We stayed here for 2 days last weekend. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful as was the concierge. The hotel is historic and had a bit of a musty smell, but tastefully decorated and really beautiful inside and out. The outdoor areas are amazing, beautiful grounds, nice seating areas where you could enjoy a glass of wine, outdoor games, 2 nice pools. The fitness center is well equipped and comfortable. The rooms are pretty, but note that they are historic and tiny. We were in the main building and could also hear music from downstairs. Honestly didn't really bother us, but worth noting because might annoy a light sleeper. No view from our room, but the outside spaces really made up for that. The amenities in the room were great - high quality toiletries, complementary bottle of wine and bottled water at turn down - loved that. $35 resort fee which seemed pretty typical because included parking, newspaper, wifi, wine, rides into town, and use of spa pool and fitness center. Really a beautiful property - good location and easy walking distance to a couple off-site restaurants. The only "negative" for me which was pretty small was that the food at the hotel was just ok, and a couple of the wines available by the glass at the lobby bar are really not very good. When a hotel is located in wine country and prices wines on the high side I expected them to be better than they were. The merlot in particular (which I know Sonoma isn't known for) was pretty awful. Overall nice resort hotel.

Great hotel. Kids loved the suite and the pool. Hotel bar and common area was cozy with the fireplace and furniture. Food a little pricey within the hotel but the quality was good and service top notch all around.

One of my closest friends and I made a last-minute girls' trip for the weekend to Sonoma, so we had limited options available, but the Fairmont had space! It was more than we'd hoped to spend, but it made for a truly relaxing weekend. It's very close to perfection, but not quite there, which is why I had to go with four stars rather than five. With just a couple of tweaks, I think it could be worth a five-star review. First off, it's absolutely beautiful with lovely areas to hang out and enjoy the perfect (at least the weekend we were there!) weather. I loved the fountain area with couches in particular. The lobby itself is gorgeous with a historic, yet updated feel. We immediately felt relaxed when we arrived. They greeted us with a free glass of champagne (such a treat!) and were able to accommodate our request for a room with two beds, even though we'd only been able to book a room with one bed online (much better than having to get a rollaway!). They also were extremely friendly and clearly willing to help as much as possible. The room felt historic, yet was still fresh and clean. It also had a free bottle of wine, which we unfortunately didn't get to drink since we were only there for the weekend and couldn't bring it back with us on the plane. The beds were very comfortable, and the shutters actually did a pretty good job of blocking out the sun (since we wanted to sleep in!). The robes in the room were great, and we felt we had plenty of space. I would change a couple of things, however. First, the small curtains over the shutters were odd and hard to move around (and too long for the thermostat below them). This wasn't a huge deal, but I'd love shorter curtains you could move to be completely over the shutters for even more light blockage. Second, you couldn't set the thermostat to run continually on a fan mode. It looked like you could, but we couldn't get it to work. This, to me, is very important to drown out hallway noises, especially in a hotel like this where there are exterior hallways. As a result, I had to sleep in ear plugs (lots of sounds coming from outside and our upstairs neighbors). It actually was a much louder resort than I was expecting, but I'm guessing rooms toward the back (and higher floors would be quieter). Lastly, I'm not understanding this trend of having only one sink. The bathroom was large enough to have two (and would've helped these two ladies out!). Otherwise, the room was lovely. All the service and food we had was awesome, and having the town car service into the Sonoma Square was very helpful. The free wine tastings in the early evenings was also great and introduced us to a small winery we really loved. The only other thing I'd change would be the main pool and pool area - it's pretty small for the size of the hotel (and the size of the resort fee!). Overall, we loved the Fairmont and would certainly return again. There were just lots of little touches that made it feel special, and everyone was extremely friendly and kind. When you add up all of the fees, the cost is pretty steep, so I'm not sure I'd want to pay the same price, but if I could find a deal that was even a little less, I would probably be more inclined to return. It's a beautiful place and a great way to spend a girls' - or a romantic - weekend.

I've stayed at other Fairmont properties and had Four Seasons experience. This one, not so much. I felt like I was staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel could use an upgrade. Aside from the quaint Sonoma feel, the service was really the part lacking. The pool staff was unattentive. They barely had pool towels available. The bartender at the hotel bar was the rudest I've ever experienced. Everything just seemed hard for a trip where I was hoping to relax. The hotel has a lot of potential but definitely needs to up their service game.

Loved the spa, massage, and relaxing pool. We enjoyed the accommodations, historic place, and everyone was very helpful. Breakfast was delicious, and renting bikes and riding through the vineyards was the highlight of the trip.
