Jade Mountain in Soufriere, Saint Lucia

At Jade Mountain, owner Nick Troubetzkoy’s spacious, open-air sanctuaries sit high atop cliffs with the island’s only view of both the Piti & Gros Pitons. These coral-tiled spaces, accented in locally quarried stone, feature 20 different species of tropical hardwood flooring hand-picked from the rain forest of Guyana. Luxurious spa treatments from the resort’s boutique spa Kai en Ciel (House In Heaven) utilize 5,000-year-old Indian Ayurvedic traditions. The Jade Mountain Club Restaurant wraps around a colorful infinity pool and dishes up the creations of award-winning chef Allen Susser. Produce, fruit, and cocoa beans are manufactured on the resort’s organic Emerald Estate farm, an old 18th century sugarcane plantation. With over 1,000 cocoa trees, the resort offers in-house chocolate manufacturing, allowing guests to sample chef creations, sip on chocolate-infused cocktails, and even try their hand at creating their own chocolate delicacy.

Dive into the inviting green waters of the Caribbean and snorkel alongside pristine coral reefs. Cruise out on the ocean aboard the resort’s yacht or 60 foot catamaran. Indulge in the chocolate laboratory and create your own decadent truffles. Feast on the refreshing and organic mango & papaya creations of Allen Susser from your private enclave on Anse Mamin beach. Unwind with a romantic Alchemy Of Two spa treatment before soaking in your private infinity pool.

We just returned from 5 day stay at Jade Mountain. I am not going to write about how amazing this place is (and it IS AMAZING), because there are thousands of other reviews who did just that. I want to give a few of the points from our experience. 1) Make sure you have lot of memory on your phone/camera because once you get here, you can't stop taking pictures of this place! Day after day, I could not get used to the amazing view. 2) The most understated aspect of this place is the food. Dining at Jade Club is on par with the best restaurants in the world. It almost reminded me of NY's Le Bernardine. Fresh food and beautiful presentation. If you are a foodie or seafood lover, this place is for you. They have 40+ acres of farmland and brought in a PhD horticulturist from US to run their farm to be used EXCLUSIVELY for their resort, which to me is amazing. It's truly a farm to table experience. The other restaurants at Anse Chastanet could not top Jade Club, even the private 5 course dinner on the beach. 3) Walk to the beach takes only 5 minutes, and the steps going down is fine. But steps going up from the beach is no joke. You do get used to it. But this is definitely not a place for someone with problem walking or disabled. You can also call your major domo (your personal butler) and get a ride. We never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for the ride itself. We tried to walk most of the time, so we could get some exercise after eating all the delicious food and drink! 4) The weather.... we went in July, which is their non-peak, rainy season. We didn't know what to expect. There was one day that rained quite heavily in the morning. There were two completely dry days. The other two days had scattered showers for maybe 10 minutes at a time. So it was really not bad at all. We did have to cancel chocolate tour the morning of the heavy rain, but our major domo promptly rescheduled it for that afternoon even though it was not a scheduled tour time. They seem very flexible with scheduling our activities. The temperature in the sanctuary was very comfortable even with lack of air conditioning because of many fans. If you get hot, you can always jump into your infinity pool to cool down. 5) You don't come to Jade Mountain to party. The first day, I walked around for 20 minutes and did not run into a soul, except a few employees who knew me by name. This is a place to completely relax and get away from the world in a peaceful environment. I did not think about my work once during my stay! Even scheduled activities were in a very small group. Both time we went diving and guided snorkeling, it was just two of us. 6) Perhaps the only negative aspect about the place was the birds. We stopped eating breakfast in our room because if you don't finish your food, the birds will come and finish for you. Even when I covered the plates with napkin, they know how to get them off. For some reason, it wasn't much of an issue at the restaurant, although it was the same open air. 7) I highly recommend the helicopter pick up on the way in. It is about 10 minutes as opposed to 1 hour car ride on bumpy road. Plus you get the arial view of Jade Mountain which was awesome. 8) We saw several other sanctuaries to determine where we would want to stay next time. (You will want to return to this place!) I would recommend higher level because it has better view even though it may mean more steps. By the way, even the smallest sanctuaries are big enough for two people. Without the fourth wall being there, you feel like you are part of the nature outside. This place is an architectural wonder. You can't imagine the brain and the manpower needed to create this place. You have to come here and experience and see it for yourself because there is no other place like it. We also had chance to meet Nick and Troubetzkoy (owner and the architect) and his wife Karolin as they were staying at the same time, which was neat. Highly recommend this place!

