Grand Hotel Continental Siena in Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Originally built in the 17th century by the great Italian architect Carlo Fontana, Grand Hotel Continental Siena is a jewel in the heart of the Tuscan city of Siena. Its transformation from a splendid aristocratic home to one of the world's most elegant hotels inspired a painstaking restoration, and the hard work was indeed worthwhile. With its original architectural features and magnificent frescoes, including a wall painting of St. Christopher dating from the 15th century, the hotel is now an integral part of the city's cultural heritage.
Situated in the Piazza Salimbeni, just a few steps from the Piazza del Campo, famed for its horse racing, the hotel is a place of unforgettable experiences. Whether you are taking a cup of tea in the elegant Enoteca ai Banchi winter garden or visiting the wine vaults for a tasting of fine vintages accompanied by the savories of the Tuscan region, you will know you have entered the realm of privilege. The hotel is the ideal complement to your enjoyment of the region, from the basilicas of San Domenico, built in 1225, to the nearby medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano.

Reviews for Grand Hotel Continental Siena
After looking at the hotels website we had huge expectations to this hotel. It really was not that special. Some nights later we stayed at a 4 star hotel in Santa Margherita Ligure with was much much better. Rooms are ok, but a bit "old. Cracks in the wall. Stained carpet. Noisy. Also our bathroom was not clean. There was boogers on the shower wall, and a lot of hair (see images). Breakfast was ok, but the staff at breakfast was not very friendly. Staff at check in was very nice:) Nothing wrong with the hotel all in all, but it was not worth the money.

What a wonderful hotel. The decor alone is a treat...grand and opulent. It is quiet, and you would not know we are on the main walking route to Siena's main attractions. Our room is lovely, cool and tastefully decorated with high ceilings and a very nice bathroom. The staff are most helpful and friendly. Breakfast has a good range. I cannot find anything that is not to admire and love about our stay here. Thank you Grand Hotel Continental for a most relaxing stay....

The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the old city, and is a very easy trip to Duomo. The rooms are large, and are very well appointed, with a humongous bathroom, and great beds. The hotel itself is very quiet and night, and unlike many others can be _completely_ dark due to the high quality black out shades. The hotels restaurant serves dishes specific to the area, which is good for adventurous eaters, but may be a bit hard on weary travelers wanting comfort food after a long journey.

Excellent Hotel Only 5 Star in Siena Spent 5 nights with my wife. We were upgraded to a beautifully decorated junior sweet with beautiful frescoed ceiling. Staff were fantastic! Hotel dinner was fabulous. Breakfast everyday was great. Will go back again this year
We enjoyed a beautiful overnight stay in this gorgeous grand property with the most gracious staff and also delicious restaurant! Our room was elegant, spacious and very comfortable. The location a few steps from the Campo and the Duomo was perfect! We had a lovely dinner and breakfast in the dining room, both meals delicious with impeccable service.
