This hotel has a lot of promise but needs a bit of a facelift. The jaw-dropping Jade mountain has probably been the owners focus for the last few years.. In my opinion it does not deserve the reviews or price that it has, maybe it used to, but not any more. We went at a quiet time, end of Nov/Start of Dec so there were only 2 restaurants which crammed in 5 menus. This may be the reason the food was fairly average. The cocktails were a joke, we tried a few times to order a mojito in case it was staff dependent and in the end it turned out they were actually trained to make this crazy toothpastey smoothie, it was undrinkable! There were so many cheap touches like not very nice glasses and cutlery and finishings around the hotel and rooms that would make a big difference. Good things: The location is amazing, really one of a kind and the beach is great. The scuba club was absolutely wonderful one of the best I have ever gone out with. We had nice massages in the spa too. We ate and had cocktails in Jade mountain most nights after being dissapointed with the food at Anse Chastanet and that was AMAZING. So you could do that, it would be much cheaper than staying up the hill and you would be close to the beach in the day, but it was difficult to get reservations.

Started off in room 4B which was very disappointing, in need of refurb, no air con, tiny wardrobe, located up a steep hill (95 steps from restaurant) as there are no glass in the 7 windows you can hear every noise outside - be warned!!! Frogs start at 6pm and don’t stop until 6am! We had the shock of our lives, it was like 50 car alarms going off all night long. We did kind of get used to it after the first night and it wasn’t as bad, however the selfish, obnoxious loud mouth neighbour basically ruined the first few days of our holiday! Totally selfish she would get up before 6am every day and talk at the top of her voice with no regard for anyone else. It sounded as though she was stood next to our bed we could hear every word she said. We ended up writing a note and sliding it under her door, we also complained to Jonathan who spoke to her. She was quieter for 1 day and then went back to normal. Seriously why would you want to get up before 6am on holiday?! But so selfish to wake everyone else up as well! I had to sleep with ear plugs in and an eye mask on. I was disappointed there was no bath in our room, and also to learn the hotel did not have a swimming pool. There are 129 steps to the beach which to be honest for me was torture in 30 degree heat, others may not mind this but when I go on holiday I just want to relax. Personally I found the pillows too thick and there were no alternatives. I didn’t like the yellow lighting in the bathroom was hard for applying make up, but needed to keep mosquitoes at bay. I get the feeling that 10 years ago this Hotel would have been the place to be - but now they have Jade mountain this Hotel is in need of updating and refurb. Certain areas are a bit scruffy, like the beach toilets and I wouldn’t have exactly called the spa luxurious. Another thing I didn’t like was the toilet paper was so thin about 1ply, this is just a preference but I didn’t like it. Finally I found it a bit tedious shutting and opening all of the shutters daily it was a bit annoying. Above is all the negative stuff, however when a different room became available, Jonathan moved us to 11D which was beachside as opposed to hillside. Wow, we loved this room! Loads of space, huge bathroom twin sinks, outside area with hammock and sun loungers, luxurious feel with air con we were very happy with this room. Great lighting with white bulbs in bathroom, plus room had its own WiFi hotspot. Beach was very nice and secluded though not private. Anse Mamam beach well worth a visit for lunch. Food and drinks were delicious and the service was excellent. Breathtaking views of the twin peaks etc, and nice that there is only 50 rooms in the hotel so is not over crowded. Did the jazzy cruise which was good and saw dolphins which was amazing. Had a massage at the spa which was quite good and enjoyed the steel band entertainment on a Tuesday. The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. Sherman our taxi driver to the airport was excellent.

I went with a group for a week of scuba diving at the resort and they were simply awesome. We went diving everyday, and it was super nice not having to rinse our BCs and regs since they did it for us- they worked so hard during the week to make our stay a memorable one. The dive team was so patient and encouraging with beginners and had excellent eyes finding small and interesting reef creatures- even a nice size seahorse. The resort is located in what I think is the best part of the island, as it's away from the cruise ship port near the north and is very closes to the Pitons. It took the boat about 5 or 10 min max to be at the base of one. The diving was excellent with very calm conditions all week, it was almost as calm as a bathtub. Now the resort is just as good as others say- it's beautiful, has great food (and I'm a vegetarian), big rooms, and great service no matter where you are on the property. The staff was very friendly and our housekeeping person visited twice a day. The turn down service was lovely and the towels were always being replaced. Water pressure at the shower could be better and water sometimes wasn't super hot in the shower, so that's something they could note. After diving you get cold and sometimes you want a hot shower. The only side trip we did was to the volcanic mud bath and that was worth it.

I stayed there with my wife for our honeymoon and it was fabulous. The room has an open concept so you are connected to the nature. The view is spectacular! The restaurants are very nice with tasty food options and the main bar can satisfy all your beverage desires. The beach is very nice and the Pitons not far away... The people of Saint Lucia are fantastic and we had a great time! Keep it up Anse Chastanet team!

We travelled here for 6 nights having first stayed at the Sugar Beach Hotel. This gave us the opportunity to compare and contrast both resorts. We had heard that the road in to the hotel was rather bumpy so transferred by water taxi (similar price but took 10mins rather than 40 and was much more comfortable). The route out in a 4 by 4 taxi to the airport was then not nearly as bad we we had been led to expect. Immediate impressions having come from the pristine Sugar Beach Hotel, were of a more run down resort. Our room was a premium hillside one which offered an amazing view of the two Pitons. It was very spacious and had a rustic charm to it. The lack of air conditioning made it rather difficult to sleep and we resorted to sleeping with the fan placed by the bed inside the mosquito nets. This made it a little more bearable. A plunge pool on the terrace area would have given the room the extra wow factor we were looking for. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and informed the hotel of this when asked on arrival but no further acknowledgement was made of this during our stay- particularly disappointing given we met another couple at the hotel who were celebrating the same anniversary and had been treated to 4 bottles of wine/ prosecco during their stay. We found this very puzzling. The food was very good in all of the hotels' restaurants. As we were on an all inclusive package, we stayed within the hotel for all meals. In retrospect, the breakfast and dinner plan would have probably suited us better though as we didn't drink enough alcohol to warrant paying the AI price. We went to the gym (located in Jade Mountain) daily. This was adequately equipped and usually we were the only ones there. If there had been other guests using it at the same time though, the lack of space and cardio machines would have been a problem- with 3 treadmills but then only one cross trainer and one bike. The air con wasn't very good , thus making it unpleasant to exercise in the humid environment. The lighting was also very poor. Sometimes we arrived and found the water had run out and not been replaced and there were no towels. We went on the dolphin and whale watching trip one morning and very much enjoyed this. We Also went on an escorted snorkelling trip but ironically we saw more fish when snorkelling just off the hotel beach and didn't have to pay for that. We also had a tour of Jade Mountain resort which was amazing and quite a contrast as it wS much more modern and certainly had the wow factor. Pro's 1/ amazing views of Pitons in some rooms 2/ good food with daily changing menus in Treehouse restaurant 3/ lovely beaches - especially Anse Mamin Cons 1/ lack of air conditioning makes sleeping uncomfortable 2/ unpleasant smell of septic tank in treehouse restaurant area on many days 3/ AC in gym not sufficiently strong so gym quite hot for exercising in and poor lighting. 4/ the beach side toilet facilities are rather basic and there were not enough toilets. General impression - location unbeatable but needs upgrading to take account of customer expectations and other local competition.
