We stayed at Anse Chastanet for the second part of our romantic getaway and it was just what we were searching for. We stayed in Deluxe Hillside room 4C which had a great view of the Pitons and the ocean. The patio was definitely the highlight of the room (see pictures) We spend most of our time in the day and in the evening on it taking in the views and nature. There were not many bugs in the area so we had no issues with that. The bathroom was also nice and well kept. We read some reviews of people complaining about the steps and elevation increase walking from the beach to the room but we found it delightful and worth the trip each way. The staff on site were very friendly and authentic (giving off a wonderful impression of St Lucia) The nearby city of soufriere was filled with culture and history (Travel by boat if planning to make a day trip there) Also snacks and beverages are much cheaper in town so feel free to take a large backpack and stock up on things at the grocery store if you want to make your own drinks in the room perhaps. The food was good... We ate breakfast at Jade Mountain a few times which was nice. For dinner we often ate at the treehouse Restaurant and ate off the vegetarian Menu which was nice as well. We didn't do too many off site activities other than one day trip into the town for a few hours. We mainly wanted to just relax in the room and on the beach which was great. The north beach Anse Mamin was where we spend most of our time. The sand was a little softer as you enter the water and it had less people on it with more coconut palm trees to admire. I did do the mountain bike tour which was nice but a little short. I would have liked to go on a longer ride, but im sure that could have been arranged if i asked. There is a local Cat at this beach named Tiger who was the most delightful to meet. He was said to be the mayor of Anse Mamin and we would go back to just to visit him. The cooks, the bartenders, the room attendants, the servers and even the grounds keepers were amazing and made us feel welcome and at home. We will be back for sure! The words i write can't really describe the beauty of this place so I'm hoping our pictures will!

We made our way from Gros Islet, over an hour half drive to go to the 'best snorkeling' on the island and we were not disappointed. We paid for a lovely lunch, my fiancé had Mahi Mahi the special of the day and I had fish roti. It was excellent! Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

The resort consists mostly of 2 room cabanas with wrap around balconies, clinging to the precipitous side of Jade mountain. The view from our room was unparalleled in our travels. Rain forest clad mountains, sparkling waters and the magical Pitons mountains. We were there during the rainy season in December but the weather was perfect on our side of the mountain. Often you could see rain further inland but we had a week of sunny days. The resort is vertical! There are some cabanas at the beach level but we were very happy we chose a mountain room because of the afore mentioned view. There is a restaurant/bar right at the water's edge. In fact, when the tide is coming in, it is a good idea to choose a table more to the interior to avoid a soaking! There is a dive shop and lots of loungers and a towel concierge. There is a second beach that has a restaurant/bar and a boat shuttle. You can reach it by foot too. The beach is beautiful and there is a reef teeming with fish just a few steps from shore. You might see a few turtles as well. From the beach, there are stairs (171 steps) leading up to the resort reception area and 2 main restaurants. All the restaurants are roofed but open air. The Treehouse restaurant looks out over a valley leading to the ocean with some massive trees reaching up past it. Watch carefully and you might see a tree sloth. The other restaurant looks over the water and the bar has entertainment and wicked CocoLocos. Continuing up the mountainside is a steep, narrow, paved road leading to the rooms. Our room was about a 5 minute climb from the reception area. If you continue up the mountain you come to Jade Mountain Resort, a mind bogglingly gorgeous, ethereal property perched at the very peak. It is like something from Star Wars. You MUST go there for a meal. It was included in our all inclusive package. Go every day! The VIEW! We consider ourselves active and relatively fit for 60ish travellers. We run, bike, ski and ply sports but the second day my calves were complaining. That doesn't need to happen. there are shuttles that take you to the beach and back, to your room or to Jade Mountain Resort. We stubbornly resisted and my legs got used to the climbs. Food is great, service fantastic, people friendly and we had a wonderful week.

This hotel has a lot of promise but needs a bit of a facelift. The jaw-dropping Jade mountain has probably been the owners focus for the last few years.. In my opinion it does not deserve the reviews or price that it has, maybe it used to, but not any more. We went at a quiet time, end of Nov/Start of Dec so there were only 2 restaurants which crammed in 5 menus. This may be the reason the food was fairly average. The cocktails were a joke, we tried a few times to order a mojito in case it was staff dependent and in the end it turned out they were actually trained to make this crazy toothpastey smoothie, it was undrinkable! There were so many cheap touches like not very nice glasses and cutlery and finishings around the hotel and rooms that would make a big difference. Good things: The location is amazing, really one of a kind and the beach is great. The scuba club was absolutely wonderful one of the best I have ever gone out with. We had nice massages in the spa too. We ate and had cocktails in Jade mountain most nights after being dissapointed with the food at Anse Chastanet and that was AMAZING. So you could do that, it would be much cheaper than staying up the hill and you would be close to the beach in the day, but it was difficult to get reservations.

Started off in room 4B which was very disappointing, in need of refurb, no air con, tiny wardrobe, located up a steep hill (95 steps from restaurant) as there are no glass in the 7 windows you can hear every noise outside - be warned!!! Frogs start at 6pm and don’t stop until 6am! We had the shock of our lives, it was like 50 car alarms going off all night long. We did kind of get used to it after the first night and it wasn’t as bad, however the selfish, obnoxious loud mouth neighbour basically ruined the first few days of our holiday! Totally selfish she would get up before 6am every day and talk at the top of her voice with no regard for anyone else. It sounded as though she was stood next to our bed we could hear every word she said. We ended up writing a note and sliding it under her door, we also complained to Jonathan who spoke to her. She was quieter for 1 day and then went back to normal. Seriously why would you want to get up before 6am on holiday?! But so selfish to wake everyone else up as well! I had to sleep with ear plugs in and an eye mask on. I was disappointed there was no bath in our room, and also to learn the hotel did not have a swimming pool. There are 129 steps to the beach which to be honest for me was torture in 30 degree heat, others may not mind this but when I go on holiday I just want to relax. Personally I found the pillows too thick and there were no alternatives. I didn’t like the yellow lighting in the bathroom was hard for applying make up, but needed to keep mosquitoes at bay. I get the feeling that 10 years ago this Hotel would have been the place to be - but now they have Jade mountain this Hotel is in need of updating and refurb. Certain areas are a bit scruffy, like the beach toilets and I wouldn’t have exactly called the spa luxurious. Another thing I didn’t like was the toilet paper was so thin about 1ply, this is just a preference but I didn’t like it. Finally I found it a bit tedious shutting and opening all of the shutters daily it was a bit annoying. Above is all the negative stuff, however when a different room became available, Jonathan moved us to 11D which was beachside as opposed to hillside. Wow, we loved this room! Loads of space, huge bathroom twin sinks, outside area with hammock and sun loungers, luxurious feel with air con we were very happy with this room. Great lighting with white bulbs in bathroom, plus room had its own WiFi hotspot. Beach was very nice and secluded though not private. Anse Mamam beach well worth a visit for lunch. Food and drinks were delicious and the service was excellent. Breathtaking views of the twin peaks etc, and nice that there is only 50 rooms in the hotel so is not over crowded. Did the jazzy cruise which was good and saw dolphins which was amazing. Had a massage at the spa which was quite good and enjoyed the steel band entertainment on a Tuesday. The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. Sherman our taxi driver to the airport was excellent.