Wow. You'll say "wow" a lot during your stay at Jade Mountain. It's not just the jaw dropping, world class view from literally everywhere. It's not just the absolute world class service from not only your butler or your waiter, or your driver, it's every employee you meet. One day my husband and I stayed in the sanctuary (We were in a Sun Sanctuary) while they cleaned. I'm so glad we did. It was amazing how much time and care a team of two people took to make everything look perfect. Not only were they thorough with incredible attention to detail; they were very personable and a joy to talk with as well. Our butler, Teddy, took care of absolutely everything. It didn't take long before he honestly knew what we wanted before we could even ask. And he was an absolute joy to talk to. Such an interesting man with much knowledge. We stayed 4 nights and we felt like we truly knew everyone. The drivers who take you down to the beach (a 2 minute ride that would be a steep walk) knew us, talked, joked with us. The waiters had extensive knowledge of wines. We had 2 special Beach Set Ups for dinner, called Platinum Dinner Under the Stars.I believe the added price was $255. It was so romantic. We literally booked the second one while we were only 30 minutes into our first one! I wore sequins and flip flops. We felt like honeymooners instead of a couple together for 26 years. I asked for the Rose Petal turn down for the first night. That was $45 well spent to lend to the atmosphere of sheer romance.I ordered a large tropical flower arrangement for the room which was stunning. We booked a couples massage with the spa which was tops. I waited too long to book the hotel's boat for a private half day cruise so it was taken so we booked with an outside company. I highly recommend this. Ours was great, but I can't imagine how good Jade Mountain's version would have been so book early. Oh , the food..... delicious. Even the omelets were art. I just can't say enough good things about Jade. They asked what we would add or change at the end of our visit. My husband and reflected long and hard on our stays at Burj al Arab, Al Maha, Qsar al Sarab, Six Senses Yao Noi, Peninsula Bangkok, Mandarian Oriental Bangkok, Four Seasons hotels, all places known for their service. We literally could not think of one thing Jade could do better than they already are. It's world class. We will be back. A huge thank you to everyone at Jade Mountain. Sincerely, Kimberly and Mark

We stayed in JD2 (a star sanctuary) from June 26-July 1, 2017 for our honeymoon. From the second we stepped into our room and saw the amazing view, we were in awe. Everything was flawless. The Star sanctuary is the smallest room with the infinity pool, and it was still huge to us. Having the pool in the room was awesome. We didn't have any big issues with bugs or birds (you have a little water gun to shoot the birds with!) and the temperature was fine. The room stays pretty cool, especially at night with the fan over your bed. There's also a mosquito net over the bed so bugs don't get in. Our Major Domo Teddy was AMAZING. Loved him...so helpful. Brought all of our food to the room so we didn't have to leave! We did go to the restaurant for dinner, the food was delicious and the staff was so friendly. We especially loved Ain, Kofi, Ned, Rolande, and Dedani. We also did the complimentary plantation tour with Tyson which was a lot of fun, just don't forget bug spray! The beach is beautiful, make sure you walk along and explore the area! This is literally the most romantic place we've ever been too, and even though it's expensive, it is so worth it. We hope to go back soon!!!!

My wife and I came to Jade Mountain in Nov, 2015. We are just getting ready to head out on this year's vacation and began talking about our stay at Jade Mountain. 2 years later, and my wife and I fondly remember our time with Teddy, our wonderful room, and the entertaining wildlife (the birds we ate breakfast with each morning in our room). Special kudo's to Bentley who kept my wife happy with Mangos (and the Mango ice-cream). Beautiful views, wonderful staff, fantastic food -- 2 years later, and our time at Jade Mountain is the "standard" by which we judge all the other vacations.
