Jade Mountain in Soufriere, Saint Lucia

At Jade Mountain, owner Nick Troubetzkoy’s spacious, open-air sanctuaries sit high atop cliffs with the island’s only view of both the Piti & Gros Pitons. These coral-tiled spaces, accented in locally quarried stone, feature 20 different species of tropical hardwood flooring hand-picked from the rain forest of Guyana. Luxurious spa treatments from the resort’s boutique spa Kai en Ciel (House In Heaven) utilize 5,000-year-old Indian Ayurvedic traditions. The Jade Mountain Club Restaurant wraps around a colorful infinity pool and dishes up the creations of award-winning chef Allen Susser. Produce, fruit, and cocoa beans are manufactured on the resort’s organic Emerald Estate farm, an old 18th century sugarcane plantation. With over 1,000 cocoa trees, the resort offers in-house chocolate manufacturing, allowing guests to sample chef creations, sip on chocolate-infused cocktails, and even try their hand at creating their own chocolate delicacy.

Dive into the inviting green waters of the Caribbean and snorkel alongside pristine coral reefs. Cruise out on the ocean aboard the resort’s yacht or 60 foot catamaran. Indulge in the chocolate laboratory and create your own decadent truffles. Feast on the refreshing and organic mango & papaya creations of Allen Susser from your private enclave on Anse Mamin beach. Unwind with a romantic Alchemy Of Two spa treatment before soaking in your private infinity pool.

My husband and I were very fortunate to spend three nights here, then four nights at Sugar Beach. It was great to enjoy two totally different experiences. We stayed in the Star Sanctuary. I loved it because the Infiniti pool didn’t take up the whole edge of the open room. We still had a patio area to lounge in. The service is second to none. Everything is well thought out, room service is superb. Everything or anything you want is yours. Just ask. Bento box in the refrigerator is changed daily. Snacks delivered anytime even a midnight snack menu. The spa was very nice and we had a lovely couples massage. Prices were $220 for a couple which we felt was a very good price, especially for a five star resort. If stairs and hills are an issue it can be tough for some. They will arrange to help whenever possible to transport you and offer shuttle service. We personally loved the second beach that was about a ten minute walk from the main beach. The restaurant there served awesome burgers so don’t miss it. There is an option for a helicopter to take you from the airport to the resort. We didn’t know this and should be something to look in to. Not sure what the cost is. The ride from the airport to the hotel is about an hour and the ride up to Jade Mountain is beyond bumpy. It’s treacherous. Definitely opt for the meal plan. You get whatever you want. My one complaint would be the food. My husband and I are used to great restaurants and really don’t mind paying for a good meal. The room service as I mentioned was , breakfast was delicious when we had it delivered. The Jade Mountain Club was the best choice but still found it to be spotty. For example, the appetizer we had one night was a tuna tartare. It was off the charts delicious. Next course was fois gras. It was over cooked and not good. The main meal of steak was fabulous, kingfish a little dry. The other restaurant choices just weren’t good. Apsara is heavy Indian focused and neither of us liked it. We went to the Treehouse and looked at the menu and left. Went back to the Jade Mountain Club. In need of big improvement on the food. Otherwise this is a very special and unique spot. Sugar Beach nailed the food. Had amazing room and amazing food every day. We did a beach cottage there. See my review under Sugar Beach.

This was our first time in St Lucia and OMG....This place was spectacular! Not our first time in the Caribbean, but its the first time we've ever discussed coming back every year to a place. Plusses: #1 the view (come see to believe); #2 Anse Mamin beach (you will want to go every day (way better than the big beach at Chastanet), quiet, secluded, bar, excellent burgers (seriously, Food Network should feature them); #4 the room... We stayed in JA2 which is smaller of pool rooms but it was just perfect; #5 the food was pretty damn good. Minuses: Chastanet beach bar bartenders sucked. They need training big time. When you order a bloody Mary and he had to ask you if you want alcohol in it, that's a problem. Then he didn't put any in and we had to get shots to make it right. C'mon now!; #2 Not really a minus but just a word of caution... the steps in this place can be off putting so be sure you're ready to walk. Great shuttle service but not to the restaurant all the way up top. Ok, we did the Thursday night Jazz Cruise and it was pretty good. The Spa is nice and offers good services but not the best massage I've ever had. Extremely nice people there, both staff and other guests. Major domos do an awesome job. This place is my new favorite.

