My wife and I spent a wonderful three nights at the Nira Alpina during the busy Christmas season. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that the hotel places a strong emphasis on making guests feel welcome and cared for. The check-in staff was helpful in explaining the hotel and surroundings, but we were most impressed by the attention to detail of the restaurant staff. Like other reviews, I also have to call out the professionalism of the manager, Claudia. She was always making sure everyone and all aspects were taken care of. She stepped by our table during dinner to say hello, share a bit about her own story, and was very happy to hear when we were checking out that we were off to her country to celebrate New Year's Eve. This hotel is fairly new, and we appreciated that. The room and bathroom, although not large, were well equipped and tastefully decorated. The bathroom, in particular, is very modern. Each room has a balcony with chairs, and we appreciated being able to step out into the snow and take in the views as more snow came down. After being out in the mountains all day, we also really enjoyed the sauna, steam room, and hot tub in the spa; highly recommend that! The food in the restaurant is excellent. While it's not cheap (as is the case in Switzerland), we were pleasantly surprised by the variety, especially the Asian influences on the menu. The wine the sommelier suggested for my wife was also quite good. There's a small library, which one can overlook, on the left and upstairs when you come in, and that's a nice place to browse some books and enjoy the views. In terms of location, it is important to know what this hotel is and isn't. If you want to be in the heart of the village of St. Moritz, this is not where you want to book (unless you have your own car, in which case, it's not a big deal). Getting to the village via the local buses isn't difficult, but you do need to be back by early evening when the buses stop running. On the other hand, if you want to be right on the doorstep of Corvatsch, you can't get any closer! We are beginner skiers and took lessons, and very much benefited from being so close to the mountain. We were also able to take the bus to Diavolezza, although the schedule from Surlej, Parkplatz was confusing (make sure to ask bus drivers if you're doing that). A couple of issues to explain my four stars. Internet was spotty and slow throughout our stay. To Claudia's credit, she heard us complaining when we were checking out and came out of her office to explain that she's aware of the issue and is looking into boosting the signal strength. Again, great service. The other issue is we were given confusing information regarding the ski pass that you can buy if you stay at local hotels (we were initially told we could buy it for one day but turned out later that you have to buy it for each day of your stay). Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay, and thanks again to the staff for the great service!

This hotel is a nice ski-in / ski-out hotel, located on a mountain with chairlift and ski facilities. Rooms are clean but only bathrooms have really been updated. Rooms could use renovation and more lighting. Internet is slow, but that may have to do with mountain location. Views from the rooms are very nice, and rooms are very quiet. Hotel serves a good breakfast buffet and the restaurant Stars has very good dinner food - the chef is creative and does a great job. Food service personnel generally very pleasant and friendly. Front desk workers nice, some more knowledgeable than others. Manager of hotel works very hard, and seems very on top of things at the hotel. We even saw her in the evenings in the restaurant. Bus service from the hotel to the various ski areas and to town is pretty good but if weather is not great buses may not come all the way up to the hotel, guests have to walk down a hill to bus stop at the very bottom, which is pretty inconvenient. We would recommend the hotel to people who prefer to stay outside of the St. Moritz town and on a mountain. Note the gym facility is very small, and there is no indoor pool, just a small warm soaking pool. So, skiing is really the main activity for this hotel in winter.

Only stayed 2 x nights and would have happily stayed longer if cost had been more reasonable. The hotel itself was very good including room, staff, customer service and fantastic views. I booked throuh a travel agent and the cost per night was far to expensive. If you want to consider this hotel i recommend contacting the hotel direct and see what deals they can offer. Cost alone is what would stop me staying here again.

Sankt Moritz and its neighbor village Silvaplana are so famous that I expected good service, but the service I got here was far beyond good – I really felt myself as a valuable guest from check-in to check-out. Ms. Pronk – manager of the hotel greeted me while I was still in my car and whished me such a warm welcome. After I parked my car she waited for me at the reception and let her colleague to finish the check-in process. In the room – there was a small gift with hand written welcome note. Every member of the staff has known my name – and greeted me with big smile whenever they passed me. During the dinner – Ms. Pronk personally spoke with every guest and gave recommendations. The same thing she repeated during the breakfast. This is kind of service provided by manager I do not see so often. When we speak about infrastructure – it is very well-maintained hotel. Everything was spotless clean, from inside to outside. Design is nice and warm, but also very modern – I liked it so much. The quality of food was superb, with a lot of local product. I would like to pinpoint great selection of honey. They have very nice wellness, very clean and big enough to accommodate every guest. The location is also something which I must highlight – they are at the bottom of funicular from where I started one wonderful walk. What to say at the and – thank you Ms. Pronk so much. Silvaplana is not very near to me, but I hope I will have a chance to visit you again. I am sorry that I haven’t have time to write this review before, but it is never late for nice words. You really know how to manage the hotel, and I am sure that every guest will be more that satisfied.
