Jade Mountain in Soufriere, Saint Lucia

At Jade Mountain, owner Nick Troubetzkoy’s spacious, open-air sanctuaries sit high atop cliffs with the island’s only view of both the Piti & Gros Pitons. These coral-tiled spaces, accented in locally quarried stone, feature 20 different species of tropical hardwood flooring hand-picked from the rain forest of Guyana. Luxurious spa treatments from the resort’s boutique spa Kai en Ciel (House In Heaven) utilize 5,000-year-old Indian Ayurvedic traditions. The Jade Mountain Club Restaurant wraps around a colorful infinity pool and dishes up the creations of award-winning chef Allen Susser. Produce, fruit, and cocoa beans are manufactured on the resort’s organic Emerald Estate farm, an old 18th century sugarcane plantation. With over 1,000 cocoa trees, the resort offers in-house chocolate manufacturing, allowing guests to sample chef creations, sip on chocolate-infused cocktails, and even try their hand at creating their own chocolate delicacy.

Dive into the inviting green waters of the Caribbean and snorkel alongside pristine coral reefs. Cruise out on the ocean aboard the resort’s yacht or 60 foot catamaran. Indulge in the chocolate laboratory and create your own decadent truffles. Feast on the refreshing and organic mango & papaya creations of Allen Susser from your private enclave on Anse Mamin beach. Unwind with a romantic Alchemy Of Two spa treatment before soaking in your private infinity pool.

Staying in this hotel is a treat!! Each room is a sanctuary- the rooms are open to the elements and are exquisite! The rooms are spacious, the bathroom open to the views and each room has a magnificent large private pool which over looks the beautiful view towards the Piton mountains. The tranquility was intoxicating! Each room comes with a butler- we had Davidson he was incredible!!! The resort is attached to another resort on the beach which is also gorgeous. Guests can choose to eat dinner in your sanctuary or there are other restaurants to choose from which are all as good as each other! The food is incredible, fresh and delicious, the staff so helpful- nothing is too much trouble and they are all friendly and kind. The beach offers gorgeous sunlounges and umbrellas as well as activities. Diving is popular and the staff in the Dive shop are amazing- special mention to Zita and Xavier. All the staff are proud of their country and their jobs. The hotel is an amazing structure to behold- using as much of native resources, it sits effortlessly in the mountain, where guests feel part of the incredible landscape!! We are so grateful to have stayed here!! Highly recommend!!

Stayed for a week in February 2015. Probably the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Rooms, views, food and service - everything was on top. We took an all inclusive package which I thought was worth it even though we are not big eaters. Highly recommend the helicopter transfer - great fun.

I have wanted to visit jade mountain since I first read about the hotel 6 years ago. Sadly we couldn't afford to stay on our recent trip to the island, but booked a lunch and drinks instead. We were made to feel very welcome. The staff were lovely and very knowledgable about the menu; where the ingredients were sourced from and more importantly the wine! The view is something else. After a long drive up a very bumpy road to get there, then a shuttle service up the mountain to the hotel, the building emerges from the hill top and takes your breath away. The view actually brought tears to my eyes- I love a good view and I had wanted to visit for so long. It was wonderful! Lunch was on the expensive side. Ā£160 for 2 burgers, I dessert, 1 bottle of wine, 1 water and 2 further alcoholic drinks. However it was worth it for the view, the service and the experience.

First off, I should start by stating that we booked this trip through Costco. We did do the math and saved a significant amount over booking the flights, transfers and room separate. We traveled in November and you might not find this deal during the winter busy season. It was beautiful in November by the way. So, I was a little worried about the room we would be given considering that we were a little off the rate card. I understood how the building was laid out and where the best rooms would be (Upper floors, western edge). Sure enough, we were escorted to the bottom most floor of rooms with a pool (the very bottom floor is all non-pool rooms) and the second most eastern. Our room had no "Bridge". So, I was getting a little anxious. Costco package or not, this was still very expensive! BUT, once we walked in we were just blown away! Seriously! Our Costco package was for a Star Sanctuary. They told us we had been upgraded to a Moon, but honestly, I think they may play with the Star and Moon categories a bit. It's not like there is a sign on the wall or anything. The Star pictured on the website has a better view (because it's higher) than our "Moon". It's possible that ours might have been bigger I'm not sure. But again, we LOVED our room. We just had a little bit of tree line that kept us from seeing a continuous water line. But, the Pitons were framed beautifully and it was just stunning. So, my point is, get a room with a pool and you will be happy no matter what. Our Costco packed included the All Inclusive option. The retail on this is $360/day/couple. We spent that on dinner every night. So this was a great deal for us. I had read other reviews that said that you could take a boat into town for supplies and save some money. Maybe. But if you are going to Jade Mountain I think it would be a shame to spend a bunch of time off the resort. I have never spent more time in a room on a trip in my life. We ate every breakfast and lunch in our room. Buy the AI and soak up this incredible place. The only issue with the AI is that it does not include any wines by the bottle. The wines by the glass we experienced were fairly poor. We would even ask for the list and make a selection but be poured something else. They did have a French Rose that was nice but it was not always chilled. so, we gave up and drank Grey Goose and Woodford Reserve. Works for us. When it came time to settle the bill, there were zero surprises. It was truly All Inclusive and it was a great deal. We tipped the Bartenders every night. They had live music every night so we'd stop after dinner for a drink and these guys were great. Very informative and friendly. We tipped our Major Domos (Davidson and Reynald (sp?) $100 each at the end of our 5 nights. It felt right. These guys were also fantastic. I miss them. What a neat experience. Food was very good although not 100% consistent. We had expected to eat nothing but seafood but the main dishes were kind of plain and the Grouper I had one night was too tough to eat. How do you do that? The beef though, Oh my goodness! All of it was fantastic. Burgers, filet, all of it, 100% perfect. We were told it all comes from the US. I give the food a solid A, just not an A+. I had also read reviews where people complained about the pace of dinner being very slow. Not our experience at all. Pace was perfection. They do seat non-guests and guests separately (non-guests in the bar area) so it is possible that the service is different as well. The pool in our room was heaven. I own and maintain a pool of my own so I am hyper critical. The water condition was ideal. Although the leaves that settled to the bottom of our pool each day were never removed. This is a miss and should be corrected. Very small thing for such a great place. i had read reviews of people complaining about the pools being too cold to use. Absolutely not! If anything, ours was too hot. It was at least 95 degrees. If you go, make sure you spend the time to read the various articles that have been thoughtfully collected in a binder in the room. It will really enhance your appreciation of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Man, this place really sets the bar high across the board. We are fortunate to have traveled too some wonderful places. The only place that slightly beats the room to me was an Over-Water Bungalow in French Polynesia. But Jade beats that place on every thing else by a wide margin.

Brilliant menu, wine, cocktails, quality of food and service. We came for sunset drinks on the incredible terrace, and dinner in the restaurant 3 times while we were staying at Anse Chasanet down the hill. Expensive but good value for money for fine dining in an incredible location. Special thanks to a brilliant sommelier.