Our six-night stay at the Jade Mountain Resort proved to be a bucket list experience. I honestly don’t know where to begin. We stayed in JB1, and with that suite we had our very own butler, the Major Domo. Teddy, Davidson, and Reynold were all incredible and anticipated our needs with great service and care. The view from our room was stunning. We had the Pitons to our left and the sunset to our right. The various restaurants on the resort were amazing too. For dining on the beach, I recommend Aspara, the Indian restaurant. The chicken roti was delicious! Also, for the best burger in town, it’s worth the 7-minute walk to Anse Mamin. I repeat, the best burger ... maybe in the world? We also loved the Jade Club for evening dining. During our stay we took advantage of the many excursions available. We snorkeled with Zita, who is a master diver! We took a plantation tour and went zip lining at Morne Coubaril Estate. Our plantation tour guide, Berthia, was so sweet and informative. And our zip line heroes, Greg and Pinky, made our first experience an excellent one. I recommend the Jazzy Sunset Cruise in spite of how cheesy it may sound. It was actually one of the sweetest things, and the sunset is worth it! My husband and I have much more traveling to do, with so many other destinations in mind. That said, I do hope that we find ourselves at Jade Mountain again. Everything from the staff to the food to the views and the off-resort opportunities warrant a return trip! Oh, and for the off-resort activities, Jefferson Modest is an excellent taxi driver! Find yourself at Jade Mountain. You won’t regret it.

Based on reading another review, we decided to go to Jade Mountain for lunch. It was an amazing experience. This is our first trip to St. Lucia and we have been checking out some of the resorts on the island. Jade Mountain is one of a kind, it just has to be seen if you are going to St. Lucia. We made reservations for lunch and drove to the resort area. They offer shuttle service up the mountain and the driver escorted us to the restaurant. The views are breathtaking. The imagination of the architect is apparent and the results are awe inspiring. We arrived at 11:30 and we were the only people there at that time. Our food was fantastic, the best we have had on the island and the prices were right in line with most of the lessor restaurants we have visited. Service was a little slow, but we didn't mind at all because we were taking in the views and snapping photos. After lunch we went to the upper level and enjoyed the view from an even higher perch. The shuttle took us back to the parking area, we grabbed our beach bag and headed for the beach at the bottom of the hill for a day of swimming and snorkeling. This was one of the best days we have had here in St. Lucia. The staff at Jade Mountain and her sister resort Anse Chastanet are so accomodating. Even though we are not staying there on this trip, we have been to their resort facilities 3 times in the last 7 days. We are planning to go back at least once before we leave. When we return to St. Lucia, we will most likely stay on one of these two properties. Go to Jade Mountain, you will be glad you did..

This is by far the place with the best view, service, and food that I have visited in the Carribean. One end of your room is open and has an infinity pool that is now heated! The view is of the Piton mountains and it is reflected in the pool - outstanding! You are provided with a cell phone to call your Major Domo who will take care of your needs. Honestly my husband and I don't hardly leave our Sanctuary. Food can be delivered to your room with no extra charge. We get the MAP meal plan that comes with breakfast and dinner and a snack box called a bento box that is filled with goodies like fruit, small sandwich, and a dessert for two. There are lots of steps to get from your room to the beach and to the restaurants. There is a shuttle to get to the beach if you are not in good shape or have knee problems but there is no elevator to the restaurant which is on the top of the facility and can be 5 flights if you are on the bottom. Great spa and exercise facility- air conditioned, 1 elliptical and approx 4 treadmills. This is a great place to relax - no TV, very quiet rooms. They have live music nightly until 10 and there are things to do if you want like bike riding, hiking (don't hike the piton unless you are very very fit), make your own chocolate, cooking classes. I love the Jazzy Sunset Cruise on Thursdays. They have a lovely place to snorkel right on the property and you can borrow the equipment including wet suits. No children allowed. Great getaway.
