by the great Italian architect Carlo Fontana, Grand Hotel Continental Siena is a jewel in the heart of the Tuscan city of Siena. Its transformation from a splendid aristocratic home to one of the world's most elegant hotels inspired a painstaking restoration, and the hard work was indeed worthwhile. With its original architectural features and magnificent frescoes, including a wall painting of St. Christopher dating from the 15th century, the hotel is now an integral part of the city's cultural heritage.
Situated in the Piazza Salimbeni, just a few steps from the Piazza del Campo, famed for its horse racing, the hotel is a place of unforgettable experiences. Whether you are taking a cup of tea in the elegant Enoteca ai Banchi winter garden or visiting the wine vaults for a tasting of fine vintages accompanied by the savories of the Tuscan region, you will know you have entered the realm of privilege. The hotel is the ideal complement to your enjoyment of the region, from the basilicas of San Domenico, built in 1225, to the nearby medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano.

Reviews for Grand Hotel Continental Siena
The Hotel is accessible by car despite being located in the historic center of Siena: Beautiful Palazzo renovated to perfection, with impeccable service on all levels. Very good breakfast buffet, great food and service in the restaurant. Exquisite wine selection. The contemporary rooms are rather small, but well equipped (some dispose of nice small terraces with two chairs, i.e. # 440). The historic rooms are stunning. The luxury comes at a high price, but it's worth it.

This hotel has a ton of character and makes you feel like you're back in time! It is walking distance to everything. The rooms are very charming and upscale. The breakfast was very elaborate and the food was fresh and delicious!

Wonderful staff who could not do enough for us, Great location. right bang in the center of Siena, beautiful hotel. Only stayed one night but I do wish we had more time to stay longer. Not cheap but well worth every cent.

Stay here! The service started before we even arrived at the hotel. We got lost and didn't know how to drive up to the hotel so we rang reception and they told us to wait down below so they could send a staff member to meet us down the hill. We only had to wait a minute and a staff member met us and we followed him up to the hotel. The hotel was everything we imagined, it was beautiful, luxurious and elegantly restored with very comfortable, very clean and large rooms. Everything was five star, the breakfast was delicious with an amazing selection of food and the staff went out of their way to make our breakfast special. The hotel was amazing but what was extra special was the staff. The reception ladies were so helpful and couldn't have done more for us. The concierge (unfortunately we have forgot his name) was the best. We had a small car accident about 15 minutes from Sienna and didn't know what to do, so we rang the hotel and the Concierge sorted it all out for us. He rung us a taxi and spoke to the local police for us and organised us to go to the car hire company the next day, he was amazing in helping us to sort out our big mess!! Thank you so much. We are a family of six and will definitely stay here again next time we are in Sienna. Kathryn - Australia

We stayed one night at the hotel on our trip around Italy. The location of the hotel is excellent. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The breakfast was very good. They upgraded us to a room with a view which was very nice, however, there was a lot of noise from the floor above during the late evening. Upon returning to our room in the evening they had left ear plugs on our pillows - which I was thankful for but very surprised in the sense that this room was to be an upgrade but had so much noise. I was too tired to say anything to the staff and since we only stayed one night I felt we could deal with it. The beds were very comfortable. Overall, though it was a great hotel - beautiful.
