For the amount you pay to stay at this resort, including all the extra fees and charges for every single little thing, I believe all the employees should be kind, courteous, welcoming, etc. but that was not the case at all. For a moment I thought it must just be a California thing, but then we had the most amazing, hospitable time at every other place in Sonoma! There were a few really nice things about this resort/hotel, but for the most part the best things about our Sonoma, CA trip had nothing to do with this resort! The standard King room was tiny, but very quiet. The Sante restaurant was lovely--the food was off the charts!! The general property atmosphere was unwelcoming and the staff seemed arrogant or clueless. However, the woman who assisted us with check-out was extremely friendly! I don't have much nice to say so I will leave it at that.

POOL: Title says it all. The pool was the only reason I booked that hotel. The plan was to put a kid with grandpa in the pool for the day. Well. half a day. Nope. you can survive in the pool only if you are constantly swimming. Grandpa does not swim. Swimming gets old pretty fast even if know how to do it. Spent 20 min there. Then it's a freezing walk back to your room in a wet swimsuit and wettish robe. There is not changing rooms by the pool. Only restrooms. $770 for 2 queen beds room for 2 nights. May be I'm spoiled, but it feels overpriced. SPA: Spa has warmer pools, but it's 18+. And you have to book something there or pay extra. Otherwise spa is nice. I had wonderful mani pedi there with Rodolfo! He is very gentle and did everything perfect without me correcting, etc. Impressed. A word of advice: if you can have mani-pedi at the end of the day. I got it in the morning and spent the day in the various pools in the spa: my nail polish did not survive intact :( FOOD: Tried 38North and restaurant. Both were severely overpriced and underwhelming. Like nobody in our party finished their meal. Even for that much money. Only breakfast oatmeal was pretty decent. STAFF: Nice, friendly & helpfull ROOMS: Clean, well maintained, decently sized. 5 extra degrees in a pool and better food and place would be 5 stars.

Ultimate in luxury and relaxation; everything you need is onsite- comfortable rooms (some with soaking tubs and fireplaces), delicious food at Michelin rated Sante, nightly wine tastings in the lobby pre-dinner, soothing spa and hot spring fed pools throughout the resort, and friendly staff make this the perfect place to escape and unwind for the weekend. Historic setting and beautiful landscaping creates the perfect backdrop to leave the mobile phone & rest of the world behind.

The Reservation was made through the property and the rep was super nice. Check in was one of the best I had with Joeline. The grounds were beautiful. The food was fabulous but not THE BAD: They charge $100 for early check in at 2pm when check in is at 4pm, I phoned around 12:30pm spoke to a gentleman to find out if it would be possible for an early check since the person I made the reservation with asked me what time I would be checking in so that they could have the room ready. Also they charge $39 to access the hot tub which is in the spa area that closes at 6pm, so check in is at 4pm. You get a total of 2 hours if that by the time you get to your room changed and walk over to the hot tub, they do open at 8am however we had plans in the morning. They were super slow and should not be charging these fees when the season dies down. I would have to book 2 nights if I were to ever give this place a chance again.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn for one night. It was fine, but for the price, truly nothing particularly special. The room was decent size, presumably recently remodeled but did not have the feel of a recent remodel. The spa just way too busy for our taste (and it too felt tired). The restaurant, dark and tired though breakfast was delicious. We have stayed at so many wonderful places that we cannot wait to go back to. There was nothing here that was bad. It just feels institutional and dated and not particularly special. No regrets; but also not likely to return.
