Jade Mountain in Soufriere, Saint Lucia

At Jade Mountain, owner Nick Troubetzkoy’s spacious, open-air sanctuaries sit high atop cliffs with the island’s only view of both the Piti & Gros Pitons. These coral-tiled spaces, accented in locally quarried stone, feature 20 different species of tropical hardwood flooring hand-picked from the rain forest of Guyana. Luxurious spa treatments from the resort’s boutique spa Kai en Ciel (House In Heaven) utilize 5,000-year-old Indian Ayurvedic traditions. The Jade Mountain Club Restaurant wraps around a colorful infinity pool and dishes up the creations of award-winning chef Allen Susser. Produce, fruit, and cocoa beans are manufactured on the resort’s organic Emerald Estate farm, an old 18th century sugarcane plantation. With over 1,000 cocoa trees, the resort offers in-house chocolate manufacturing, allowing guests to sample chef creations, sip on chocolate-infused cocktails, and even try their hand at creating their own chocolate delicacy.

Dive into the inviting green waters of the Caribbean and snorkel alongside pristine coral reefs. Cruise out on the ocean aboard the resort’s yacht or 60 foot catamaran. Indulge in the chocolate laboratory and create your own decadent truffles. Feast on the refreshing and organic mango & papaya creations of Allen Susser from your private enclave on Anse Mamin beach. Unwind with a romantic Alchemy Of Two spa treatment before soaking in your private infinity pool.

My husband and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and were lucky enough to stay at the beautiful Jade Mountain Resort. I do not know where to begin..... there are simply no words to express the incredible experience we had there. We stayed in the stunning Moon room which was truly breathtaking. We had a killer view of the Pitons and our own enormous infinity pool. The privacy and quietness of the resort was perfect for a romantic getaway. Not only was the entire resort stunning, the staff and service was impeccable. Everyone was more than welcoming and helpful, which gave you a true feeling of being pampered. They will not let you carry your own bags, they make sure your fridge is constantly stocked... not to mention the delicious little snack box that appears in your room everyday! Yum! Our butler Al was the best person ever. His energy and perfessionalism exppeeded our expectations. He was and is Fabulous! A true asset to the Jade Mountain team. My husband and I were so pleased with the service we cannot wait to stay at Jade again.

Booking this resort we were not disappointed. Upon arrival we were escorted to an alternative suite and the alarm bells started to ring, however we were quickly told that our original reservation was doubled booked and we were to stay in this room one night and be moved the next day and upgraded two floors to a Moon Sanctuary,We were also informed that due to the mistake we were refunded full nights stay. This coupled with outstanding service, food and stunning beaches make this resort the best we have ever experienced ever. Our favorite restaurant was the tree house and we consider the food there better than at the top. The only thing I can even remotely critique is the climb to your room but thats our fault, there is a shuttle on call to drive you up. Don't let the lack of air-conditioning fool you, we are from the south and AC is a must but at Jade Mountain we slept like babies with seven fans constantly moving the air, the nights were cool and comfortable. The activities were exciting but I really stress that you reconsider time taken off the resort, for example zip lining, driving 2 hours there and two hours back you can quickly blow a whole day away from the beach. One thing not to participate in is the Volcano trip that was a total waste of time. We mainly stayed on the beach and did a lot of snorkeling, eating and just relaxing. Don't be afraid to ask your Major Domo to restock your fridge and most importantly instead of asking for a bottle of wine ask for 5 glasses instead,a full bottle will be delivered but they won't charge you for the bottle. The road on the way to the resort is 4-wheel and extremely rough, this is (I think) to keep the locals away from the resort beaches, however there are people with boats that offer water taxi's and excursions, don't do business with these people ask the resort and they will make the proper arrangements To surmise if you are considering a stay on this resort do it, you won't regret it

Jade Mountain is not a hotel with amazing views, but rather one of the world’s most impressive views around which an architectural wonder has been erected. Walking into our sanctuary for the first time is something I’ll never forget: a tidal wave of awe and excitement. Our view included both the majestic Pitons and the calm Caribbean Sea. The rooms are designed for peace, privacy and relaxation. Jade Mountain is geared towards privacy, each sanctuary is secluded, some by their own private walkways. The beach is a short walk/ride down the hillside where activities abound: snorkeling, scuba diving, jungle biking, kayaking, or just laying out on the beach. We split our time between Anse Chastanet and Jade, and some advice for those doing the same: get the majority of your activities done during your stay at Anse Chastanet, because you will likely want to spend much more time in your room at Jade. More than once, we found ourselves on the beach longing to go back to our room. No review of Jade would be complete without mentioning the food, which is top notch. Between the service, the view, and the quality and variation of the cuisine, it was like eating at a Michelin star restaurant each night with a rotating menu. We tried lion fish for the first time, but also enjoyed classics like seared foie gras and beef tenderloin. And the only way to describe the breakfast is indulgent. Try the gourmet scrambled eggs… we ordered it every day of our stay! The last thing I need to mention is the celestial terrace, which is perhaps the most unique ‘room’ I have ever come across at any hotel. Sitting atop the hotel above the restaurant is a roofless lounge which at night provides the best stargazing I have ever experienced. The Milky Way bleeds through the night in soft patches of murky white, and as long as you’re patient you WILL see shooting stars (we tallied six total over three evenings). I couldn’t wait to retire to the terrace after dinner with an old fashioned. As far as the things you’d expect from a five star property (cleanliness, spa services, top notch service, etc.), Jade takes care of them all. An especially nice touch is the check-out time, which is based on when you need to leave for your flight. Your sanctuary is your home until you have to go… and trust me, you won’t want to.

This place is nothing short of spectacular. The views are amazing and the people are even better! We stayed in a moon sanctuary for 7 days and did all inclusive. Definitely get a meal plan because food is not cheap. But everything was fresh and delicious because a large portion of the fresh produce came from their own farm. We had 3 major domos and they were all wonderful, especially Ain. He was so genuine and thoughtful! There were plenty of activities for the adventurous and everything you need in the room if that’s your cup of tea. We went on the volcano, sulfur springs and diamond mineral bath tour as well as a tour of the 40 acre Emerald farm where they grew 50% of the food for the resort. Our favorite was the emerald farm tour where we got to taste some of the produce and learned a lot about how chocolate was made. The in-room couple’s massage was so relaxing I fell asleep. We also did a full day of private sailing. This was my first experience on a sail boat and I missed the ample and comfortable seating on a sedan bridge. It was still a great experience snorkeling and seeing St. Lucia’s western coastline. The lunch prepared by the resort for the day was enough to feed 8-10 people. Our major domo, Jameel, also packed some snacks in addition to that. The private dinner on the celestial terrace was terrific. Kofi (the assistant manager?) brought each delicious course and we met the chef at the end. There were a couple of things I wish I knew about ahead of time. First, use all the mosquito repellents available to you. We got eaten alive. Our major domo, Al, brought additional citronella candles for us once I mentioned the bites which helped. Second, food at the jade club is so much better than at the sister resort, even the gourmet dinner at the treehouse that cost an additional charge on the all inclusive plan paled in comparison. Also, we had some strong winds around 2:30 in the morning one day that blew the mosquito netting into one of the ceiling fans and ended up somehow taking a blade off that fan. It was very quickly fixed by the resort thanks to all the help from Daniel. TLDR: wonderful people, amazing view, great food, be ware of mosquitos.
